TMAC was more than happy to let Naughton roam up the ground. It was fine by me, as the Dogs then had no quality tall to kick to down the line. TMAC got a fair few kicks down back, though disposal still leaves a bit to be desired (liked some of his slippery agile moves too 😁).

Agree. We were getting killed in clearances up until half time. Second half was a bit better, but I thought our back-line didn’t perform too bad with the speed and frequency which the ball came in (Naughton was at one stage killing his direct opponent in the second quarter, and I would’ve put Smith on him to keep up with him athletically). After Salem went off early it took a little time to re-adjust. The umps started the Dogs momentum towards the end of the first, but I thought we adjusted very well after a reset at 1/2 time.

Let’s see how Carlton go when they aren’t gifted 4 goals every week from the umpires.

Pretty much everything he did was smooth and clean. He reads the play so quickly and continually makes the right choice.

What about #13, or #6, or #10, or #31, or #50…………………..hmm we have got a few decent players going around atm. 🤩

Took us a while to sort out our backline after Salem went down, but we were settled by 1/2 time. Adjusted well in the 2nd half. Liked Smith’s game tonight (reckon he would’ve done well on Naughton). Herculean effort by Trac. To get us back in the game……put the team on his shoulders and just wouldn’t accept us losing. We may have another one in Bedford. Put a 10 year deal in front of Jacko. Max…….. stand and deliver. Bang, bang , bang , bang

Update on Salem?

Getting killed in the clearances. And with our under strength backline, it will prove costly if we do get on top in the middle.

No Lever, Hibbo, Rivers or Petty. 4 of our starting defensive 6 last year. Not good. Will be up to our midfield whether we win or lose this one.

Serious question, how much of the Blues score was a direct result from ‘questionable’ 50m penalties? If the AFL wants us to respect umpires more, this is not a good start for HQ.

This is just absolute cr@p. Umpires getting high on their own sense of worth. If players can’t do anything even remotely considered demonstrative, then umps shouldn’t be allowed to talk back to the players (needs to go both ways). AFL doing a stellar job of trying to get people to respect umpires, with this level of ‘officiating’ going on. Just wait until someone gets done for remonstrating with their teammate and the ump thinking it’s all directed him.

With all the talk about our boys feeling for the members back east missing out on the premiership party, I have no concerns that the boys won’t show up for the unfurling of the flag in round 1. We’ll be mentally switched on in 2 weeks time. Let the baggers get excited over a win in March.
