Is he any better or worse than Elliot Yeo was this time last year. I wasn't at all keen on Yeo, but geez I'd love to have him now.
-
Well done Tom Boyd, kicks the last goal to give footscray a 3pt win over port Melbourne, effectively ending ports finals campaign and locking in the scorps!
-
If you haven't worth reading the Red Fox all about norm smith. Great book about our history. Hardto fathom now but we were feared for decades back then.

Gawns two hit outs to Viney have been stunning
-
In junior footy Tommy Mac played Ruck/Fwd pocket. Cn he do it for a few weeks at AFL level, so a Fitzy can play back?

I thought Roos nailed it. We kicked 7.18.....not 11.14.....or 15.10......and so we lost. We kept the Bombers under 70, tick. We kicked 7.18, fail. Their FF kicked 5.0, ours sulked about and was soundly beaten. Then our FB went forward, dominated, and kicked 1.2 plus out of bounds, so we lost. On the day overall out midfield won the contest. But ours conversion was pathetic. Make whatever changes we want next week, if we kick like that again we will lose, if we kick 18.5, we will win. Simple game footy.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 15
1964nowMORE replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Think about this one from the Bombers side, rather than dealing with our own fear of succeeding. We are all so scared of success having never seen it in the last decade. The Bombers are following up a record loss to an equally lowly team, and have lost their Captain and best player, and decided too blood 3-4 young kids who have been in questionable form in the VFL. Sound familiar? We have lived through this for years. Did any of us seriously think after someone smashed us we'd be cherry ripe the next week cause a Grimes was injured and replaced in the side by a very young Bail, Taggert and Gillies? That's what they are dishing up. Dees by 32. Brissy game much tougher because they have a midfield. Beams, Rockliff, Hanley and Redden are to be respected. -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 15

Love this side, genuinely excited for the game. Very happy to see Stretch named at HBF again, having played there the last two weeks. We have been weak this this area, if he can defend the smalls it will be a big win, as he can kick it. Maybe a Brodie Smith style impact. Will done Harmesy, you have helped keep some others kids dream alive of playing for the team they follow. -
Wow, this is unexpected, and bloody good. Some really competent footy in that half Dees, great stuff. Viney on Selwood is perfect, he doesn't care about 186 or how good they've been, or how shite we've been, he just smashes in at the next contest. Brayshaw the same. And Bernie Vince is a very very good player.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 11
1964nowMORE replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
We will certainly need fitzy next week against the Blitz show at Geelong, lucky Stanley is out, hopefully Mitch not back. I like the team this week but it is also very young and inexperienced. Brayshaw, Stretch, Toumpas, ANB, Michie all very young in their careers. -
Was just 13 at the time, and can still remember listening to the end of the bulldogs game on 3LO, then we smashed, absolutely smashed North and then the swans two weeks running. It was unbelievable momentum. Anyone ever wonder about how much confidence plays a role have a look at those games. To go to my first ever finals game, and win 158-40 was stunning. To watch Eishold miss, flower not kicked to in the goal square and stynes run across the mark was about the saddest memory I have. Carlton would have smashed us the week after......but still.
-
A nice little aside, Toumpas absolutely played his role today, and good on him. Jack Macrae didn't even get picked and The Bont was completely outclassed by our Bernie!
-
We would have win tonight with just two other players. Pick them, Fyfe and Mundy or Hodge and Lewis. Everything, every single little thing revolves around the main four in the middle.....and ours doesn't include any of the above four, or Kennedy and Hanneberry for that matter. We desperately need Brayshaw and Petracca to be those two. It ends there. The rest flows, we have talent everywhere except our best two mids. Our aren't good enough, it's very simple. Hodge and Lewis make mcEvoy or Ceglar look good, spencer would look good playing for the hawks.
-
Once again the true value of a pair of gun mids impact on the game and their teammates is being shown in Sydney. Hodge and Lewis out and all of a sudden the fringe hawks look much weaker. Love to see the giants hang on.
-
Is he a bit like Bell at Carlscum? Big bodied mid who came in late and now looks the part.

MATCH PREVIEW & TEAM SELECTION - Round 4

Odds are outrageous. Dees a very big chance. Some serious quality out of that Tigers team, and we handle them pretty well usually. Happy Deledio out. We will win, I'm going and quite confident. -
Hampson bog in vfl. We may need Pedo.

Adelaide v Melbourne POST MATCH DISCUSSION - ROUND 3
1964nowMORE replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not sure if you could see on the TV, but after Hogan kicked one off the ground in the 3rd ( when Brayshaw took a step too many) he tried very hard to pump the rest of the players up....looked like "c'mon boys lift.....we can get these blokes......go boys". Had leadership all over it. -
Out Frost In Michie. More mid depth please. Watts or Dawes can ruck for the ten minutes Jamar can't.

Adelaide v Melbourne POST MATCH DISCUSSION - ROUND 3
1964nowMORE replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
From the game here in Adelaide a few differing views to those who watched on TV it seems. We very much could have won this but needed to take our chances, we did last year, we didn't this year. Frost, Garlett x2 and hogan misses from set shots were awful. We needed them. Hogan is a gun, he can takes marks against two. Wow it's great to have him. McDonald was very good also, walker got a couple cheap. I though Tyson and Newton were pretty ordinary. Jones was ok, Vberg ok, H pretty good. Umpires cost us a few. Bernie was tough at it and made Dangerfield suffer a tough day, he did little. Sloan their best. Dawes did a lot of good today, but it was almost always him vs 2-3 in a contest he needed to nullify. He is very good at that. He is very poor at rewarding himself with a cheap goal and mark. Watts two dropped marks were aweful, they really cost us some mojo, and got the crowd up and about again. We went hard, had a crack......but after Hogans miss the score was 6.11 vs 11.6.....enough said. We didn't switch enough or play fast when we could. And when we had them out the back due to some great defence work we stuffed the long kick forward too often. If Garlett can kick straight he will be gold. Good effort, really good......but I'd like the win. We should beat the tigers next week. -
Rain has passed, overcast but should be pretty fine throughout. Good to see quite a few Dees fans on the plane and getting about the city. I have two very excited boys with me for their first ever footy trip interstate, first visit to adelaide, their first win at Adelaide oval is the plan. Must say I read the P Walsh story in the paper today, seems a very mature, well thought bloke, no wonder they've started well. Go Dees.

Loved it, great video MFC. If Vanders had been taken at pick 2 instead of Petracca right now I'd be very satisfied with the scouts and recruiters......to think he comes as a Rookie pick 2 is extraordinary! Wow MFC, just wow.
-
Couple of other clubs joined our ACL bad news, Mckenzie a huge loss for WCE as would Libba be for the Doggies, no matter how good Macrae and Bonts are. Beams looks very good still, really pleased he's not at Collingwood.

In again thanks Deevoted. Sign me up.

Training - Monday 26th January, 2015
1964nowMORE replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'll admit to being a glass half full guy up front. Headed down to training for the first time in ages today, the persistent rain didn't help for viewing, or training for that matter. I'm not seeing all the poor skills Clint is talking about, felt like I saw 25-30 kicks in a row hit a leading forward nicely. In match simulation grimes did miss the target on his left.....but he only had it as Salem got caught and he had followed up from deep defence, the grimes story! Really liked what I saw, a lot, I mean a lot of fit healthy, sharp looking players. Toumpas was much faster than I thought. Pedo looked good forward and higher up the ground, kick it well and clunked it. Lead and clean grab out in front of the day for me was big Maxy Gawn, he might just be very intimidating deep forward. We have plenty who can play tall forward with Gawn, Hogan, Pedo, Fitzy, Jamar and Watts all doing it today. Rawlings was teaching a group how to body off when deep forward with your shoulder, and then likewise how to prevent a forward doing this to you......cross very good at this as was Garland. I really liked the look of Newton throughout, from today he would be my pick as an unassuming player who slots 18+ games of good intensity and skill. The defenders (from memory Grimes, tmac, frost, garlo, Harmes, hunt, Terlich, Jetta, Dunn) did some impressive clearing the ball from defence, and after hitting a player about 50-70m out wide on the flank centered in board to Rawlings and then had runners storming past. Grimes excelled at this, Harmes looked good and wow, gee wow isn't hunt super super quick. If he can get on the end of handball running through the middle look out opposition, even if that is Port Melbourne not Richmond. Didn't see a lot of the new young ones, though Petracca did some nice things, Dunny was really pushing him in the ground simulation a few times....."get forward Track, get forward, go.....". Funny moment was when tmac sold viney a huge dummy in the goal square and kicked a goal, boys had a real chuckle. There is some real depth now. A bright year awaits. No Howe, and Vince ran 50 laps.- 188 replies
