hmmm looks like you're in the monority jarka. With 78% of voters(neutral most likely too) believing Gary Ablett IS NOT the most skilled player in the comp. Oh well, better luck next time. too easy http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=582123
-
elite kick? lol one eyed melbourne supporters are the only ones that think he has an above average kick.
-
ummm jarka, i said he was the best midfielder in the comp u spud. learn to read
-
I completely disagree. Players disposals rarely improve dramatically over the years. just look at richo, bate, schammer etc. And some times experience can make you a worse kick, just ask nick riewoldt. And brad sewell still isnt a great kick. inside 50's has nothing to do with quality of disposals. Its like talking to a 6 year old.
-
The guy that criticised me when i said ablett was definitely not the most skilled player in the comp. whoever that was.
-
i expected good foot skills
-
ties is with what i said on the issue of gary ablett not being the most skillful player in the comp.
-
I'm just glad hawthorn supporters aren't reading this. Comparing Morton to Rioli is comparing quantity versus quality.
-
well if they rated grimes as the 4th best player then our recruiting staff have some issues. His kicking action is flawed, not majorly..but its flawed nonetheless
-
oh geez, u really are 10 years old. I can't believe you fell for the 'oh we rated our recruit so much higher than what we got him at. What a bargain' trick. Every recruiter says that. Grimes looks great, apart from his kicking action. similar to cheney if you ask me.

Steve Johnson is a very very very good footballer. 40 possessions from Steve Johnson would be more valuable than 40 possessions from Ablett. I am actually starting to think that you guys are like 10 years old. I'm not saying that Johnson is a better player, i'm saying he is a more skillful. BIG DIFFERENCE. But give me franklin over ablett every single day of the week. 113 goals last year and will win the coleman this year
-
Franklin not in the top 20 players in the comp? haha, NOW I'VE HEARD IT ALL. he is still equal 1st in the coleman medal for Gods sake. I'm not saying Ablett is bad, he is still the best midfielder in the comp but Steve Johnson has better awareness, and is a more accurate snap of the footy than Ablett in my opinion. Ablett has never pulled off a handball like that. And abletts kicking action is biomechanically flawed. His head is too far over the footy, sacrificing distance on his kicks. I would show you Daniel motlops highlights too but that would just make it unfair on you guys.

I loved Leoncelli.

lol, are you joking? Ablett isn't close to being one of the most skillful players in the comp. He has an ability to break tackles, but his footskills are not even close to rioli's. Ablett is simply good because his body shape is impossible to tackle. Most skilfull players in my opinion are 1.Rioli 2. Steve Johnson 3. Daniel Motlop All have done things Ablett simply cant do. The reason Ablett is the 2nd best player in the comp (behind franklin..best KP is always better than the best midfielder) is because he has a greater work rate, a stronger body, and a better team around him.
-
Rioli - match winner, premiership and is the most skillful player in todays game. Possible All-Australian as early as this year. Can't see how anyone would consider putting anyone else above him
-
jamar WILL NOT play. he played 50-60% game time for casey. he needs at least another week for casey.
-
he got 25 touches, not 27. get your facts right before you post. Its only 2 touches different..so i'll just say he got 23 touches.
-
if we win, we wont get the priority pick. simple as that. as we play west coast, freo and richmond all at the mcg later on in the season. not to mention port at the g and essendon too. we could easily win 6 or 7 if we are stupid
-
He wasn't as bad as others i'd agree. its just that i saw him play much better the previous game

As much as i'd love to name players' names, i won't. But people on here seem to list someones disposal efficiency when talking about how good a players disposals are. This can be dangerous for the following reasons: - a successful short kick in the back line that goes side ways or backwards is considered to be AS EFFECTIVE as a successful 60metres spearing pass into the corridor. - an unsuccesful kick in the backline is alot more risky than an unsuccesful kick deep into our forward line YET both are considered to be equally as ineffective. - A player that is a bad kick may have a good option in the corridor or up forward yet due to his bad foot skills he may opt to take the easy option and therefore kick sideways or backwards. So whilst he records a effective disposal stat next to his name, he has restricted his team from getting the ball into the corridor and limited their chances of kicking a goal. -Players that are receivers and play quarter back roles should have high disposal efficiencies simply because (more often than not) they are kicking under no pressure. Ultimately, there is no reason a 100% efficiency rating shouldnt be obtained by a player that has nothing more than 30metre kicks in open wide spaces. On the contrary, an in and under player that has plenty of pressure on them as they are disposing of the ball should be excused for slightly lower efficiency ratings for obvious reasons. - Handballing is easier to hit the target than a kick, mostly because the distance is usually only 1-10 metres. A player with many handballs should have higher disposal efficiency ratings. People wonder why stefan martin records high disposal efficiency ratings most weeks. its because he handballs alot and his few kicks are usually under 30metres. - If your disposal rating is 90% or above every single week it shows that you're either a freak of nature or that you simply don't take enough risks. It's mostly the latter. Good players like Goddard, Hodge, Gilbee etc try to get their team into a better position by utilising their footskills whereas less skilled players instead just try to hit a target that may be in an equal or often worse position. Yet, once again, both would record an effective disposal stat for their efforts. So when listing a players disposal efficiency take this into account

interesting point. But grimes also didnt play well in his last game at casey, yet he got promoted and he seemed to go okay. I saw both the reserves and the seniors today and unfortunately there were no highlights. Bells tackling was really really good...that was the best highlight. Jurrah, Watts and Strauss all did nothing...and I mean nothing. Even Jordie Mckenzie had a disappointing game.
-
well i for one isn't a big wrap for grimes kicking..his drop of the ball is awkward. Anyway, his overhead marking ability is fantastic, like cheney. in fact he is very similar to cheney i reckon. Also with Rivers, Frawley and Garland back. I think Grimes and Cheney will be made to look even better. FB: Frawley Martin Garland HB: Grimes Rivers Cheney

his kick getting smothered happens every single week. no surprises there
