  1. Nothing at all has changed. He had the kick-and-hope element to his game last year as well. I have no idea why nobody commented on it before.
  2. Teams weren't exactly queuing up to get him either. Apparently nobody inside Victoria wanted to go near him. Pick 16 was daylight robbery IMO.
  3. Moloney and Jones in their present "grab it kick it" model aren't suitable for any game plan. Both are good ball winners that need to work on their decisions with the ball, i.e. when to run and when to kick. Both of these blokes get it around the wrong way all too often. It's pretty easy to blame the game plan, but I think these two have work to do on their decision making. There's room for an in form McLean in any game plan. He's capable of playing in close, as well as running with it when needs be. I'm not sure what the difference between "building a team around players" and "rebuilding" is. You must have some knowledge of coaches semantics that I don't, because to me they mean exactly the same thing.
  4.   Yeah, a real class act. Talented but extremely lazy player plays well in first year at new club. Stop press! This has happened a million times before with players like him. Come back and ask me about Travis next year or the year after.
  5. No argument from me.
  6. Comic genius. No, really.
  7. Definitely agree with this. Robbo has two modes of operation: taken the mark or eating dirt, making him completely impotent in forward line pressure situations. So far this year it's been all the latter.
  8. That always happens when your team's playing like shite. I haven't worked out if it's related or if it's just perception, but the umpiring always seems rubbish when you're getting belted. Get used to it.
  9. That doesn't answer his question. Geelong and Collingwood are always allowed to play all their listed players. I believe they're exempt from the 12/10 rule.
  10. If I were Yze_Magic, right now I'd be posting a picture of a packet of Imodium for this guy's verbal diarrhoea.
  11. I really doubt that Robbie. I reckon the correlation between how many members sign up and what players are on the list is almost zip. I certainly don't know anyone who would base their decision of buying a membership (for any club) on the presense of one player. Certainly not 2,000+ worth. Getting people through the gates is another matter, but I highly doubt that would be in any way a contributing factor to us getting him anyway.
  12. Good point, I suppose our "culture" problems are all footy related. Nobody would ever question Cousins' ethics on the field and training track, which is probably where we need the most amount of guidance.
  13. I reckon it would be a waste of time and resources personally. I have absolute zero trust that this guy is clean.
  14. Does Rivers actually play as a loose man in defence? I was under the impression that most of the time he did actually have a man, but is such a good reader of the play that he is almost always able to "materialize" at the contest and be influential. It's hard to tell on TV though.
  15. Got off on appeal.
  16. I agree with that. He's got it all for a mid sized defender IMO. Big engine for running off, can be very dangerous going forward, but also very strong one-on-one. It plays to every one of his strengths.
  17. Perhaps he could be the next player to bring people through the gates on his own.
  18. I had forgotten just how good this guy is. I'm a believer again. Welcome back Jared. There were some rusty moments though. The dropped mark on the wing was a little bit embarressing.
  19. Graz, you must've missed the memo that said this thread was for mindless hysteria only when discussing the Buckley omission. Good post. Agree 100%.
  20. Grimes is on the LTI.
  21. Barry, has Spencer been playing in the twos? Haven't heard or read anything at all about him. Presumably he, Zomer, McNamara and Cheney have all been in the twos.
  22. Interesting article by Jace Bode: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/News/NewsArt...px?newsId=57291
  23. And you have the audacity to tell me to stick to the topic at hand. Btw I can only assume you missed the line that followed the one you quoted.
  24. Speaking of getting your knickers in a knot over something pathetic. You were being deliberately facetious. If you don't want to catch a fish, don't cast a line... You'd only need to glance over at my profile and look at my location to know how hard it would be for me to watch Sandy games. You've been around these parts forever, even longer than I have, so let's not play silly buggers. (I considered saying "let's not play dumb", but that might be a little personal for you). I do not, have not and will never base my opinion on players on Sandy reports. Absolutely serious. He can see how a good midfield move the ball from their backline to the forward by sitting in the stands. I can see that from my TV screen. Players at this level spend hours analysing, watching and learning outside match conditions. I don't think the AFL field should be where they learn their trade, especially not key defenders. It should be where they apply and consolidate them. Until then, let them practice against lower grade opponents in the VFL.
  25. I thought that was Phil Read :D
