u say this yet your number 1 point is right on the money. we need to win as many games as we can provided its not more than 4. No-one can deny this
-
yeh thats just flawed logic because you don't add the percentages/ for example if we are 25% of winning against team A, and 25% chance of winning against team B the next round, that doesnt mean we are 50% chance of winning one of these games. is my logic right mathematicians out there?

It would be stupid to delist Bate when he has trade value. You Sir would make a cr@p coach
-
we play west coast twice(Subi, MCG), richmond(MCG), port(MCG), essendon(MCG) and fremantle(MCG). These are the only games we are capable of winning. Of these games Port and Essendon should beast us, but an upset isnt out of the question. Hopefully, by the time we play fremantle and richmond again we put the cue in the rack and Watts, Cheney, Maric, Strauss, Bennell, Jetta are all playing in the same team

In: Bail, Mcnamara Out: Bate, Bennell

yep, he had a couple of silly turn-overs...and was lucky to be named in the best. got reported too

don't worry guys. the forecast thing has an error in it. I went through each round to check the forecast and it had us finishing on only 1 win yet on the ladder it suggested we won 5. Doesnn't make sense

A bit of negativity has been on these boards so far this year, and i've admittedly been focussing on it too so I thought it would be interesting to see what peoples 5 most positive things they can take from the first 6 rounds. 1. James Frawley: Has emerged as a player that will play Key position or on a small for many years. He is a great tackler, very quick for somebody his height and will continually bulk up. He had plenty of doubters but I always knew he would come good. A lot of people with egg on their face here. 2. Petterd: Has shown his ability to find space and get a bit of the footy. Has not lost an ounce of courage either. 3. Morton: Not so much his dosposals but his ability to find the footy has improved from averaging 17-18 touches a game to over 23 touches a game in only his 2nd season. That in itself is impressive enough. 4. Moloney: Its great to see him on the park playing great footy. He is one of our midfielders that is a good kick and hence I feel safe when he has the ball. 5. Davey: Finding plenty of the ball, mostly from running behind others and receiving it..but his disposals are hitting their targets and thats something he really seperates himself from our other midfielders. Disappointing that he missed the goal in the first quarter against the cats...but is our only chance for All-Australian this year and given our position on the ladder, even that is a longshot. Hopefully he keeps finding it.

and you've forgotten richmond again. so thats 5 wins. crap!
-
He kicked a goal a game in his first season. i mean even Buddy only kicked a goal a game in his first season. I'm not suggesting that Dunn is a key position, i'm suggesting him to be a third tall as he has a nous for kicking goals. He puts on good defensive pressure when he doesn't have it and how he gets his goalas are irrelevent, he gets them and has proven to get them when played forward.
-
yeh good goal but we has trying to centre it.
-
id be happy if we lost all of those games as i understand the need for that priority pick. Nevertheless i'd like to see bennell improve as im not that impressed thus far.

Agree with most elements of this post. But I definitely was never on Bates bandwagon. He has not been far behind the 'Miller is a hack' bandwagon that ive been driving for many years. I'm not too sure why Newton is so maligned here. Whilst recently he has been kicking shocking he is usually a good kick for goal and does chase and put pressure on the opposition. He does do alot of the 1%ers, maybe i just don'tsee what everyone else does but I see him chasing all the time. All thats missing is half decent supply and 'Miller-like' opportunities to prove his worth. Dunn up forward is bleeding obvious. it just has to be done. Bell is a natural footballer and whilst i agree that half of our team has poor awareness, Bell has the worst. He has to turn full 180 degrees just to see whats behind him. Happy to keep him as a back up

Bartram - intensity set tone Bate - AFL's worst ranga Bennell - turnover after turnover Bruce - costly missed goal (in qtr 1) Davey - continually hit targets Dunn - playing wrong position Frawley - Arguably our best Johnson - Didn't mind him Jones - Very good game Maric - rushed his disposals McDonald - Never plays poorly Martin - An under-rated player McLean - Returning to form Meesen - Only 5 hitouts Miller - fewer costly mistakes Moloney - great first half Morton - terrific and horrible Petterd - a good game Rivers - did his role Robertson - a pleasing return Sylvia - career best tackling Warnock -Did his part
-
i think people are getting a little bit to far ahead with believing we will get the priority pick . we play richmond again, fremantle, west coast at the G, essendon, port at the G...we could easily pull out 4 wins from those games. Even beating brisbane wouldnt be out of the question. Otherwise trading miller would be good. Trading Dunn would be silly. Just play dunn as the 3rd tall forward he is designed to play and then your welcome. Newton is a keeper. Bell is a definite goner and i totally agree with Bate, an absolute spud.
-
the fact that we NEED that priority pick coupled with the fact that Miller is still given our number 1 forward role suggests that we have already started an interesting process called....'the tank'. Nevertheless he does try but Miller will be the sole reason why we hopefully get the priority pick, so ironically, its his best asset.
-
yeh im sure.
-
yeh he looks super impressive. Would much prefer him in our team than miller. he actually has skill. Nevertheless, Millers worst is worse than Newtons worst yet Miller gets given all the time in the world to perform, and with time its bound to happen. Newton, on the other hand, gets booted back to the reserves every 2nd week. Not fair
-
I sort of understand but Newton hasn't been given a good enough opportunity to perform. The coaches have never given more than 4 or 5 games in a row. Unlike miller who performs worse than Newton at afl level but gets more than enough opportunity. I just think that if he was given a whole year (e.g. 22 games) to perform then we would actually see 50 goals from him. Watts was good, but I just don't feel that he deserved to be named in the best. Hughes took contested marks and took on the opposition more as well as kicking numerous goals. So I think the hype put Watts in the best more so than his actual game. Watts would have been my first emergency for the bests

Hey guys, i did the stats for casey today. Grimes and Cheney both had over 20 touches...in fact both had 11 and 12 touches respectively after quarter time. McKenzie was great, he goes in really hard. McNamara also had 20 touches and kicked very long regularly. Improving very quickly. Also James Strauss got reported in the reserves match for a crashing into the back of an opponent that was running back with the flight. It was a good hit(i enjoyed it)...should get off. Newton was great...but Moore from Casey is a really good player. Wouldn't mind drafting him to be honest, I don't know his age or anything about him but is a pretty handy player. My best of the melbourne players would be: Hughes, Newton, Mckenzie, McNamara.
-
trying to be creative? are u joking? He sh!ts his pants everytime he has it. He just tries to get rid of it as soon as possible. The clip of him running away from Lade really sums him up. He may of got the ball later on in that passage of play but do you think James Mcdonald, Mclean, Jones, Miller, , Frawley, Rivers, Sylvia, Dunn, Petterd, Martin qould have run away? Unlikely.

# get "too Gary Ablett" focussed

the only reason i'm doing it now is because 5 years everyone will be calling to trade morton and i'll just be rolling my eyes thinking 'where do i start other than i told you so' as has been the case with daniel bell, miller, bate etc etc etc.
-
i'm sorry but palmer is definitely a better kick of the footy. He takes risks whereas Morton doesn't. thats the only difference. Making mistakes taking risks is a lot better than making mistakes not taking risks. As flattering as Mortons ability to find the ball is, it's equally as disheartening the way he uses the footy. They cancel each other out.
-
i'm not specifically targetting morton. players that plain and simply don't have afl listed skills i just can't tolerate. morton, miller, daniel bell and bate all fall into this category. i think the players from the demonland inter-forum games have better skills than this lot. Also one thing i hate, Morton is so unsure of himself. He hardly ever knows what he is going to do. he changes his mind like 100 times. FIRST OPTION IS ALWAYS THE BEST OPTION CALE.
