  1. I have long been a 'Frosty' supporter. Sure he doesn't kick too many goals a season, but he is basically the only one that leads up the ground. Without him, we would have far less entries into our forward 50.
  2. Personally it think it's great!!! Only a couple of minutes drive from my house
  3. Sure, soccer has taken off in Melbourne, but if the stadium were to be built by 2008, the hype of the world cup and victory would have settled down by then and soccer will be somewhat similar to a couple of years ago. IMO a 50k seat stadium is needed ATM, but not in 2008. The Government should build us the stadium anyway. Stuff the rest (aka Melbourne Victory)
  4. I've met Jeff White a few times. The first was a few years back at the airport when he was going to get his shinguard fitted/measured. He was checking in and running a bit late for his plane, but was more than happy to talk to me for around 5 minutes. Top bloke!!!
  5. Hopefully these "heaps" of sightings means our supporter base is getting bigger and bigger!!!
  6. Why don't we ask the Saint fans (or even Max Hudgeston) on Neita's ability to be a real threat. They should know it by now. But lets hope not, so Neita can kick a bag in round 1.
  7. Is that Chris Johnson in the middle of the boys running and clearly in focus, coz if it is he has put on a fair amount of muscle http://cache.gettyimages.com/xc/72913999.j...2D728DD7A776D5B
  8. I want to see CJ at HBF for the majority of our games, with Danny Hughes at HFF for the majority of our games. I liked the idea of Miller leading up the ground and Dunn filling Miller's position when Miller is up the ground, which was suggested here or on 'ology not too long ago. This should be done for all the pre-season games.
  9. As condemned has said above, Neitz's milestones were highlights Our first finals win in 4 years was a highlight, and our red hot run of 11 wins from 12 games was a great ride
  10. Let us not forget that at one stage we won 11 from 12 games, and it took sending us over to the other side of the country to finally lose a game. Did the Bulldogs have such a streak?........No We were red hot during those 12 games (having only gone down to the weagles by 20 something points) Our best in 06 was better than the Doggies best. But hey, let the bulldogs bask in their glory before the season has started, weren't Geelong declared as premiership favourites after the NAB cup (before the season got underway)
  11. A wonderful sentiment condemned, but if this did happen next year, i'm afraid that i would already be in tears and overrun with emotion, let alone the heart attack i would probably have when the siren goes.
  12. Don't forget the rumour that Daniel Wells wants to come to the club in the not too distant future
  13. If you look at the top 50 listed on demonland, it has Hayes going at pick 34. Sure, it was a very hard draft to pick, but there would have been reasons for him being tipped at going at 34, so we have got an absolute gem IMO
  14. Could he become the new Wizard? Good god i hope so!!!
  15. Sure it looks exciting and very good on paper, but that's all it is at the moment. Until they play to their potential consistantly and uncompromisingly, that's all that group will ever be - potentially good. I will celebrate and start salivating when i see our midfield become the dominant one of the AFL, ala the lions 01-04 and the weagles.
  16. Yep, saw him in today's HUN Jeez he is a very big boy!!!
  17. Given that towards the end of last year, Carroll played 3 great games and then was most-improved this year, for me the same has to be said about Bell. Last 3 games were a huge effort from him and i would not be surprised if he has similar success next year as to what Carroll had this year. Bell is the one to watch, but Sylvia surely has to show why we took him at pick #3 some time soon, he will also be in contention for most improved.
  18. Don't worry. With the pre-season is set to give (as he said after the loss to freo) it's going to be fitness! The guys who need to tone down will and all our players, particularly the young guys will all benefit big time! I predict that Brock will come out of it even more toned than what he already is and if Read is to stay, he'll go into the season with a 12 pack
  19. Great Thread! There comes a point in time when a team stops going for youth and says "yep this our window of oppurtunity" and stop recruiting youth and trade for more experienced players. Having said this, with the draft being as strong as it is this year, and given we may be going for Wells or Petrie or etc........ We should use our pick 12 to get a gun of a kid. I just reckon Aker will be too much of a cost to us. He will want around 450k a year, too much for his age. Plus why go for him when you could go for Wells?
  20. Johnstone - Trapper Biz - The General Nicho - Jack
  21. The reason other teams do it so easy is because our boys barely give a stuff about manning up or playing a decent zone. when we man up on the kick ins, we have more often than not forced a turnover or atleast stopped their easy access out of the backline. Too often this year Melbourne has conceded the first 2 kicks, we need to be given a lesson on how to play against the kick in. We are shocking at it
  22. Yze's was pretty good, ala sampi where he catapulted off the back, but Ottens has to win it. Look at his mark and he has the classic sit and he rides his opponent all the way down. Especially for a big man it is a fantastic mark. Would be nice if Yze did win it, but looking at it from a neutral point of view, Ottens' was better.
  23. I have to disagree with Schwarze being a disappointing player. Sure he had great potential then went down with 3 heart-wrenching knee injuries, but when he came back he put on a lot of weight and was the immovable object at CHF. Ox along with the Wiz were our game-breakers for a number of years. The electrifying season of '94 promised so much for seasons to come, but Schwarz was forced to take a different path and role in the team and became our power forward. No one has delivered what Schwartz did, Neita is the closest one and he is still a mile off. Schwarz was a champion and definately a hero at our club, and he furthered his status if not bettered it when he found his feet after the 3 knee reco's.
  24. it has been a rarity over the past few years where Neita has either taken the mark with one grab or taken a contested mark. He used to be much better at these 2 things. Maybe he isn't as confident anymore but something has changed in Neita's marking over the past few years. His ability hasn't deterred but something in relation to his marking has. He is no longer the guy you send the ball on top of the pack to because he can't take many contested marks anymore. His leading is so bad and his kicking/passing has got better i think. Although he is an AFL footballer and is meant to do it all the time, his pass to Green who dropped the simplest of marks was beautiful
