  1. Yes, we have gone backwards this year, it's very apparent to any real supporter who's seen every game this year. Let's accept it and look toward the future. I've been [censored] off enough during the season but now I've got next season in my sights. I just look forward to the surprises and twists of 2013, and hopefully Neeld can prove himself as well as all our weak, belittled players. Keep supporting the club and turn up to the matches because isn't it [censored] great to come and watch us play (especially at the [censored] MCG)
  2. I think Jim would be more honoured if we actually wore our real guernsey. I agree that our alternate strips have been a disaster, I mean we've had 5 different ones since 2007. Returning to the simple red one with a demon on it would be good, white just isn't Melbourne for me. Although, honestly, I'm not happy with our home strip, which has also changed once every year. I don't like the dark, odd red. It makes our jumper look a bit dull, not to mention the pointless collar. We should only wear these jumpers when necessary too, perhaps against ONLY Essendon and Carlton. It's so stupid when we wear that white thing in just any old away game, such as St.Kilda.
  3. I'd rather stay where we are to be honest, I've seen them train a few times at the grass next to Collingwood's oval (I can't really call our bit an oval since there's only one set of goal posts and Melbourne Storm bite into this patch as well), but it's so beautifully scenic with the MCG in the background. If you live in the Eastern suburbs like me docklands can take up to 20 minutes longer to get to than the MCG. I've rarely ever walked through Docklands but for me I usually just define Docklands as Etihad and the bridge from the station to the ground. When I have though it's seemed like a hard to access dirty ghost town with a coloured cube or a steel statue of a dolphin lodged between two identical trees on fake turf. I guess a strong stronghold and good oval there could be beneficial for our training, and no more Collingwood players sneering at them as they jog along the path (I saw that once). I remember Dean Bailey also using the public toilet there during the 2011 Intra club game, so maybe at Docklands a cleaner toilet may inspire Neeld
  4. T So averaging over 20 possessions in the back half, showing good dash, kicking a few goals when going forward,a rising star nomination, and the general consensus about him being a rightful high draft pick yet you don't agree with me? And the fact that he was never dropped. (40 games in his first 2 seasons)
  5. Everyone always says "Gym this, Gym that" and has been for the last few years, when clearly our biggest problem is the way we play and our skills, not how big we are. Cale Morton was a better player when he weighed 68kg or whatever, perhaps the time in the gym to bring him up to 78 has hindered his skills and run, that's my take on it anyway. Plus, most of our players seem to have enough muscle on them, Moloney, Sylvia, Jones, Tapscott and Jamar all come to mind. Trengove looks very muscular too. I know some of our players get thrown around at contests but occurrences of us missing targets and weak/slow running are more frequent
  6. 1. Free up plenty of list space and rookie space 2. Change our guernsey to the former red colour, get rid of those collars on the jumper and rid of the white away strip. 3. perhaps 4-5 mature/ promising players from other clubs who can't get a game, Aaron Edwards, Shannon Byrnes or Koby Stevens or others. 4. Serious talks with all the players individually and in the group about winning and setting up a new culture where success is a more prominent word than progress/development. Serious motivational talk and encouragement and club history lessons as well. 5. Skills, skills, skills. Kicking, decision making and running work is in desperate need of improvement, as is tackling. Less time in the Gym and more time on the grass (for most players)
  7. Maybe. But instead we chickened out of talking to a coach with senior experience (for the 2nd time in 4 years), perhaps under the notion that a young coach will more efficiently coach a better team.
  8. I saw Watts' defensive move just a short-term thing to improve his ball use, get his hands on the ball and just make him work harder. Ultimately he will be a forward or out of the team. He's probably still the second best set shot behind Clark
  9. I'd prefer a David Rodan and Danyle Pearce 2 for 1 package. By the way, we should treat Jurrah with more respect. Hi Ben.
  10. His lack of opportunity this year has been disappointing and I've always been on his side. Wish you the best, Davey
  11. Seriously, is weight such an important issue? If Gyberts has enough speed, confidence and endurance then I don't care if he's 45 or 90kg. When he got 53 possessions in his first two games I didn't hear anyone talking about how skinny he was. Lewis Jetta is very thin but everyone praises him. Secondly, upon hearing Gysberts is leaving, why bag him instead of feeling sorry for him? No one has a clue what they're talking about, he has played 1 game this season and before that no one questioned his ability and thought he'd be a star of our future. Stop guessing potential flaws in his game just because he hasn't been picked this year. Maybe Neeld just doesn't like his attitude.
  12. I'll always remember Brent Moloney as a Port Adelaide player
  13. We've got plenty of room here! We need to fill the seats. Move here and make another family! Great weather, good people. Or just come for a holiday.
  14. I wholeheartedly hope that this fine contributor to this site is in good health and that any setback may be resolved. Maybe he barracks for another team now, a relative of mine changed from the Dees recently. Maybe they have been killed in a tragic hot air balloon accident, but something tells me we'll never know. Someone carve his name into a stone and dig a 6ft hole, and then throw your computer into it. Because he represented the device. Part of it anyway
  15. The other funny thing is that those who complain about how awful our performances have been this year also rave about how wonderful a coach Neeld is.
  16. Yeah and apart from Clark's 29 goals, Green kicked 19 goals in 13 games, Blease 19 in 16 and Howe kicked 19 in 22 games. Next best was Jones with 16 from the midfield. Not only did our forwards (bar Clark) not kick a reasonable amount of goals, we barely even had a forward line.
  17. He may as well leave, it's unlikely he'll ever fit in our defence unless we picked him over McDonald
  18. People need to stop turning against players, just because Neeld doesn't like them (and who knows what goes on inside that man's head). At least Petterd could kick 1-2 goals a game regularly, and lead well at the footy with a fair bit of pace. His disposal wasn't too bad either and he was hard at the ball. We needed a capable small forward in our team all year and he was constantly overlooked. I enjoyed watching him play and he was a great guy when I met him. It'll be a shame if he goes.
  19. "The club will continue to provide personal support for Liam" Well we should start by persuading him to stay instead of him giving away his talent by not playing anymore or moving to Port Adelaide. I wish for his to get back on track, I'd love to think playing for us will help him and he is so talented. It's a sad day if we are never going to this entity of a genius never play in the red and blue again.
  20. It's an interesting point, i'm a bit split but I think on our list as a hole skills are a bigger problem. I really hope we spend a lot less time in the Gym during preseason and spend more time doing skills work
  21. Yes, it was a terrible year. But I'll still be looking forward to 2013 like I look forward to every season. I can't wait to see some new players, or a new way of playing there's still the unknown to look forward to. Passion to attend matches will never be a problem for me because I just enjoy going to the footy
  22. If Gysberts does go then that's a really sad story, such a high pick, especially since he was what we got for McLean (who has been dominating). The fact that Neeld has only given him one game this season is a disgrace, considering some of his form in the previous two seasons, yet it probably proves what he thinks of him and means he will leave
  23. 1. Jones 2. Rivers 3. Howe 4. Clark 5. Grimes Top 4 should be concrete for mine. Jones will easily win of course. Rivers hasn't missed a game this season and tried his heart out in forward and defence. Howe hasn't missed a game either and averaged 5-6 marks a game, is one of the top contested marks and kicked 19.25 (so at least he's had a lot of shots). Clark was one of the most dominant forwards, and although playing half a season he had a fantastic impact on the club and I'm sure if he didn't get injured he'd have around 60 goals. Grimes sneaks in because he's played 21 out of 22 and won quite a lot of the ball
  24. We should be focusing on China more than Darwin, especially with 1 billion members at stake.
  25. Finally? What about that ripper against Port Adelaide in September last year?
