WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
I'd like to see each of them have 5 tackles.

If Clarry doesn't get the nod this week that means he can't get GOTY. If his goal is not in the running for GOTY that would be a massive joke on the award. Olivers was deliberate for a start. Westoff's was kick and hope. But knowing PA supporters and how little they have to do between collecting their Centrelink cheques I suspect they will be hitting the voting lines big time to make it happen for their boy.

Parish is a good, slightly better than ordinary footballer. Not sure he will reach great heights.

This always happens. Triple M gave their 3 votes to Trac on Saturday. IMO he played a good game but would have been behind Viney, Oliver and Hibberd. Some observers are seduced by 'star' players and even though Trac is not there yet every observer has him marked down for future star. Oliver by rights should be viewed in the same light and with increasing media focus is likely to be thought of that way.

Not sure how they could go past Hibberd for the 3 votes. Was outstanding and gained 630m...

That's often to disrupt opposition plans to tag or niggle him

Disagree. His instinct is to handball straight away. Its not always the best option. Many of his stats are give and go where he will accumulate 3 or 4 stats in a passage of play. I love Clarrie but he has to learn to be more damaging with his stats. When appropriate he needs to burst out of congestion and then deliver to the best option.

Josh Kelly
Kelly would be a great pick up. The question is the value. Yes you have to pay up to get silk but IMO its really important not to upset the whole TPP situation. If we do get into a window of success we will need a lot of negotiationg room for our current crop.

Don't disagree but how many of those big trades have been successful? Trades like Mummy to GWS and Lake, Burgoyne or Frawley to Hawthorn seem to have more success than the Judd's or Buddy's. They are less disruptive to the playing list and salary cap. To match the price touted for Kelly would stuff us for years in terms of salary cap and player payment 'relativity'. And while he's good he is no game changer yet, IMO.

I think that is clutching at straws. The Boyd deal is in a category all of its own and he was pretty much useless in the lead up to the GF - and pretty much since. Yes he had a great game but I am talking Dangerfield, Buddy, Buckley etc. These deals cripple clubs generally. You'd be better with a Rory Laird / Elliott Yeo type - just below A grade but very solid and 1/3 as much as a Kelly.

Remind me how many have won flags chasing a fish and a pay packet like that? Kelly has all the goods but is still relatively unproven. He plays in a team of champions so its hard to get a form line sometimes.

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
Totally different roles. Not a like for like comparison.

Hmm as he scans the 2015 draft. Daniel Rioli... Such a waste of time doing retrospective drafting. It's pretty easy though. I think Weid will work out just fine. Good pair of hands and likes to fly at the ball.

Yeah agree but its a bit early. We have done nothing yet.

Not happy with all of the rave reviews about Clarry and Petracca. Nothing good will come of the media jizzing. They need to do it week in week out.

Haven't seen this posted anywhere else but Jack Watts was on radio this morning about Oliver: "He can do it all. I was with (ruckman Max) Gawny last night and he was sitting in the (coaches) box (on Sunday) and he was saying the coaches were having a little fight because Troy Chaplin our forwards coach wanted him (Oliver) to stay up forward and Ben Matthews (midfield coach) wanted him back in the midfield. He is a super player and I think the coach probably put it on him a little bit last year to really become that full-time professional footballer and he's really taken to that and taken his game to a whole new level." Nice.

I recall them saying the Buddy deal and the Boyd deal had re-set the market for key forwards. You had to draft them because they were going to become unaffordable. They choose to take the best Key fwd available.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
Not so reliable your friend.....

Sorry Nasher they were totally different. The Weid one was a great scoop off the turf. The Smith one was phenominal. He fended off Smith with one hand and plucked up the ball with the other (Koutafidis like) - in one motion. Both great pieces of play but not similar IMO. The Smith one was perhaps the best piece of brilliance I have ever seen in a 1st year player.

Ask Barry Prendergast....

Still my favourite piece of play. One handed against a 3 time premiership player. Impressive

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
In the past 5 years every team knew they can beat Melbourne. Even the spooners - it was their one genuine chance for a win. I suspect that will change this year.

In Jason Taylor we trust!
It's usually a player from another club doing it to us.....

Like Google and Facebook are now censoring content they deem to be offensive. In the new Orwellian world if you don't fit the narrative you get howled down or deleted.
