  1. Carrolls 'hit' on gherig was actually a tackle not a hit..big difference. My highlight was our great win over geelong, Dunn played his first game i think and played well and Bate played a good game. Brock was fantastic though.
  2. What about the games where Yze kicked 5 against the pies?...do people just forget those games?!! That was a finals like atmosphere. not only is yze in the 22, starting 18 every game. It looks like, unlike the Miller selection, that myself and the melbourne footy club selection committee finally have some common ground and that is Yze.
  3. I mean I know Miller isnt the worst player in the AFL, but how he got into the LEADERSHIP group is just an embarrassment. I gave an example which was typical of him, therefore im not summing him up purely on that decision. When he marks the ball and turns around to give the handball he has missed the target from about a metre away several times. I could go on but will not. How is this for a stat: In 11 home and away games Dunn has kicked 13 goals. In 2005 AND 2006 Miller has kicked a TOTAL of 8 goals. Both are forwards and forwards must kick goals. Also Miller played 15 games last season. In 5 of those games he achieved 8 possessions or under and 7 games with 10 possessions or under...and with substantial game time in each
  4. What about when miller slapped it down to akermanis in front of the goals?...that sort of play is typical miller and he has no tools to make it at an afl level. I cant believe people think that Dunn should have got a best on ground performance in one of his 11 games. Your expectations are wayyyyyy too high! Dunn kicks goals, miller doesnt. Miller cannot handball, kick or take contested marks. All he does is lead to ineffective areas of the ground and end up stuffing it up anyway. I actually think half the people on this forum have more football talent than miller. He is a perfect example that if you have the perfect footballing body and physique than you are 90% of the way to getting put on a list.
  5. Sylvia will be up and running for round 1. If he is good enough he will get chosen. Round 1 is still ages away and Sylvia is starting to train after christmas..just like every other year.
  6. FB: Whelan Carroll Warnock HB: Bartram Rivers Ward C: Davey McLean Bate HF: Green Dunn Bruce FF: Yze Neitz Robertson Foll: White, Johnstone, McDonald Int: Jamar, Sylvia, Pickett, Jones I think that both Green and Bruce should be used up forward to be the most effective. Dunn has shown more than Miller has and deserves to be named in round 1. Yze is too good not to be named in our starting 18. He kicks too many goals to be left out.
  7. Meanwhile poor old Sylvia is on the sidelines watching his mate Mclean burn up pre-season training and openly state that he wants to be captain whilst knowing that he was taken higher in the draft and hasnt met expectations thus far. Im sorry Col but I'm changing my display pic from you to Brock.
  8. Best 18 in my opinion as well.
  9. and theres no way dunn is 191cm and 94.7kg!..he would be closer to 84 than 94.
  10. In terms of being excited about youngsters in my opinion it goes 1. Mclean, 2.Bate, 3.Jones 4.Bartram, 5.Dunn, 6.Sylvia. 7.Chris Johnson, 8.Newton.
  11. I jsut got the Melbournefc Magazine today in the mail and was just flipping through it and had a look at the list and noticed that their weights seemed to differ significantly from those listed on the official website. The weights below are what is stated in the magazine compared to the website. Bartram: +5kg Buckley: +7kg Davey: +5kg Ferguson:+8kg Johnson: +5kg Jones: -3.5kg Mclean: +4kg Newton: -1kg Rivers: +5kg Sylvia has grown 2cm and Robertson has grown 3cm. haha
  12. Obviously Weetra is regarded as better though because he was taken in the National draft. i must admit, Hayes sounds impressive though.
  13. did he make this comment before or after the rookie/national draft?
  14. Getting a bit personal aren't we? Not once have I made my posts personal
  15. Hehe, very good point that you make. I would prefer to hear only good news though and have the bad news swept under the carpet! I actually believe Hughes is better than most people give him credit for. I think he should be close to senior selection yet he isnt even on the senior list yet. There is something about hughes that I like and if Miller and Bell can get gigs than Hughes deserves one. I reckon he could kick 35+ goals from a pocket next year.
  16. A good report but not a very positive one. All i got out of that was that Sylvia is gonna miss out on another full pre-season, not to mention petterd, hughes, bartram, Moloney, Johnson and Whelan all not taking part in full training . I also got out of it that both Fralwey and Garland have unco kicking actions and probably wont be seen in 07 and Weetra has alot of work to do. Added to that both Dunn and Newton have not added much needed weight and we have no decent rookies training with us If was to pick out 5 things i wanted out of this pre-season from an individual players perspective it would be: 1. Sylvia to get through it. 2. Dunn to bulk up considerably 3. Unearth 1 potential 07 debut player (e.g. Bartram) 4. moloney to have a full pre-season. 5. Bate and Jones to get quicker (i.e. evasive movements). Looks like not much of these are looking good.
  17. No way would Bate have been a top 3 pick a year later. The recuiters take their age into account when drafting them.
  18. I think Sylvia's Wizard cup form was fantastic and he was consistently in our best players. Definate A-grader. If he plays next season like he did in those Wizard cup games he will be able to finish top 5 in our best and fairest. But i doubt he will be able to do that because he is either injured or in the forward pocket.
  19. Im sorry but Bell will always be a player who has no sense of awareness. You cant teach having awareness, it just comes naturally.
  20. I dont think Miller is hard anyway. Dont be fooled by Miller's biggish frame and unshaven look, he gets pushed away by smaller opponents and doesnt like the physcial contact some people are lead to believe. When he leads he runs underneath the ball because he fears contact from behind if he is to slow down and put his arms up to the ball. The Akermanis incident where he punched the ball because he thought he was surrounded by opponents was typical Miller, when he should have just grabbed the ball and taken what he thought was some opponents and taken the tackling pressure.
  21. Also, Buckley and Neville wont be delisted as we only picked them up last year! I think all first year draftees are given a 2 year contract. You cant expect a youngster to have an impact in their first season. Thats ridiculous.
  22. I think you are a bit wrong about Buckley. He is one of the best kicks in the entire competition and hits targets every time. My top 5 overrated are: 1. Anthony Koutoufides(He was good....like 5 years ago) 2. James Clement(timid, soft and always hesitates) 3. Brad Miller(its an honest thread and if you cant handle it, bad luck. Cant kick goals, take contested marks or even find the ball, he averages about 10 possessions a game and for someone that is actually being considered as captain material is ridiculous. Drastically Over-rated.) 4. Josh Fraser(beanpole that can be broken like a twig) 5. Steven King(worst captain in the league, is always injured and when he makes his much anticipated return he never delivers) Underrated 1. Steve Johnson(If not for injury, Geelong would have won the premiership, super talented forward/midfielder) 2. Scott Thompson(was always going to be awesome, i knew it all along, Melbourne didnt try hard enough to keep him, more $$$ would have done the trick) 3. Rhyce Shaw(Not as bad as people make him out to be, very quick and a penetrating kick) 4. Whelan(I rate him as our best backmen, he simply cannot be caught and is a great tackler) 5. Lance Franklin(If i was a hawks fan I would be giving hyping this guy up. In my opinion he has more talent than any young player inluding deledio. He kicked 20 goals in his first season)
  23. Sylvia's groin problems are coming back apparently. Very bad news.
  24. Voss and Hird not champions? I would say yes, every supporter from opposing teams would respect these 2.
