Still 0-7 worst start to a season in 30 yrs. The boys have played well in the last 2 games but judging by all the posts it seems like we won our last 2 games. Please lets not forget we are winless and nobody remembers the margin just who won. Honourable losess do not give you the 4 points. Who remembers that collingwood lost by only one kick aganst the lions in 02 Grand Final they just remember the lions winning the flag. I know everyone wll say we have to be positive etc & we have injuries etc but Melbourne always finds a reason why they cant win. The team needs to create an environment that allows them a way to win! Ps: The umpires have robbed us in two games in particular when they paid a free against Neitz that gave the WB a free kick in the centre & a goal resulted. What crap! The pushing in the back needs to be looked at when Sylvia tackled and the player falls over on purpose to make it look like in the back. another goal

People posting on this site are simply frustrated and have every right to question the coach who has been their for 10 yrs and the key weaknesess keep on raising their ugly heads.The players also need to be held accountable because the ones in question are the leaders in the group and consistantly go missing with things get tough. Like any good organisation it needs to hold its employees accountable and measure their performances. How would you feel if you were a shareholder and the company produced smilar results would you not expect changes to be made and look to get the best people to get the desired result?? We should always support the team by buying memberships & going to games but expect people in charge to be holding people accountable

I just cant believe that we would consider resigning Daniher! Nothing against the guy but this guy has had 10yrs with different lists but still cant fix the mental toughness issue. The side continues to have up & down years & long losing streaks. Sorry but if the club wants to achieve a winning culture they need to send a message to the playing list. As far as what coaches are available plenty of assistant coaches Longmire, Harvey,Odonnell all have done apprenterships under premership coaches and as players too & have been around thetype of culture that is required at the MFC

I agree the board are doing good off the feild & getting stabilty but my question is directed towards the culture amongst the playing group & wether the coaching & footy dpt are ruthless enough. Look at the Roos with all the current issues no money, looking at moving interstate, board problems but yet they win today at Geelong after beating the lions away last week. Whats the culture in that playing group? Why can Paul Roos get a culture in the Swans playing list that will not tollerate bad attitudes and poor work ethics within the playing lst. Barry Hall a nut case with St Kilda now captain and diciplined.

Spot on Mightey Demon when I hear our club & the media say that Melb have played in 6out of 9 years I say so what good to get their but look at why we couldnt go all the way and have we fixed that. The answer is no & that problem is MENTAL TOUGHNESS 04,05,06 prove that we should have finished top 4 but failed at the last hurdle. I think the culture of the club accepts these results and instead of making tough choices with the list or coaching staff they think a flag will come & unfortunately the list starts to age & injuries arrive but other clubs have raised the bar thus our current results.

Questions need to be asked of the new fitness guy who made players lose weight to make them faster? Has this made them weaker and maybey also causing so many injuries? If this is the case he should be hung! I thought the club was trying to make our players stronger & tougher which has been a clear weakness of ours! Hasnt this fitness guy had a high injury list at every other club he has trained?

Winning flags 2006,1994,1992 lost 1991&2005! Remember what Norm Smith said you play to play in GrandFinals & win Flags!

Its more their body language they just didnt show that they are [censored] off enough after lossing & sitting at 0-5.

What is our culture at our club? When we see our players joking around with the Swans players after the game. This is a team sitting at 0-5 and their season blown away, you would think that they would be that [censored] off and hurting that the last thing they would be doing is laughing with the opposition! What message does this send to the playing group and supporters that they accept lossing. Is this the culture of our club that when we loss they all laugh with the opposing team after they just flogged us? Were are the so called leaders on our list to take charge or is our coaching that poor that opposing teams can kick huge scores very quickly? Lets not forget what Brock Mclean said (21yr old) he noticed that a mental toughness issue within our club! We need to hear from Paul Gardner that a total review of the footy dept will take place and put everyone on notice not to hear that he would like to see Daniher as the next premiership coach of MFC. To say we have a list that can win a flag, cmon mate we are so far in terms of personell & even most importantly mental toughness & a culture that enables you to win a flag its not funny. Gardner is doing great things off the field but he now has to be ruthless along with the board to make tough calls on our list & coaching dept

All the MFC playing list and coaching staff need to watch the Crows Vs Swans game and see with 18 injuries they still won. They followed their game plan and did all the one percenters and played for each other.They applied pressure to the Swans, laid tackles. No skill required above just desire and playing accountable footy. Sure maybey our skill level mite not be enough to win all the time with our list of injuries however we would push every game to the wire and thats all the supporters want.

Mate get real to say that we are not real supporters is crap I for one have been a member since 1998 and I would say that most of the people posting on this site are memmbers too. What about you are you are member? As far as jumping on sack the coach bandwagon look at the facts a 10yr coach up & down seasons 99,01,03.In a position to finish top four 04,05,06 fadeouts in all three years. So called leaders in our list never stand up when needed but yet they continue to get more contracts and never get dropped(we all know who they are) As using injuries as an excuse look at who the Crows are missing but yet they beat the bulldogs at the MCG. Collingwood go to Perth without Buckley,Didak etc they push Westcoast all the way Stkilda continue to have injures but are winning Richmond a number of injuries but yet close to winning all 3 games. We have a mental toughness issue in this team and even Brock Mclean a 20yr came out and identified it as a weakness. Daniher has had 10yrs to fix this problem but it continues to raise its ugly head. If these players cant deliver get rid of them instead we see the same faces delivering the same results. Injuries aside we are not playing a brand of footy that will even come close to winning.

Gary Odonnell assistant to Mathews whilst they won 3 flags and played in 4 grand finals and now at Essendon. Mark Harvey assistant to Sheedy during 2000 Flag John Longmire assistant to Roos 1 flag & 2 Grand Finals All three above have been a part of winning culture and strong mental toughness as players and as assistants to teams that have shown the culture & leadership required to win flags

Mate have you seen the injury lists of the Crows, Saints,Magpies they still continue to win or at least put in a good effort eg Coll vs Eagles at Perth!. We just roll over

Agree this club has a poor history as soon as few of our top players are injured it all goes downhill. We simply dont have a strong leadership group that can take charge, we have the likes of Moloney who got injured busting his rear end to the point of coping a injury.We have a 20yr old Brock Mclean saying that we have a culture of Mental Weakness. The club has a group of so called leaders that are well paid but they continue to fail. Ask yourselfs what impact has White,Yze,Bruce,Travis, Green, on the games when we need our leaders to step up ZERO. Daniher great guy works very hard for the club in promoting it and had it hard in the early days due to no money and instablity at board level but just cant get this group of players to maintain their intensity thus the fadeouts in the last 3 yr seasos along with the up & down years. Daniher needed to make a call on some of the above players a couple of seasons ago to send a message but they continue to get more expensive contracts and the results dont improve. If we are 2-9 at the halfway mark Daniher should go and every player put on notice that the next 11 rounds their performance will be measured and recorded by the interim coach and from there the new coach will anylise their results and decide who will stay or be traded along with some contracts that may have to be reconstructed to reflect their performances.

I hope nothing more than the team to turn it around and play finals footy but just playing finals is not good enough! Both the players & coach need to be held accounatble and Danihers record of teams fading out and up & down seasons is poor. Daniher has had 10yrs and the lack of mental toughness continues to be present amongst the leadership group. We need changes to our list by putting up a few good names to trade.(collingwood traded Tarrant).A new coach to bring a different gameplan. He will have no relatonship with current list to be able to make some tough decisions. The alternative is to continue with the status quo and have players demand larger contracts and get the current results. Ask yourself how many of our leadership group(we know who they are) would get a game at Westcoast,Swans,Crows, even Brisbane??

I respect your passon for the club but I along with many other members are fed up in watching the crap style of football that gets played under Daniher for the last 10yrs.Our so called leaders go missing all the time when things get tough. Iam tired of the potential we show and dont deliver and always fail at the last hurdle!

Answer to all the final series failures and I have seen all of them 87,88,89,90,91,94,98,2000,2002,2004,2005,2006 MENTAL TOUGHNESS!! In 94 we had LYON, SWARCH,NEITCH,STYNES even JACKOVICH a great spine but we Lacked Mental tougness. Nothing has changed.

Extreme is to sit back and not make tough decisions and expect things to change.Remember whe Daniher said we have to be more RUTHLESS as club. I do agree with you that the claub is overpaying some players too much which is affecting whats left in the salary cap but Daniher should be accountable for allowing this to happen and not making the tough decisions.

We need a cleanout along with a new coach. We need fresh Ideas not the same old excuses that we have been hearing from Daniher for the last 10yrs. It is not acceptable that the team is having up & down seasons anymore. Our older players have been there for 6 seasons eg Bruce, Green,TJ,Robertson,Wheatly, Whelan, Yze, Ward etc and the club needs to ask which of these players can help us win a flag. Some tough decisions need to be made but we need a new coach who does not have a relationship with the playing group to make the tough decisions. Daniher should have gone at the end of 2003 because history will show that the mental toughness within his teams is a big weakness and nothing has changed in 10yrs. So times up hand the keys in and let someone else have a go!

Bottom line what Brock is saying that Melb has a history of metallyweakness amongst the players correct and this is a 21yo saying this. Daniher has been the coach for 10yrs and his lists have changed but yet the mental toughness issue continues to rise its ugly head. The team was in a position to finish top four three years in a row but they blew it. Daniher needs to be held accountable.How many more years & list of players should he be given to win a premiership. Daniher wll set a record of the longest person to coach without winning a flag. Remember him saying we have to be more ruthless as a club???

:angry: As my heading states enough is enough! I know its only round one but what I witnessed on Friday nite was the same manner that we have been lossing since Daniher arrived in 1998. The team leaders continue to go missing when it gets tough and their mental toughnes still remains an issue. We continue to hear the same old excuses from Daniher but yet nothing changes year in year out but yet our list of players has changed what is the problem? Is it the fact our current crop of so called leaders Yze, Green, Bruce, Robertson, Johnstone are not good leaders? Or maybey the fact that Daniher style or methods are just not working with these group of players anymore. Our skill level of players as demonstrated can be very good however I just dont think that daniher can get the boys up to play when it counts. We have a small window open to maybey win a premiership with these players and I along with many other members have had enough of seeing and hearing the same old excuses from Daniher. I really think its time for a change after 10 years with some fresh ideas and a new face for these players because it just seems that nothing changes year in year out. The last three years the players have blown finishing top four and the mental toughness cannot be fixed within the team and Daniher just cant seem to stop the slide.
