  1. Watts, Dawes, Pederson, JKH, Bail, Salem, formally Howe.....have we got or have had in the past 2 seasons ANY forwards we regard as consistent, effective, team orientated, etc etc......no, none, zippo. It's lucky to get forward 35 times a game, and almost always slowly......Gunston, Jack Darling, Hawkins, riewoldt, they'd all struggle in our forward line. It's bloody hard to play forward when it doesn't get there. I don't love watts, think he is soft and it frustrates me he isn't the quality I wanted for a pick 1, but seriously his skills and ability make me want him in a successful demons team. Get some bloody mids and move on.
  2. Out, JKH In, Salem as sub Dees by six goals.
  3. So very painful to watch, worst effort since Rd 2. Skills were appalling, shocking, laughable at times. very few positives in this one - thank goodness Casey had a good win and showed some form. the number of players who can't hit a target more than 25m is aweful - it means they also don't do the risky 45m pass that opens the game up cause they are scared of stuffing up - Watts is the only guy, maybe with Howe who can have one kick and open the game up - for all his failings this skill is desperately needed. McKenzie was embarrassing. Dreadful - and to think we have the Hawks next week!
  4. How about we win four of the last five, push the Hawks for 3qtrs and Hogan kicks 4 on debut to get us over the Kangas. It's unlikely, but it is possible. Would hate to finish last, do over it. The improvement this year is obvious, but we need all players training all summer knowing that they did actually beat some teams, and when on can succeed, not maybe if on might go ok. The tide is turning, be geez we need every step to keep going forward. Frawley will Likely leave, but some good players will come in. We need more wins to help Roos message get through even more, to the current crop and the next batch coming in. Time to win Dees.
  5. Makes for interesting reading, well done. Does highlight if we took our chances and the a Saints hadn't there would be 3-4 games between us, not %.
  6. Really enjoyed a weekend with some spare time, and then settled in for a tight Magpies lose. Great day! Pressure on Big Bucks and sir Eddie, love that.
  7. Well the cats are clearly into him having watched the footy show, Scott clearly has met Frawley.
  8. Ling was made captain in 2010 after Harley retired. Both had massive respect from their club and team mates, and both were clearly not the best players, nor even in the top couple in an unbelievably talented team. It seems the Cats picked the best, strong, disciplined and trust worthy player to lead their elite teams, almost regardless of talent on the field. Maxwell is similar. Voss, Buckley and even Hird were nothing like this, they are elite players who captained for different reasons. We all struggle with grimes and want Jones as sole skipper, when clearly Grimesy has very good leadership skills, despite his kicking. Roos is one the of the very very best coaches in decades, it would be great to have him for longer, but if not I'd rather him picking someone than us. He won't be caught out by a Neeld tough guy approach, or a Bailey players mate approach (perhaps brad Scott is similar). If he thinks Ling awesome, if he thinks Rawlings, great, maybe Dew will change his mind? Go dees
  9. Before watching today's game with the kids I noted the "line" was 48.5 pts, and thought we were a good chance to get inside that, but not a lot more. Perhaps Port had been down recently, but I'm also pretty sure our form of recent times was awful. I'm far more encouraged by a 3 pt loss on the road than a goal loss in Melbourne to the bulldogs. We all know we still have some holes in the team, some outside speed, a great kick or two down back and another Tyson. Given how badly we've tailed off in recent years late in the season I'm now wanting to see five strong performances coming home. Win as many as possible Dees, I'd really like three more. There was a lot to like, and as always some shocking skill errors, but we are kidding ourselves if we didn't think 50+ when five goals down early. The boys are starting to get some ticker, can't wait to see it combined with skill, and then confidence. Geelong should never have won last night in the end, but they did because of belief in one another, and once again they had bartel! sElwood, taylor, Johnson and co. A bright five weeks ahead Dees, keep at it.
  10. Well done both. Re Barry......is Dean Towers any good? A high enough draft pick for the swans two years ago and hasn't played a game until named this week. As I heard him named on the radio I just assumed another strong bodied mid would come in and do a job for them.......can't wait till we think of our own players this way.
  11. Not sure the benefit in poking at each other.... Like all clubs there will be players who want out, more game time etc. at lower clubs likely even more with success often bringing much happier depth. At clubs with no history and in a shite area then this could be even higher. So expect GWS have quite a few. Boyd, he'd be amazing as a dee of course. Unlikely though. I'd take shiel and move on!
  12. 6. Howe 5. Jamar 4. Frawley 3. Viney 2. Grimes 1. Jetta
  13. Still reckon Frawley is in our best 10-12 players, and we need all of them to stick around. He smashed Jones today and looked good down back with some nice dash. Can't think of a player who didn't stuff something today, Frawley did also. Would much prefer he stay than go, would say some great things about us as a club. Sadly I reckon he will play round 1 next year at full back on gunston for the Cats.
  14. Really like the fact that Roos makes few changes, backs a player in for a few weeks when they get a chance, and forgives a shocker. Becoming like the Aussie cricket team, hard to get in, hard to get out of. We can tell the team simply from how they name Casey, no surprises, no late withdrawals, no games being played. Simple straight honest footy. This Roos bloke is so impressive, and so simple. Hogan about to re sign a nice finish to what started as a ripping week. Sitting at home watching the last quarter again, gotta love that!
  15. Time to lift Scorps, 15 listed Demons players on the TV game. Hopefully we see blease! Michie, JKH and big fitzy put in blinders.
  16. Harsh call, how do we know? Haven't seen Nicho play this year, and going off last years form he was as welcome as Pederson, Terlich and Dunn in pre season.
  17. Salem to be the sub and come on fresh late in quarter 3, replacing Gawn. Big Jamar can be nicely rested having shared the ruck and we run harder in the last. Go Dees.
  18. Roos contract extension. We are already seeing players we had all written off become reliable decent footballers. Roos is top 4-5 coaches in the game, and only they win flags..... Players will come, but for now agree with many that a dashing good kick from half back would be sensational. Actually think Salem could be the player over time.
  19. Was chatting with a bloke at the airport this morning, a Hawks fan who was very happy with Dom Tyson in his supercoach team, and then he finished with "geez Nathan Jones is a bloody good, tough player" after watching yesterday. Respect is coming.
  20. To be honest really want him to stay so we keep a settled group and only trade or delist blokes who Roos is happy to move on. We have seen in 8 weeks the reward that can come from having a settled playing group. Our team lost last night and most of us are shattered, hasn't it been far too long since that feeling! Frawley played his role last night, better than some and not as good as others. Those expecting him to star week in week out at CHF and reckon he's not trying need only look as far as AA Defender Carlisle for how hard the switch can be. It's much harder to play key forward than key back in the Roos game plan, swans, they competed for so long effectively due to Barry Hall and Micky O, two elite forwards. We are building toward that, surely Frawley can be as effective as Micky O if we give hi some time. A pre season training at CHF would help.
  21. Hopefully little change. In Clisby (held over yesterday, must be close, play as sub) Out Byrnes Salem to play 3 qtrs. Could live with no change. Hope Terlich is ok, yes he makes a few errors but we clearly dropped off down back when he went off. Ability to win contested ball is great from him.
  22. Tyson Cross Daylight Jamar Terlich Howe n jones Good to have garland back
  23. Tyson Cross Daylight Jamar Terlich Howe n jones Good to have garland back
  24. Reckon we were clearly better but somehow they scored easily. Missed grimes down back, was ok on Griffen but did nothing offensive. Agree we missed Terlich when he went off, he seems to take contested marks and rarely loses a tough one on one. Shattered, we were the better team bar libba, he is our Tyson.
  25. Wow we got an absolute star in Tyson, he is so so so very good in tight. Seems to get hands on the ball so often, keeps his arms free and has the ability to side step. If he could kick like Vince he'd be magnificent. We've been waiting for an on ball gun for 15 years, I think we have our man. We really should win this now, one point will do.
