  1. I wouldn't be surprised if the Melbourne Football Club offered him a 5 year contract. Simon Goodwin played a pivotal role in breaking our 57 year drought. We cannot forget this! Especially, when many of us have suffered through many many years of heartache and disappointment. It is time to cash in with sustained success a fresh batch of Premiership Cups to go into the cabinet at the Melbourne Football Club. The world is Simon Goodwin's oyster now. Many of us, if we were allowed to do so, would want to give Simon a massive hug and say thank you for what he has done to bring joy to our lives as Demons supporters. We also need to be mindful that if we don't lock in Simon with a long term contract that the Crows or even Port Power might come sniffing around wanting to snatch him away to help their own teams in South Australia. Let's give Simon as Demons coach the best opportunity to bring about a new Demons Dynasty that will rival the one we had in the 1950s and early 1960s.
  2. Some further good news! Simon Goodwin to be offered a new contract extension to continue as coach of the Melbourne Football Club. As a Premiership coach Simon now holds the upper hand in any contract negotiations. I suspect he will be offered either a 3 to 5 year contract extension by the Melbourne Football Club. Fingers crossed we get a few more Premierships at the Demons while he is coach! Here is the article about it: https://www.theaustralian.com.au/sport/afl/afl-fixture-2022-melbourne-primed-for-marquee-time-slots/news-story/3b110fb7514add22a86b6b7d4a79d033
  3. I don't mind the Demons players training while on holidays. They are athletes and professional AFL players that get paid alot more than the average person on the street. Plus routine is definitely important to maintain. All, I ask is that they have a bit of extra time off during the Christmas break to mentally recharge and not think about football for a while. Then come back happy and hungrier than ever to win more Premierships! It's time for a new Demons Dynasty!
  4. Angus Brayshaw is a "heart and soul" type player for the Melbourne Football Club. You cannot put a price on that type of player. His diving mark and goal in the 3rd quarter of the 2021 AFL Grand Final was a huge moment. Even Brisbane Lions legend and triple Premiership player Jonathan Brown applauded Angus' courage with that diving mark. It epitomised the desperation Angus had to do anything to win for the team and how selfless he has become as a player for the Demons. Angus also totally buys into the new "winning culture" of the Melbourne Football Club. Something that took many years to develop and it will now hopefully be entrenched with this crop of Melbourne players who have just won a Premiership and are super hungry for more sustained success. What I loved the most was the post Grand Final interview with Demons great Garry Lyon in the change rooms where he said "our club". That was brilliant. It brought a massive smile to my face when he said that! Angus is Melbourne through and through!
  5. Had an incredible year did big Maxy Gawn. He has to go down as one of the greatest Demons of all time to be a 5 time All Australian. Not only that but also one of the game's greatest Ruckmen. His Preliminary Final match against Geelong with 5 goals (kicking them from everywhere!) was one of the most dominant performances I had ever seen by a Demons player. He was a freak of nature in some of things he was doing! Now he is a Premiership Captain for the Melbourne Football Club. Hope he continues to have an amazing career with many more Premierships for the Demons and ends up playing 250+ games for the Melbourne Football Club.
  6. I am pretty confident that the Demons will take Taj Woewodin as a Father-Son selection in the 2021 AFL National Draft. It is certainly uncanny how much he looks like his Father Shane. From the WA Draft Combine it looks like Taj has a bit of toe on him and is definitely faster than his old man.
  7. Eddie McGuire is definitely a crafty one. They don't call him Eddie "Everywhere" for nothing. I recall we had the opportunity to move to the Olympic Park precinct before even Collingwood wormed their way in there. I think it was when Joseph Gutnick was still Melbourne Football Club President in the early 2000s? We certainly stuffed it up back then. Anyway, that's in the past now. Let's hope Kate Roffey is on the ball and gets this training base for the Demons sorted out and we have some further good news about all of this at the next Melbourne Football Club AGM whenever that will be?
  8. Charlie Spargo had a great season. His footy IQ with ball in hand is brilliant. Always seems to make the right option. The best thing about him is that he plays his role so well in the forward line. Constantly pressuring and helping his team mates. I can see him eventually playing in the midfield if he builds up his engine enough. The only flaw is that you wouldn't want him kicking for goal from over 40 metres away. But as long as he plays to his limitations then he will continue have a long career at the Melbourne Football Club. On ya Charlie! Congratulations on a brilliant 2021 season!
  9. I have no idea why he is called Rick? Something to do with the moustache perhaps? Anyway, I think Jake Lever has been a revelation for us in defence. If it wasn't for Lever and May we would not be a Premiership side. Lever oozes leadership too. I think he could be a future Captain of the Melbourne Football Club.
  10. Not sure if he slips down to pick number #17 in the 2021 AFL National Draft but I am definitely keen on the Demons grabbing Josh Sinn from the Sandringham Dragons. Here is a news story about him: https://www.afl.com.au/news/574499/no1-draft-pick-contender-josh-sinn-piles-on-13kg-in-six-months
  11. Great stuff! I love these little interviews. Very pleasing to hear that James Jordon is hungry for more success and looking forward to getting back to Pre-Season training for Season 2022!
  12. I think it's best to be humble. We have had many drafting mistakes ourselves in the past. Being able to develop players is crucial too. Jack Watts' development was definitely handled poorly at the time. All I can say is that we are incredibly lucky to have Jason Taylor and I hope we can continue to have him as our National Recruiting Manager at the Melbourne Demons for many years to come.
  13. Jack Viney is as tough as nails. He was made to play finals football. Glad he was able to improve his kicking throughout the season too. He definitely made his old man, former Demons great, Todd Viney proud! I am certain Jack will definitely be hungry for more Premiership success. I cannot imagine Jack being satisfied with just one Premiership. Plus I am sure Jack and the rest of the team want to win at least one more Premiership, but this time at the MCG!
  14. Did Bruce say that the Demons were ssssspeeecial? 😁 Would of loved him to have commentated the 2021 AFL Grand Final, but oh well!
  15. This is the final missing piece of Clayton Oliver's game that he needs to focus on more. Kicking goals regularly. We all know how much of a fantastic midfielder he is with his hand balling. Furthermore, Clayton's kicking around the ground has improved significantly. In fact, his whole finals series was magnificent. The final hurdle for him is to become a regular goal kicking midfielder. If Clayton can start kicking 2, 3 or 4 goals a game on a regular basis then he will probably become as good as, if not a better player, than Dustin Martin. Therefore, making him not just a star but a superstar of the AFL. Let's hope besides continuing to get fitter and stronger and improving his kicking that Clayton also looks to doing more work on kicking goals on a consistent basis. It will be a very close Best & Fairest count for the Melbourne Football Club this 2021 season with so many standout performances. However, I still think that Clayton Oliver should win another Demons Best & Fairest over Christian Petracca, but only just! In the end it is all about winning Premierships and I feel that Clayton is definitely hungry to win more Premierships for the Demons! On ya Clarrie! Time to create a Demons Dynasty!
  16. 19 actually! His Birthday is the 29th of September 2001. He is now only 20 years old and has played only 30 games! We are talking about a Premiership player and a Rising Star Award winner! The upside is incredible! Dogga is an absolute freak. He has only just started his career! The exhilarating potential for Luke Jackson to become a star of the competition is massive! We could be talking about a Demons player in the same league as the Kangaroos' Wayne Carey, but with more Premierships in 10 years time. That's how much talent this young fella has. Imagine when he starts building more strength into his body and he is taking those huge contested marks he does in the forward line rather than on the wing?! Opposition sides will be terrified as to how they will combat his dominance! My only lingering concern is that fact that Dogga is originally from WA and there will always be the temptation for him to go home to where family is. Hopefully, we can at least win a few more Premierships if that does ever happen. However, he seems very happy, having just won a Premiership, and having one of his best mates in Trent Rivers at the Melbourne Football Club also works in our favour.
  17. Brayden Sier from Collingwood might be a possible option. However, even his highlights package is pretty mundane to be brutally honest. I am still keen on Patrick Naish from Richmond as an option on the wing though.
  18. Now that we have won the 2021 AFL Premiership (and hopefully win more!), I believe that this needs to be the next primary focus for the Melbourne Football Club. Time to get this Home Base built at car park F and not the ridiculously stupid idea of car park E! I would also like to see a statue of David Neitz and/or Nathan Jones placed at the Home Base. I think it would be quite fitting. Especially as Collingwood have a statue of Lou Richards at the Holden Centre. Hopefully, this very important matter of the Home Base being built at car park F will be raised at the next Melbourne Football Club AGM, when ever that will be?
  19. Absolutely no sympathy for Hawthorn whatsoever. They have taken sheer delight in our misery over the last 57 years. We all know the many games, incidents and events that have stuck in our minds. Whether it be the 1987 Preliminary Final with Gary Buckenara kicking that goal after the siren when Jimmy Stynes accidentally ran through the mark to give away a 15 metre penalty at Waverley Park, the humiliation of losing by 96 points in the 1988 VFL Grand Final our first Grand Final appearance since 1964. The failed Merger attempt in 1996 where Hawthorn supporters say that we "voted" for the Merger and they didn't. Even though it was later clarified that there were dodgey proxy votes allowed during the Merger elections and other issues that we won't go into as it will open up a can of worms. 🤐 However, the facts state this, since 1964, Hawthorn has "won" only 1 Wooden Spoon in 1965. Contrast that with Melbourne who have "won" 7 Wooden Spoons in years 1969, 1974, 1978, 1981, 1997, 2008 and 2009. Not to mention all the times we missed out on finals and finished in the bottom half of the ladder. In contrast, during that time Hawthorn has won 12 Premierships in 1971, 1976, 1978, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 2008, 2013, 2014 and 2015. We at the Melbourne Demons have now won 1 Premiership in 2021 after an extremely long drought of 57 years. I think we can all confidently say that it is time for us to have some sustained success and we should not give a rat's toss-bag about Hawthorn.
  20. Another cheeky suggestion would be to retire the number #2 jumper until we can get Tim Taranto from the Giants to come across to the Demons once his contract finishes at the end of 2022. Apparently he was a massive Melbourne Demons supporter growing up and had to be talked out of getting a Melbourne Demons tattoo before he got drafted. I don't know if that story is true or not though!
  21. Christian Petracca has become a star of the competition. He definitely had a fantastic season in the AFL. Winning a Norm Smith medal and a Premiership has put him up there with the greats of the Melbourne Football Club. Many years ago he said he wanted to be a "hall of fame" player. He could become that...but he needs to keep winning Premierships and Norm Smiths with the Demons. Here's hoping he continues to get better as a player and ends up playing over 300 games for the Melbourne Football Club. Time to create a new Demons Dynasty Christian! Destiny is in your hands!
  22. I have 3 possible options for the great #2 jumper number at the Melbourne Football Club. Worn with such distinction by Robbie Flower, Stephen Tingay and Nathan Jones. Option 1 - Give it to Bailey Laurie who used to wear number 2 at the Oakleigh Charges and hasn't seemed to have much luck with a few injuries in his first year in the number 16 jumper. Option 2 - Give it to whomever we pick up with our first round draft pick at around number #17 in the 2021 AFL National Draft. Option 3 - Just rest it for one season as a sign of respect to Nathan Jones and then look to give it to a deserving player in season 2023.
  23. James Harmes is a ripper! A Demons supporter playing for the Demons and winning a Premiership for the Demons! Gotta love it! He has fancy footwork both on and off the field too! Here is James Harmes celebrating the 2021 AFL Premiership doing the Melbourne shuffle with team mates. This video brought a massive smile to my face! On ya Harmesy! 😁
  24. Still makes me sad that Robbie Flower wasn't alive to see the Demons break their 57 year Premiership drought. He would of been overjoyed with happiness! Let's hope the 2021 AFL Premiership cup pays a special visit to the Flower family over the next few weeks. I think it would be very significant for the Melbourne Football Club to do this. Lastly, I still hope that the MCC considers putting up a statue of Robbie Flower at the MCG. I think it would be very important for this to happen.
  25. I thought it was really wonderful how the Melbourne Demons President Kate Roffey took the new 2021 AFL Premiership cup that the men had won down to AFLW Pre-Season training and let the women hold onto the cup. I thought that was a fantastic initiative and I hope it inspires the AFLW team to want to win a Premiership too!
