  1. I saw enough to give me a bit of a smile in the game, but seriously- Last quarter? What did Neeld say to us at the last break? We were playing brutal footy in the third qtr and really stopping the Carlton flow. Then the last quarter began large gaps in defence and trailings of opponents began to emerge again. Carlton may have woken up to an extent but I was pretty disappointed in how we finished the game off. We are really exposing ourselves late in games and giving up- it's a worry. If we had held strong and only lost by the 16 points we trailed at 3QT we would feel like we had made a much bigger leap
  2. I'd give Bennell a little more time to prove himself. As for Bate I'm on the fence, he hasn't been able to cement his spot in the side since 2009 and is really an average player. He plays shown good signs, but just isn't quite a good enough mark, kick, or goal-kicking force. He hasn't quite been good enough as key forward, half forward or midfielder He's 25 now so I'd probably be getting games into a younger player
  3. Morton's not hard enough, not fast enough, and not smart enough, that's why he's dropped
  4. There's way too much hate on our older players, seriously. It makes me wonder if we are only criticizing these guys cause they are older than 25. This time last year people were salivating over Sylvia and Moloney. I'll agree I haven't liked their efforts of late, but they have both had injury setbacks this year and I thought Moloney was good and tough against the Dogs and Saints. Why has hate on Davey respawned? He's been easily in our top 10 players this season and only a few weeks ago supporters were commending him on his defensive pressure. I have actually thought Davey's tried his heart out since he was dropped after round 1. His stats may not show it but I think he should be set in the side (I'm upset he was dropped)
  5. Collingwood, by far. We've beaten Essendon the last 2 times we've played them, so It'd be more refreshing to beat the pies, especially on the big day. WIth the bye the next round it could really revitalize our season. There'd be nothing better to hear screaming dees fans and distraught Collingwood fans
  6. Moloney: Hey, give the ball back! I was using it! How am I gonna improve if you are the one who is holding the footys! Neeld: I'm coaching a future powerhouse club, excuses like that are now unacceptable, how are you going to find the ball on the field if you can't find it at training! Moloney: But you snatched it right from me! Neeld: Excuses, excuses Brett. It might have something to do with your core strength being down. Moloney: What about that extra $200,000 for my contract? Neeld: Mate, I've told you, you keep spending your dough on ruddy tattoos! You might be able to buy the new iPad or whatever the hell you want if you spent some time in the Gym instead of the tattoo parlour!! Moloney: If I get a tattoo of your face too will you pay me that extra money to keep me at the club? Neeld: Deal. We still need hard bodies.
  7. Also interesting to see the Blues are playing 3 ruckmen with Warnock back in the side
  8. Seems like Neeld is happy to toss around players quite a bit...Morton omission is fair enough based on last week's game, not sure if we need Sellar back, Davey's a little stiff I think. Hopefully Nicholson gets picked I reckon he will be a great player, I've been calling for his selection all year, he looked ok last season. Interchange should be McKenzie, Bennell, Magner and Nicholson (sub). Dunn better find some form he just never looks quite there on the footy field
  9. I think everyone's gone backwards except Jones and Howe. Maybe Davey too, he's played a little better and looks more likely to keep his spot. I think Cale Morton's gone steadily backwards since his debut season, plus he was dreadful against Sydney. I still don't think he's in and ever will be in our best 22
  10. I want to see us gang-tackling, kicking into space and to forwards on the lead, no chipping to stationery players who are cut off and stand still as their opponent runs away. I want to see players like Trengove getting loose and running down the wings. I want to see Frawley dashing out of defence and not hesitating to dispose of it. I want players to look at the goals when they mark inside 50, not looking for other players. It's as simple as making an effort. I've been pleased with our effort in some losses in the past, such as against the Dogs 2 years ago (Which we were extremely unlucky to lose). I won't measure our performance by a margin but players need to want the ball and want to be out there (I'll be watching Sylvia and Moloney closely)
  11. I wouldn't say he's improved too much but he definitely hasn't looked worse which really makes him stand out. Jones is perhaps the only player left who knows how to play with heart and soul or at least it looks that way. And by the way, I'd definitely be regretting not making Jones captain if I was coach. Eight rounds in, he is the only player who's playing like a captain
  12. Does anyone else get the impression that our club is run by robots? Cameron Schwab- Chief Robot.
  13. While it's a nice idea in theory to make a stand, I'd never ditch a game because we are playing badly. I just love everything about going to the footy, and never leave a Dees game before the final siren. Plus, there probably won't be enough of our supporters there anyway. How about we ditch the GWS game? Because most of our fans will just come to boo Scully anyway
  14. I still think Bartram is an average player though, despite how many sideways 20metre kicks in defence hit the target. If Frawley is such a naturally good user of the ball, why is he so reluctant to get rid of it I wonder?
  15. David Schwarz is a real person, a real media commentator and as good a person to come out of the club as there is. Was a fantastic player and my favourite as a young kid. Well done Ox you are spot on with these comments
  16. Sylvia can laugh his head off for all I care- if he absolutely tries his heart out during the game.
  17. Hey what about this- Let's just ignore this BS because you could already know what would be said in a letter like this before you've read it. The same old crap, we've already heard it before. Excuses for the players. Excuses for the coach. The reality is we are on the bottom of the ladder and have been crap so far this year. Poor form McLardy, just don't say anything if you aren't going to go past the obvious cliches. We could lose every game this year and still get the same message. Pathetic.
  18. Hey, I didn't support the dropping decision in any way, shape or form. Consider it our team's loss that we aren't playing him when he's still one of our best players
  19. Surely giving Lucas Cook a game wouldn't be a crime.
  20. I wish we had Gysberts back. I think he was a massive part in our good patch last year, dominated against Essendon. Watts will be fantastic, and is fantastic in my opinion. Trengove will be good but I haven't seen enough to crown him as a "superstar midfielder" like Joel Selwood. I think Howe is our best performed young player at the moment, though. I think he's in the top few for the contested marks this year in the league, he'll be a star half forward. A few more goals from him would be nice though. I think players like Morton will always just be average. I'd like to think Blease will be a star too, although why aren't we giving him a game?
  21. Dylan Grimes has been one of the best defenders in the league this year, however I think Jack still could be better, he played some really dominant games 2 years ago but has had 2-3 big injury setbacks. I think it's fair to say the Morton's aren't a very good bunch
  22. I don't agree that it's a huge problem, but it isn't a good look considering the situation we're in. I think it's nice in a way though because players of different teams must know each other and I like the idea of being enemies during play and then acknowledging each other after the siren and having a chat. The problem is we aren't getting absolutely demolished but we aren't losing really close games, so I'm guessing the players aren't too distraught and are just getting used to these medium losses. We need pride as a football club though, we need to show that we are 100% in it for winning. No strings attatched.
  23. I expected 9-10 wins this year. I understand Neeld has carried himself well so far and seems to know what he's doing but all you can do so far is praise his attitude, personality and perhaps his credentials as there is no evidence his game plan is working whatsoever
  24. I've been thinking about it all day. All I can hope for is that in the next 4 weeks we play some good footy and do better than expected, because if we cop 4 big floggings we won't have any supporters at the GWS game, apart from me and a few who'll turn up for Scully hating
