If we miss the final 8 next year then ...
Demon Disciple replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
Both the coach and the Pres should step down. However I seriously doubt we will miss the 8, so nothing to worry about. If we don’t win a final though, Goodwin must be held accountable. I’d also be looking at a change in on-field leadership. We have failed to finish top 4 the past 2 years, a serious underachievement given the quality of players we have at the moment (almost like how it would be a failure if Brisbane don’t win a flag with the players they have atm). -

Change coming to the Academy System
Demon Disciple replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Seriously there should be no academies. These clubs established themselves in areas where they knew Aussie Rules doesn’t have a stronghold. They knew this and went ahead with locating there anyway. Actions have consequences. Academies should be in place to help bring kids into AFL pathways that otherwise would not be available, not to specific clubs themselves. What do you think WA, SA, VIC and TAS do? For the betterment of the game, not the club. If they want them, they can trade for them. No more leg ups. Id even be willing to scrap the F/S rule to even it all out. There has to be an even playing field. -
Id also argue that Carlton are pretty strongly aligned with the Liberal Party.

Was a great game indeed. Jamie Bennell kicked the opening goal within 20 seconds and we were away ❤️ -

Hertz is the New Co-Principal Sponsor

If that’s the case, we will be funding 100% of our new training facility by tomorrow -
He’s a kid no more. Behold our very own unicorn

We (paid up members of Demonland) get the pride of knowing we are a very minute part of his world - but still a part. Unfortunately he gets to carry the burden that is the average Demonland hypochondriac. Good luck Koltyn

Indeed, it seems to be a poison chalice . Give ‘em hell Kolt .45

Has he won the Brownlow yet?

This is a fallacy that keeps getting trotted out by many supporters. We have not finished in the top 4 this year or last. 2021, 22, 23 = 1st, 5th & 6th respectively.

It’s a Knightmare move of old to just dismiss our draft haul. He must still be their draft ‘guru’, only from afar. And we must take their opinions as gospel, because when I think AFL footy I think ESPN 🤪

Hertz is the New Co-Principal Sponsor

Of course, the premiership guernsey has Jaguar on the back. -
Up on the Melbourne FC website that Jaguar are leaving as co-principal partner, with an announcement on our new co-principal sponsor coming soon. Anyone heard anything about who this may be?

Since Gibbo left, it’s a shambles.

So long as you better Twomey

The closer it gets, the more I’m wanting Sanders (Reid, McKercher, Watson and Duursma won’t be available).

Geelong would be doing cartwheels

No doubt @Ethan Tremblay will be dropping his much anticipated phantom draft in just under 12 hours 😆

I’m paraphrasing, but basically it was said that “some recruiters” feel he picks/chooses when he wants to apply himself and that his versatility is his weakness, as he has no real strengths in any one position (overhead marking, 1v1, kicking not real strengths), a Jack of all trades master of none type player.

I like the aggression and physicality of Tholstrup
-
A big part of me hopes he comes out next year and tears the comp to shreds, just to stick it up all his doubters and prove that recruiting really is an in exact science.

Unless he has one of the greatest pre-seasons of all-time, his body is not ready. He needs time, not to be fed to the wolves ala Jack Watts.
