Centre Clearances - Considered Analysis Requested.
jnrmac replied to DEE fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wishful thinking. They do review the video of each clearance in slo-mo, freeze frame and real time. There is plenty of analysis done and 'learnings' that come out of it. They also use overhead footage and down the ground footage. They'll more than likely be at the game today with Carlton analysing the set ups as well. But I think you know this.. -
I thought the umps call was harsh and wrong.

It's OK Sam you'll get your chance soon ??

Harmes took 12 steps. That's not 15 metres

Two players really annoyed me last night Fritsch, who I thought was just lazy and frankly hopeless. Kicking into the man on the mark is inexcusable under the new rules and he denied us a certain i50 entry. And around the ground he displayed no intensity at all. Way too casual. His goal square stuff up was appalling as well. He might as well not have been on the park. Carrying around too much bathwater in his stomach. Brayshaw is the other one. I think he has had a terrible year and he was ordinary last night. Another who displays no urgency and appears so casual when he disposes of the footy. He seems to often get stuck in no mans land guarding grass as well. Both players gained 70m and they had 1 tackle between them And Langdon with 98% game time is simply a machine.

A handball was defined originally as a closed fist hitting the ball held in a stationary hand. You could never handball over your head for instance. It would always get called a free. Somewhere that changed but it was never really defined differently. Perhaps it was around the introduction of theAdelaide crows that used to excel at the Crow throw. Nowadays it seems anything goes particularly both hands moving in the direction of the handball.

When we were winning the initial clearance decisively, oppo teams would wait on the outside and sweat on us. We would often cough the ball up. We would win clearances but lose the game. That was a clear strategy to beat Melbourne. Too many bees to the honeypot, see ball get ball types in there. A real focus under Yze is to win the contest after the initial contest as this is often more important. I think the pendulum has swung too far and we aren't adjusting very well. And Viney is a much bigger loss than people realise. -
Some terrible decisions. Swans player kicking back in from an out OTFull, runs outside the boundary for 10m and the ump calls play on? If he's played on then it's a throw in. The number of times swans players literally let go of the ball when tackled. Play on. Number of times when swans players infringed the 10m rule was ridiculous The niggling, pouncing, scragging, faux tough guy acts were pathetic. Very happy for that win. We owe them.

I think its been relatively forgotten that his mother passed away early in the year and he trained away from the group over in Adelaide - with Norwood I believe. To have to deal with such a major life event at his age and to get so fit with the program given to him by Burgo is frankly amazing. Shows outstanding dedication. We could just as easily been writing - Kozzie had a major interrupted pre-season and has the second year blues. He is clearly very driven and we are very thankful for that,- 966 replies

He has a broken bone in his hand. He naturally would avoid using it to fend.

Pretty hard when the ticketing system breaks down for 6 hours. Getting a ticket and sitting with family and friends is a complete joke, The bars are just insane. maybe 60 ppl in the bullring and 140 standing toe to toe outside Very hard if you want to go with friends and/or family, sit together etc etc. Maybe we should all march on the MCG and extinction rebellion activists as that crowd seems to be allowed to gather in whatever numbers they want.

Garbage, Danger lifted his elbow. He also lifted his knee which is a natural reaction to front on contact for blokes...
-
Brown and Weed didn't train really until around 4/5 weeks ago.
-
Just has to learn to squirrel grip opponents, whine to the umpires and slide his knees into opponents on the ground and the Brownlow is Luke's for the taking....
-
Gawn was getting beaten IMO. They worked him over and I suspect the move of Jackson was to change Norths ruck set ups. It worked beautifully and Luke was outstanding.

Did you see where Jones was slapping him on the knee? I though what the hell??

I believe in the tooth fairy as well....
