  1. The player has to want to do it.
  2. This is total bs. You have no idea. The guy that turned martin around was choco Williams. He was virtually a full time minder. Wasn't hardwicks coaching...
  3. And he has a weak one armed tackle...
  4. His best is good. Disposal can be a bit iffy. We can't have 22 stars so we need guys like Harmes to play a role. He can be a permanent fixture if he does the work....
  5. I call BS. Its Jacks call and always has been. He is under contract. If he stays and tries to perform at the expected level he will be putting himself under pressure to perform consistently. Has he go the cojones to do that? We'll see.
  6. I can't answer that. But I can tell you we don't score 8 goals a game from his kicks.
  7. But there's a nasal spray for that apparently......
  8. Is he another Val Mitchie?
  9. This is vying for the award of most unhinged comment and that's saying something. Watts by the way averages 8 kicks per game.
  10. Except Treloar is a garden variety mid. Look at key position trades I would suggest.
  11. Have you ever negotiated anything in your life?
  12. The difference I would argue is that Jnr was a good trainer with good habits and a club favourite. He was a positive culture for the club and it was seen as sacriligious to let him go. Watts is popular but deep down I suspect the players know he hasn't given it his all.
  13. Its all factored in...
  14. Well... Tom Boyd was $1m a year Buddy was a big 10y deal. Thats for a start. Wait till Tom Lynch says hes leaving GC then you'll see how desperate clubs are to secure a key fwd...
  15. Richmond gave up someting like 5 goals, 9 goals and 8 goals in their 3 finals. Anyone that thinks defence isn't that important is dreaming. We were 18th in defensive one on ones, and 18th in scores from opposition entries into our fwd 50. Lever bolsters our defence and gives us options. Great news for melbourne.
  16. FMD Dedoro did a deal. Amazing, That kind of stuffs Stringer unless they can get a good pick for Francis.....
  17. Jealousy.
  18. No from me, Not fast enough and disposal needs a lot of work. Doesn't make great decisions, The footy Dept seem to like him so I will defer to their judgement but with Lever in the team I suspect limited opportunities for Wags.
  19. I don't know why I am wasting time on this but here goes. Compare the situation with Sylvia. They're different players but the situation has striking similarities. Sylvia was a 10 year player that never finished inside the top 5 in the B&F. He finished 5th twice from memory. A top draft pick with talent to burn. Had off field issues and was an extremely inconsistent player. His best was matchwinning. He could have been elite if his preparation and training standards were that expected of a professional athlete. We traded Sylvia for what became Vince. We were never going to get better with Sylvia. Despite umpteen counselling sessions about lifting his standards he was a party boy. He could never be relied upon to give his all in the way that, say, Nathan Jones can be. He most likely led other astray and from a culture perspective he was a negative. He was the classic coaster that had raw talent as a junior but never did the work required to be great. Now Jack is not Sylvia but the similarities are there. If Jack pulls his finger out and commits to being great like he was implored to do at last years b&f by your love child Roos then we will all be thankful. But he is 9 years into a career, still getting dropped for not meeting standards and reading between the lines, didn't rehab properly from the hammy. My view is we will never get bettter with Jack Watts. And if younger players see what he is allowed to get away with then they will think 'why do I have to do the hard work?' He has trade value and it wil send an extremely strong message about the standards we want as a club. We may well get a decent pick and a player that can develop. Or we may trade that pick for a proven performer. We, as supporters, need to demand more. Non-negotiable work ethic week in week out. Otherwise we will remain a mediocre side that misses finals because we are mentally fragile. You have to weed poor cultures out of teams and from all reports Jack has a poor culture. The fact that he is popular makes it even worse. Other players watch him as a senior player and see what he does and how he performs. Those that think the footy department don't know what they are doing need their heads read. Sure they make mistakes but this won't be one of them. IMO Jack isn't gone yet. He may well turn around and say 'stuff you, I'm staying and I'll show you.' If he pulls his finger out I for one will be very happy. As I suspect most supporters will be.
  20. Hardly a shock they would be speaking their own book....
  21. Watts has had opportunities to be great wel before this. see roos' speech at last years b&f. Watts came back and was dropped for the pre season. I can't fathom what people don't get about this.
  22. Because they are a professional club and you never know what might eventuate. Unlike our 'old' club that didn't bother to interview Dustin Martin.
  23. Has a bit of white line fever about him but from PLapp's reports he still learning where to run etc etc. Work in progress....
  24. Thats a Broad accusation to make....
