NON-MFC: Round 2, 2022
21.14 in the GF wasn't good enough for you? đ¤

NON-MFC: Round 2, 2022
I wouldn't trust Aaron Naughton to win a match after the siren with any shot from close to 50.

Can't believe anyone pays anything for that rubbish. âšī¸

2022 Match Review Panel
Another example of the AFL wanting to limit head knocks and future concussion liability, and the tribunal in diametric opposition.

Schadenfreude: What do you say to your non-Demon friends?
I just ask a couple of my Bulldog supporting friends "are you sick of Petracca yet?" đ

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
Maybe the fact is that in order to win a premiership, you need both stars and a system. I wonder why we won one? đ

10 Years Since Jimmy Stynes Passed
He would have loved to have been here in 2021.

Out and Proud
The adjectival tag "long-suffering" has also been removed from the front of "Melbourne supporter", and I'm very happy with that! That tag now belongs to others.

2022 Free Kick Differential
I don't know that the Bulldogs get much advantage from their free kicks anyway, or from playing for them. While you get a metreage advantage, a free kick generally holds up the play for a short time, which helps the opposition get in position to defend. Especially when a team has a strong defensive focus like Melbourne. Did we lose? đ

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
One of the worst decisions I've seen. For all the pre-season talk though about cracking down on the time holding the ball, I didn't feel there was much difference from last year. Players had plenty of time for disposal without calling HTB. Players have also learnt to shut their mouths it seems, or the umpires have relaxed a little from the horror show that was the Melbourne-Carlton community series match.

AFL Experts Predictions for the 2022 Season
Barrett picks a Brisbane-Geelong Grand Final. Melbourne to finish 3rd. Then he picks GWS as "set to fall". Surely if he's not picking Melbourne for the Grand Final, then we are "set to fall". Isn't 1st to 3rd a "fall"?

David Kingâs Predicted 2022 AA Team
It's his opinion. I don't know why people get so worked up over it. It's also click bait. King's opinion on Gawn will be found to be either right or wrong. Along with the Champion Data rankings, there's a bit of a surprising tendency to still under-rate Max as a ruck. Beats me why.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
Does anyone know about seating on Level 1? Is it available for general admission? If not, can you then get, or purchase, a reserve seat? I sat on the phone this morning for 50 minutes with an "extremely high number of calls" message and finally got cut off with the message "there are no operators available". Would like to reserve seats for 5 x GA members on Level 1 just for Wednesday, but it's not critical.

Premiership DVD and victory pack
I've got the BluRay version and it is HD. My $99 Panasonic BluRay player handles it well. The good thing about the GF is there are three other commentary choices to Brian Taylor. đ

MOMENTUM: A 2021 Grand Final Story
I think there was a certain degree of over-celebration in Bontempelli's last goal.
-
NON-MFC: Community Series
Gold Coast have got the goalkicking yips. They should be six goals in front. Don't see much evidence of a change in Geelong's game plan. They still chip it around and allow the opposition to flood their half of the ground.

Oliver on Petracca
I actually think his kicking could still do with some improvement.

POSTGAME: Community Series vs Carlton
I think he expects to have 15 Gawns and 15 Petraccas, and a few Olivers thrown in.

Are we capitalising on our on-field successes?
Jeez, a bit early for all this discussion. We can't tell whether we've capitalised on our flag for another 3-5 years.

I'd also be looking at what life after football could bring. Earning less money in your football career but being a multiple premiership player at one club, maybe with a coaching career, might be more lucrative over your lifetime than earning more immediate money but with a lesser achievement. Of course, not all think longer term of life beyond football.
