I always turn to the Australian Government Style Manual for clarification on matters of writing. In regard to numerals it just says "there can be no absolute rules to cover every possible contingency. In the absence of specific instructions, the decision whether to use figures or words in particular instances must be made by the editor ...". So nothing is "right" or "wrong". It does recommend words for numbers less than 10. Generally numerals are used in scientific, technical or mathematical work, and words are used in prose, descriptive or narrative work. But this isn't exclusive (see editor's choice above). I agree that numerals should never be used to start a sentence. Also, on a totally separate issue, the correct written term is per cent, not percent.

You probably couldn't play an AFL match on such a ground, but I was simply replying to the proposition that GMHBA "doesn't conform to AFL standards". It does.

So it's now marginally wider than GMHBA. We should be able to train to win there then. 😄

The AFL rules only say that a ground must be at least 135m long and 110m wide. GMHBA is 171m x 115m.

I am hearing many people saying "bought" when they mean "brought". For example: "what has he bought to the team"? I've often heard commentators use it. "Bought" is the past tense and past participle of the verb to buy. "Brought" is the past tense and past participle of the verb to bring.

So far in this thread it's been suggested that just about every player should "go back to Casey" for a spell to get better, "improve their craft", or recover ... even Max. Yeah, that would work.

The story on the MFC website says rookie list for 2023, then upgrade to the main list in 2024.
