  1. Keep him......his last injury was a collision injury which is just bad luck. Who knows, doing his shoulder and having a break from footy may help him get over his op for good. I'm tipping a big year for him in 2009........he was just hitting his straps before doing his shoulder......with Moloney and Rivers on the park we'll be much more competitive next year.
  2. Could be on the cards according to this article! PSD pick 1 or maybe 3rd round draft pick for mine.....depends what happens with warnock http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...5012432,00.html
  3. Not bad for pick 53 in the 2005 draft.....lots to work with
  4. Not sure if it has been posted (didn't read the whole thread). A bit of history about the demons..... "MELBOURNE The Demons Nickname variations in modern use: 'Dees'; 'Redlegs'. Formed in 1858. Foundation member of the VFL in 1897. Premiers: 1900, 1926, 1939-41, 1948, 1955-57, 1959-60, 1964. In its early years the club wore all-white outfits and was known as the 'Whites' or 'Invincible Whites' prior to 1872¹. A member of the club, Larry Bell, returned from a trip to England with four pairs of stockinged socks, the two red pairs went to the Melbourne club and the nickname of 'Redlegs', still used today, was born. Melbourne added blue knickerbockers and guernsey as well as a red cap to make up their outfit in the same year, 1872. This ensemble led to the 'Fuchsias' nickname also being used, as the red cap reminded many of this flower. Frank 'Checker' Hughes, a premiership player and coach at Richmond, took over the coaching role at Melbourne in 1933. Legend has it that, early in his tenure, 'Checker' told his players You are playing like a lot of flowers. Lift your heads and play like demons! The name was promptly embraced and the 'Demons' went on to win four premierships during 'Checker's' reign." http://home.vicnet.net.au/~nickname/afl.html#demons I like option B....................lets bring back the MFC logo & the invincible whites
  5. Honestly...............Sylvia will be a gun.....................if he was playing for Geelong many people would already be calling him one! Remember he's basically playing a lone hand at he moment in the forward line.
  6. Great news...............really excited about the future of this team!
  7. we didn't win the gf in 2000.............so our window wasn't open
  8. what if (won't happen)..........but what if we offered Green & Davey? would we get say a pick 8?
  9. Draft strategy...............................although alot of people wouldn't like this, i think that Brad Green should be put on the table.......he is 27 and currently playing the best footy of his career (i believe). I also believe that our window will only start to open in about 4 years.........which will make Green 31. So why hold onto him? I know people will be saying that we don't have many players in his age group and that we need his leadership for the youngsters(although i believe that you either have leadership or you don't, and with the likes of McLean, Jones, Miller & Bate i don't think it will be a problem). If you were to wind the clock back 4 years, Yze had value.......now he doesn't. We should have traded him, but now all we have is a VFL player.........i don't want that to happen to Green..............so i believe in the best interest for Melbourne and Green for that matter is that he should be traded. Green gets the change to be a premiership player which i'd love to see (even if it was for another team), and Melbourne would probably get a pick around 15 or so. win win i believe.
  10. I'd getting really excited about Grimes.............and what about Maric's 33 touches (i know it's reserves, but still!) Exciting youngsters.............the dees are on the way up (in a couple of years)
  11. After looking at the tape of both Watts and Rich...................i was more impressed by Rich! Booming kick & tackling is impressive. Would definately take him over Watts Although that last pack mark from Watts was great
  12. Doesn't matter where we finish (will be in the bottom 3), i'm just worried about losing our priority pick. Would be the equivalent of not getting Maric last year........now i know he hasn't played yet but for the sake of a win i'd love another early 2nd round draft pick.
  13. From all of the teams at the bottom of the ladder...............i honestly believe that we have the most upside.
  14. I'd rather cousins............far better and would cost less salery and draft wise. Although neither fit the mould Baily is implementing.
  15. Bingo

    Valenti

Just thought i'd give the guy some praise...............cos i haven't seen anything mentioned about him from the brissy game. I thought he was fantastic, i was at the game and made sure i kept an eye on him. 19 touches and 3 tackles..............he is fast becoming one of my favourites
  16. They belted out the song didn't they.................you could tell it meant alot to them!!!
  17. reading the paper this morning.......either miller or green says that PJ is in the top 5 in the club for speed!
  18. Brad was fantastic today!!!!!! Looks much more comfortable when he is the go to guy in the forward line. With no Neitz or Robertson, Miller has flourished!
  19. Give the kid a break...............he is a good young player who was one of the youngest in his draft...............plenty of up side.........just give him some time to adjust and settle into being an afl player.
  20. The pleasing thing that i have noticed in recent weeks with moloney is the fact that he has started to lower his eyes.............we all know that he can kick the thing a mile.............but maybe it's just me but i think the fact that he was running into good form was because he started kicking it to our guys advantage rather than a 65m kick to no where.
  21. I'd like to see Bell put into the midfield and told to just hunt the ball..........give him a completely different role to what he has been playing..................either that or up forward.............i think he needs a change???? what's the worst that could happen?
  22. I have enjoyed following the sandy-melbourne alliance and want to thank everyone involved............... .......but now we have a new team and an opportunity (as others have said) to hopefully develop some forwards. This, in my oppinion is good timing as we now are in need of the next generation of melbourne forwards. Lucky i didn't buy a sandy jumper this season (like i was going to)..........i'll buy a scorpions one instead!

    PJ

Just something that i've noticed, and which i commend Baily for..............but the rise in PJ's stocks has coinsided with the amount of game time that he is now being given. From what i saw yesterday both PJ and White were on the ground for the majority of the game..............when they needed a rest they would just rotate between ruck and the loose man in defence. It can only be a good thing because Daniher only used to give the second ruckman 5mins at the end of each quarter so white could have a rest. What does everyone think?
  24. Maric had a bruised thumb but it's of no concern.....................bruce will be ok for round 1...... and the most positive thing i found out all day was that whelan said he should be back come round 3!!!!!
  25. between 5 and 8 for mine....................potent forward line...................strong bodies in the midfield...............and a backline that well on a good day can hold it's own.......................gotta be optimistic people.................the season hasn't even started and you're giving up on the boys........................last year was a horror year with injuries..................we were predicted to be top 4 material then and i can't see any reason why we can't be now. Infact we are probably more likely to finish top 4 this year because people have written us off. I even think top 4 is possible.
