  1. I'm completely confused. Where does the article say Maric is not allowed to play his natural game (or whatever)? All it says was that he did not kick the goals he would have liked to, read: his kicking on the day sucked and he should have done better.
  2. You really should be careful about what you say. You never know when it might come back to bite you.
  3. I've got no space for him in my side for either now or in the future. He is yesterday's news. It's a pity really, and a bit sad. He was a very good player at his peak. I wouldn't object to a send-off game later in the year though.
  4. I think the 'interesting' selections with regards to the leadership group makes sense given the demographic of the vote. There were 11 new players on the list, that's 25% of the list. Who would be the first players you'd really notice coming in to a club as a young bloke? The extremely charismatic ones. Robbo and Yze. The new blokes would not have had time to see what kind of leadership players like Green exhibit, especially without having played a game with them. I believe that if we hadn't turned over so many players, the leadership group would've been different. I'd love it if we could see who voted for who this year and next. I'd be having a look at who the 11 new kids voted for and how their votes changed between years. Jones will be at the ripe old age of 21 for next season. Too young for a player who is apparently not a natural leader.
  5. Disappointing and frustrating. I'm sick of our blokes getting rubbed out for silly brain fades, especially the senior players. It's all well and good to whinge about preferential treatment to some clubs by the AFL. The simple answer is stop doing things they might be able to rub you out for.
  6. heh!! I love it how you in one line you imply his comment had no basis, then make a comment with no basis yourself. Good stuff.
  7. Indeed Jarka. Still, I reckon the quote attributed to Y_M is absolutely right. In hindsight the Dogs win was far more costly than the tank-off we were never going to lose.
  8. If they weren't going to play him then they would not bother promoting him as it costs them more money. It would be plain dumb to promote him then leave him at Sandy. Why bother? Promotion off the rookie list = senior selection. If it's confirmed that he has been promoted off the rookie list (not sure it is), then he will line up against Brisbane.
  9. Unfortunately I'm not kidding, and I don't disagree with anything you have said there, but to appoint him as captain would be hypocritical to say the least, not to mention being a kick in the guts to the rest of the players and the leadership group who have routinely done the right thing. Beyond that, what's the point of disciplining someone if you're not going to stick to it.
  10. I'd give it to McLean if he weren't such a bonehead. In preference order of the current leadership group Bruce Miller (yes I have changed my mind since last week) McDonald I'd spew if it were Robbo, and it definitely won't be Yze.
  11. At the ripe old age of 26? I'd take Brown for Pick #1 in a heartbeat.
  12. Me too. People only ever seem to post them once though. Funny that.
  13. I love reminding my Richmond supporting brother about that! Best part about it is that Richmond had two bites at Franklin and still missed, taking Deledio (admittedly he was always going to go #1) and Tambling instead. Great stuff.
  14. Generally I think exclusive forwardline roles should be left for those who are either genuine KPP players, or whose engines are too small to play regular midfield roles. Green is an asset in the middle when his form is good. I think if he was stuffed in the FP with only infrequent runs through the middle it would be a waste of a fit and capable midfielder, which in my opinion is much more important than a secondary forward.
  15. I reckon he'd go missing if he was left to rot in the forward pocket all year long. He's a very dangerous secondary forward, but I think he would be wasted playing there all match. Leave him in the midfield rotation, but instead of rotating him off like the rest of them, rotate him forward. If he's not fresh enough, rotate him off every second rotation, so you get a rotation that goes like midfield-forward-midfield-bench-midfield-forward.
  16. Judd having a good game and his opponent having a good game are not mutually exclusive. McLean went head to head with Judd, and came out second best (because Judd is a better player), but that doesn't mean his game was bad. His role was more than just "stop Judd" and I think he did a damn good job. If the role was just "stop Judd" it would have been Bartram or McDonald playing on him, not our best ball winner.
  17. Considering McLean was playing as an offensive opponent to Judd (i.e. going head to head as opposed to tagging) I thought he was pretty good. He was easily our best player in the middle, and at least made Judd work for a lot of his possessions, particularly in traffic where Judd excels. Offensively he was not as good as Judd, but that's because he isn't as good a player as Judd. Saying he "destroyed" Judd is absolute rubbish, but so too are the claims that he had a poor game just because Judd had a good one.
  18. You're arguing in Jaded's favour there, not against her. Judd and Stevens are their #1 and #2. The likes of Gibbs, Murphy et al get the luxury of playing "secondary" roles. It allows them to learn their craft and play good footy (very good in the case of Murphy, the guy is an absolute gun) without being 100% in the cauldron. McLean and Jones are our #1 and #2. If they have poor games, then we lose in the midfield. It's a lot of pressure on two young blokes and IMO they do a good job under the circumstances.
  19. 6 Green 5 McLean 4 Bruce 3 Rivers 2 McDonald 1 Whelan Thought Frawley showed some very promising signs also.
  20. Yeah I agree occo. CAC was a real idiot for not drafting Franklin. We'll ignore the minor detail that he was gone before we even had our first pick. But gee what an idiot!
  21. Disappointing, but hardly surprising given his current role.
  22. That's not at all what Rhino was getting at.
  23. Funny prank I think, I had a laugh as soon as I caught on. Stupid in the sense that Chris Connolly has now had to waste time quashing the claims though.
  24. I agree with all of that. I'd probably have McLean as my second choice for #2 with Bruce third.
