Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
dees64 replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have waited 13yrs for some justice after that GF loss in 2000! Finally to see the scum on the front & back pages of the paper! It makes our tanking allegations seem like nothing! I hope they get stripped of draft picks, fines, coaches & footy dept banned from football! -
A better penalty for Tippet would be.... Play for whichever team drafts you first Cannot put a price on your head Negotiate with club a minimum 3yr deal
-
Can we get any worse? If we do Neeld needs to hand the keys in!
-
If size was a kpi Flower, Fletcher & Hird would not have made it. I would say attitude/behaviour issues to training were the reasons why he was traded

Caroline Wilson's descent into gutter journalism

The club is keeping quiet to allow the afl to finish the investigation. More damage will be done by coming out & swinging & Im sure the afl has told them also the same I just feel guttered that if true our previous coaching/footy dept would agree to create a losing culture to obtain a couple of picks, thinking that this would solve our on field success..... no easy way out & early picks have yet to yield a star! very sad! -
Caroline Wilson's descent into gutter journalism

I become a member in 1998 to support the club after its failed merger with Hawth (look at what Hawks have achieved after failed merger) Our club continues to go through very unstable periods with Gutnick which was amazing to see Daniher take us to the 00 GF and play in 6 final series out of his 10yrs We copped fines for exceeding the salary cap, constant unstable boards, terrible training facilities at Junction oval, very low membership, treatment of our brownlow meadlist & poor handling of Daniher who should have been shown more respect, and racking up a 5 mill debt by 07 with an ageing list that played in its last finals game in 06. Then come along Jimmy who seemed to galvanize the right people & clear our debt thru the wonderful & loyal members! But still we saw rumblings within the club with player/footy dept issues that resulted in 186 & coach sacked During this period we obtain many early picks from what many say from tanking which if all true damaged the already fragile culture of this footy club. This was made evident from Brock...hate him or not this is a guy who donated 10k for debt demolition & since then has seen a exodus of senior players who once spoke highly of club loyalty... If true you have to question as to what coach/footy dpt would sell out installing losing into a playing group over getting few extra picks & on top of that see those players leave or delisted! Neeld along with new coaching deemed many of these senior players to be of no use for the future success of the list lets hope so. Why cant we get it right? -
Member since 1998 Supporter since 1969 Grew up in primary & High school laughed at as why I would follow a team who never played finals Cried in 87 Prelim Crushed in 88 & 2000 GF Missed opportunity Daniher yrs Ex redleg member 15yr member I think this gives me & others the right to why our club has gone backwards over the last 6 yrs! I will buy my 16th membership on 2013 as I have faith & hope in current coaching panel I guess the 0.001% of my membership along with the other 35,000 is what makes football clubs....ask the 50-60k at clubs like Haw & Coll. Its snobs like you who think only the big end of town are only important enough to havea say or ask questions...go figure!

We need answers as paid up members & clearing the 5 million debt 1 Who were responsible for so called tanking which created a poor culture in the playing list& resulted in players leaving the club & damaging the culture 2 Was our footy dpt/plyers that split which resulted in the 186 loss 3 Why we have lost so many experienced players some of who were best & fairest winners in recent years 4 Our failed early picks over the last 5-6 yrs no longer at the club 5 Could the current coaches/footy dept not able to turn the above players around I want to be positive about our future with our new coaching & recruiting & they cant be accountable on past picks. Any sanctions re tanking issues will hurt our club very hard & upset many members who have saved this club to see such a poor culture created. Was Bailey a scapegoat not that I rated him much but did to powers higher above who thought early picks would save this club?

Ben Hur is that you real photo????
-
Spot on...happens at all clubs but we have not picked any top guns from early picks & our later picks did not come up Look at the Swans premiership list all very late picks only 3 under pick 20 You need to get some right over the majority of picks early or late

POLL: Do you want Mark Neeld to remain coach in 2013?
dees64 replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
I respect freedom of free speech.......but to have a vote on Neeld after 1 season??? We had a basket case list & shocking drafting....look at the delistings & draft to clera the decks a rebuild of the list. Give Neeld & his team the time -
Don't want to dwell on the past but below are our draft picks in the past decade: 1-Scully gone to GWS compensation picks; 4-Morton- gone to WC for pick 88; 5- Mclean- gone to Blues got pick 11 see below; 11-Gysberts- gone to Nth Melb for Pedderson; 12-Cook- delisted; Include our failures with picks in the 20s & 30s Petterd, Bennell, Maric. This is a train wreck! I feel for Neeld & Craig these picks should have set us up, & we are in rebuild mode & hence experience players were targeted & a clean out was done. So for people having a crack at why....the facts above tell the story
-
the responsibility lays with everyone! Past recruiters who drafted poorly! Senior players who should have taken the responsibility to lead by example & create a culture for all the young players that hard work is required.....instead we now have senior players leave the club because Neeld would not put up with the crap! Why do you think that young captains were appointed? Why has Jones worked hi butt off and become a better player & embraced Neeld,Craig & Mission way? Imagine if we had 3 or 4 jones running around the midfield with his work ethic???? These exits whilst tells a sad story of our list, a new culture was needed & just recruiting kids is not enough. We required strong bodies & successive culture to be pushed through from senior players to our young players.
-
The problem we have is in 2 parts 1 Older players who should have provided leadership eg Moloney,Rivers,Mclean,Sylvia etc have all failed as they have left the club retired with Sylvia still not leader. 2 Many early picks have failed eg Morton,Gysberts,Cook,Maric,Bate,Dunn a real disaster! So as Wallace said as a coach we need some hardness & strong leaders & culture to bring into the group as thus far its not happening. How many of the players who left would get a game at Swans,Geelong,Coll or Haw? maybe rivers who can hold head up high... Moloney would be a stop gap??

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DAVID RODAN
dees64 replied to Demon Head's topic in Melbourne Demons
Its only pick 88..... but Im concerned that he will take up spot for a kid We have lost experience with Rivers & Moloney both late 20s & every list needs a mix of older, mid & young Only time will tell..... the swans continue to be masters at recycled players -
Neeld trying to build new culture Spoke to ex Brisbane Lions footy mgr & indicated that most of the old players didn't buy into Neeld/Mission/Craig tough training regime. Also resisted hard self analysis after each game. Hence why the young captains. Not saying that Rivers was one of them & sad to see him go.....senior players are not cleared in this manner unless if there are strong reasons! Dont think with people like Craig etc would do something this drastic unless required.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CAMERON PEDERSEN

A friend of mine who sponsors the Roos says the players cant wait to see the back of Pedersen. Good player but a loose cannon of the field & not committed to the same cause. -

Imagine if the Swans took this approach with recycled players! -
Will Paul Roos call this a Sad Day in football as he did for free agency? How a premiership team may end up with one of the best Forwards.....something is not right Mr Demetriou!
-
They have the results.... 3 GF in 7 yrs with 2 flags They turn around players from other clubs & get the max out of them They didnt bottom out & get early picks
-
All the big name free agents have gone to clubs who are much closer to winning a flag & those players have yet to taste a premiership eg Goddard. Put yourself in their shoes who would you pick? Not bagging the club just reality Id rather have a crack a Dawes 24 & not pay a fortune than pay over the odds for Lynch who is 30 Lets not forget the Swans list 3 players under pick 20.......Culture

All playing each others bluff! Club cant be that Stupid? -
This our problem not wanting to accept that our recruiting & culture @ our club has been a disgrace! Stop defending poor results! We need look forward & Lets hope current coaching staff & footy dept sets the right culture! If anyone needs further proof of how good the Swans are look at the Herald Sun & shows all the playing list draft numbers Mcveigh pick 5 in 02 & Bolton pick 8 in 98, Jetta 14 in 09 Only 2 picks top 10 in 14Yrs!
-
Very true!....but my point of all this is the culture & hard work of the Swans & I believe that we tried to take the easy way out & the wrong culture was set with the previous footy dept
