  1. I guess it will be more like pick 70. Most other clubs will be passing by then. I suspect it will be a Dunkley or Lockhart upgrade to close out our deal. We can then take DFA’s (Bennell, Buzza?) and Rookies as we move forward.
  2. I gave us an A our core deficits were addressed. If we are healthy, or nearly healthy, we have most other needs covered. losing Frost is no biggie. Shame we didn’t land Elliott, but that was a long shot. moving to first round (top 10) x2 in this year’s draft instead of having a lower, compromised pick next year is a massive plus. holding 97 allows one rookie upgrade, probably Dunkley. A+ would have been if we pulled off a heist, and snuck a treasure. We ended up better than we were, and in a great position for the draft. Mahoney also best communicator, and we got stuff done with no fuss, and without being arschlochs in the process. That has to be an ‘A’ rating.
  3. No enough. 3 for 6, 36ish and about 25 ( after academy picks) next year? Nope
  4. I suppose it depends who they want and if they think they will be there. I agree that 3 and 8 will be juicy, and I would be very happy with that. I think that there will be more of a mad dash at the end, and we could improve even further.
  5. More to go yet. We can still trade 3 out for 2 top 15 picks plus something next year.

we need to stay away for King. The overblown price and expectations would make this very unattractive. St Kilda may want to do it for the ‘romance’ of it, and The Bombers need a forward tall. We have seen Weid’s path - it takes big guys a while to develop to top level. Would think the money is better spent elsewhere.
  7. Potentially compromised draft.... Each club gets their pick in order (with GCS getting extra). I can see clubs wanting to get early picks, and then points in later picks that they can use. It would be great if the top 1-5 are all selected, all hell will break loose. It will be interesting if they will select the ‘best available, or their academy picks. I suppose clubs will have to make some tough decisions, and you may see players nominated and bids not matched. Might actually make the whole thing more interesting!
  8. 4 places in the second round? On the success rate of second round picks, our chances of landing a good player dropped from about 40% to about...40%. Draft picks are a mugs currency

Very insightful analysis, and some early calls on the list that have played out. Worth a listen.

Are the Pies looking to get a late pick by not delisting? Seems if we wanted him, we could grab him in the rookie draft if no other suitors. We have pick 2.
  11. This seems like ‘there is nothing happening, so what can we talk about’ media BS. On the 1000:1 chance he went, would want at least a top 10 pick coming back. 3rd in the BnF in a preliminary final year. If Kelly is worth 2, Angus is at least 1 and steak knives

Nope. Papley + later first rounder for 3. If Kelly is worth 2 top 10’s Langdon is worth about 22 Papley is closer to Langdon than Kelly
  13. Think on it this way. Would you trade Frost for Langdon? That (and moving about 9 places in the 2nd round) is what we are doing.

Seen touring Brisvagas facilities. Certainly investigating his options...

Crazy talk, indeed. Would happen if they really wanted someone and didnt think their pick (which will probably slide at least one place) would get them. Who knows? No one else appears to have enough value to split the pick, these guys might just, and Dodoro is not known for rationality...
  16. Maybe it was a case of too many cooks? Rawlings is definitely a loss. Richo replaces Macca, Jennings - looked like that was not the best fit with Goody from some of the box footage during the year. So maybe tightening all this up will give us better *connection*???
  17. It is hard to know about this stuff. We have been into Langdon and Elliott all year, but who knew? You only hear the ones that get leaked, or are in the mix. Who said we didnt approach Lynch? Moore? Allir ALLir etc? We could be into 100 players. We also have to look from a position that if we had most of the players on the park this year, and somewhere near their best, then the list analysis would be different. We came 17th. Yep, 17th. We got the 17th best list in 2019.

Got a head like a smashed bag of twisties.

I’m surprised that something that smells so much like A rs e hole (and starts with ‘D’) got through the filters here...but I know what you mean! He certainly has an overblown sense of worth....

Essendon could end up with 5 and 9, for Daniher (9 in from Papley to Carlton). That would be the perfect pair to split the pick on.
  21. All the commentators seem to forget that our best young player is PETTY, and it is him that is perfectly placed to be the tall defender that will (easily) replace frosted nuts.
  22. Serous question: if frosty balls was on someone else’s list, would you want us to pay ‘overs’ to get him to the club? Does he improve the list compared to not having him (and having someone else like petty step up into that role)?
  23. Yep. Invite him to train with the rookie list or supplemental addition list as a carrot. If he shows enough - better than others we could get - then sign him up!
  24. Neither is a pick 3 candidate. It would need to be player plus their first rounder plus steak knives to even get close. Hopefully we are seeing teams that are desperate for currency, and we can leverage that to our advantage. An old bidding war for pick 3...

This has all gone quiet, hasn’t it? The Suns have got one zillion new picks, and there is a queue of players linked to going there. Think Stretch would be a low priority for them. Will be interesting to see what happens over the off season - maybe do a Jetta, get rookied, work his backside off and become a valuable player.
