  1. What's patronising is making grand statements about sackings and takeovers and revolutions without any positive substance of what you'd do next, other than call in the AFL, who half got us into this mess with the Inquisition. I agree with GoodVibes. Sacking Daniher and Bailety achieved nothing. Sacking Neeld, McLardy and Schwab now will do the same. Time the players just stood up on the field and played like AFL footballers.
  2. Craig Cameron and Barry Prendergast.
  3. I thought for a first-gamer the other Jones put in.
  4. Who are the debutantes apart from Toumpas, Viney and Jones? All the others have played AFL games before.
  5. I'd still have Rivers.
  6. Was there ever a computer called the Banana? I know there was a Peach.
  7. No free kicks for the whole game. Those were the days.
  8. If the AFL wants to narrow the gap between rich and poor clubs, I just don't see them giving a rich club more games at the MCG while a poorer team is given more games at Etihad, where the stadium deal is far worse for lowly-attended games. It just runs totally counter to their objective. I think everyone is off the mark in that regard. It's a typical display of MFCSS.
  9. I don't give a fig what Cale Morton does at West Coast. I only care what he did at Melbourne, and might have continued doing, which was not much.
  10. I think we've got other players to show some concern about before we start hitting on Grimes.
  11. I think they just came from Platform 9¾. And if I'm not mistaken, they're arranged perfectly in draft pick order from left to right.
  12. It's interesting in this photo that every Melbourne player is behind their Saints' opponent.
  13. Accpording to the 2011 census there were 331 people in Clackline. I guess there's 330 now that Dean's left. Looks a player to me. Might be one of those really good later picks.
  14. No wonder he didn't play that well.
  15. Andrew Walker's mark last night should have been penalised for the two hands planted firmly in his opponent's back.
  16. Toby Greene should be asking for a million bucks a year.
  17. Not much point in comparing membership now with final membership from last year. It's only March, I think we've got until June. Heaps of people join up late.
  18. It would if it were true, but it's not. CEOs since 1987: 1987-1992 Tony King 1992-1997 Hassa Mann (that's two in those 10 years) 1997-1999 Cameron Schwab 1999-2002 John Anderson 2003 Ray Ellis 2004-2007 Steve Harris 2008 Paul McNamee (briefly) 2009-present Cameron Schwab That's 8 in 16 years. We've had one for the past 4 years, and there's still a lot of people who want to change again.
  19. How about the bottom 10 teams just get ranked on how long it is since they won a premiership? Longest gets Pick 1. Then they can play how they like.
  20. Should be a good comedy duo.
  21. Maybe Liam would have suffered the same fate at any club, given the difference in culture between a Melbourne-based football club and Yuendemu. Maybe he would have had great problems if he'd just stayed in Yuendemu and never seen the light of day in the AFL. Maybe Liam would have ended up having drinking problems no matter where he found himself or what happened to him. Maybe someone's keeping a vendetta going against the club and are just promoting division. But maybe, just maybe, the trip to China was boozily excessive and a very poor advertisement and occasion for the club. Maybe it's a cultural abherration we've hopefully left behind. Maybe it's a symbol of the poor pre-Neeld, unprofessional culture. We should be careful not to just jump on the messenger, or Liam, in our desire to protect the club, and at least consider what role, however large or small, we had in the outcome, despite all the good things we did.
  22. Interesting article on the AFL website suggesting that his time at Melbourne was the start of his drinking. Mentions the 'boozy culture' on the trip to China, linking the same trip to the leaving of Tom Scully.
  23. She was back, and no discussion whatsoever of tanking. In the discussion about Essendon, she was again after heads, particularly Thompson's. However, I noticed that there was lots of qualifications like "if guilty" or "if he did it" ... a luxury she didn't give much to anyone at Melbourne in her tanking diatribes.
