  2. Heartbreaking in a lot of ways but a sober reminder that there is more to life than playing football. Good Luck with your recovery Mitch, we'll miss you on the field but you will always be a part of the Melbourne Football Club.
  3. Riley was put on the LTI 5-6 weeks out from round one and has to stay on the list for a minimum on 8 weeks, not matches. According to Misson, he's likely to play the first round of VFL, which Round 3 of the AFL.
  4. A solemn tribute to Dean by Matt Burgan on the club website: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2014-03-11/tribute-to-dean-bailey
  5. R.I.P Dean Taken well before time. Condolences to his family and friends. He will not be forgotten.
  6. We have 8 MCG home games, you missed the Monday for QB.. From a commercial point of view it's not the best, but with the 2 NT home games and only 5 away games outside of Melbourne, there is some upside.
  7. Hope that net doesn't constrict too far or you'll be in a heap of trouble. I trust Jackson, Roos and Mahoney to find the right man for the job (What choice do we have?). The field of candidates does seem to be thinning though.
  8. I'm well aware he coached with Bailey. Just looking at his credentials, if we are casting our net wide for a successor, he should at least be considered.
  9. I'm not sure if his name has come up in this topic but what are the chances of landing Scott West? Announced yesterday he was leaving Werribee to look at an AFL gig. IMO he would have to be a strong candidate for a senior assistant role. He has coached his own team, with some success.
  10. Dr. Frankenstein would be perfect fit for the MFC. He is very experienced with bringing dead tissue back to life.
  11. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/melbourne/news/2013-08-13/clisby-to-challenge-at-tribunal Club claims accepting the charge gives Clisby a better chance of playing VFL Finals!?
  12. Fair call, but we didn't delist Bassett. He requested a trade home and we traded him for Matthew Collins and Brent Williams at the end on 1997.
  13. Here's the link: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2013-08-08/clark-placed-on-lti-magner-upgraded This is his chance to step up.
  14. Alistair Lynch missed an entire season with chronic fatigue syndrome only a year after signing a 10 year contract with the Bears. There are plenty of examples that can be quoted. The best thing the club can do right now is let MItch rehab for the rest of the year and get a full pre-season behind him.
  15. It's a part of who I am. I changed teams when I was 8 years old (From Collingwood, who most of extended my family follow) and have stuck to the red and blue since that day. I have become more passionate over time and have not ever thought of dropping them. Robbie stuck with them through thick and thin (Mostly thin), so will I.
  16. Correct: http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/alltime/leadinggk.html The season doesn't end for everyone on September 1. Back to the topic at hand, Hogan is a going to be a beauty/
  17. The game has changed, but there has been more than 1 100+ haul in that time. Lloyd in 2000-01, Gehrig on 2004. Plus Fevola got 99 in the same year Buddy kicked his ton.
  18. Here: http://www.afl.com.au/video/2013-06-30/postmatch-demons
  19. I'm no graphic designer, but I love this shot of Neita.
  20. I went and I stayed until the end. I felt every goal against us and cheered any player who put in the effort to spoil or scrag at the Dawks. And I will keep going until the end of the year no matter who the coach is. That is how I choose to support my club even after 7 1/2 years of utter dross. If anyone else chooses not to show up, that is their business. I am Melbourne, Red & Blue until the day I die.
  21. What is amazing watching it back was the players who kept us. With Farmer, Neita & Woey were being well beaten, It was the likes of Walsh, Collins, Leoncelli & rookies in Bruce & Green who kept us in touch at 3 quarter time.
  22. For anyone watching on TV today, Channel 7 are showing our 2000 Qualifying final against Carlton before todays game. It's a timely reminder that if you get the right mix of talent and grunt, you can turn it around quickly.
  23. 6 - N. Jones - He was in everything 5 - Evans - Never stopped trying, won the game when it was their to be won 4.- Byrnes 3 - Grimes 2 - Howe 1 - Gawn Honourable mentions to Garland (great in the last), Sylvia & Terlich
