  1. I forgot about that rule change. The deeper picks (after about 40) almost have no consequential value. For the Dogs, getting 3000 points is going to be a challenge and will take their mid first round and second round, and maybe change. With that rule change, i guess they will have maybe one opportunity to pick split.
  2. So if all are taken up to say pick 23, that is pick 30 at best (maybe 33 or so). As the OP suggests, it then winds the other way as all of the points used soak up picks. Anything outside the top round in most drafts is a lottery, anyway. Would suspect this means teams will take their priority option, give up the points, then use later selections to upgrade rookies to get their 3. GC are set for a feast. Can see a lot of first round picks being traded out for later points or future picks as well. Not sure this was the intention when all of this began - but that is what you get from the AFL.
  3. Looks like 4 in the top 25, and a GC direct draftee. So our pick 23 pushed back 4 places by NGA’s, and probably several compo picks. So pick 23 more like 30.
  4. Does anyone have a list of expected compromised picks in the first 30? U-H at #1 for example. Anyone know the obvious candidates?
  5. Gee I loathe Richmond. All the sooking and free kicks and the dirty play. I guess they have earned the right to be smug, but they are a detestable bunch.
  6. We’ll take their first rounder....
  7. Pick 9 - About 1400 points Pick 23 - About 800 points 600 points (pick 30) difference. That is remarkably fair for Preuss I would reckon, later second round. But with the ‘slippage’ due to f/s and nga’s might change that (who knows in which direction).
  8. I really like him as a player, but jeez he has been off the boil (bar one game) in two years. We have essentially played without him this year, eve when he was in the team. Brown has played his role, and against the bombers, gave him a lesson. Unless he drastically improves, he is surplus to needs. Would need to have confidence that he could drop the weight and play the way we know he can. Otherwise it is better to both parties to have him go elsewhere. Lets find a sucker (suitor) and see what the deal looks like.
  9. Got a fine for a nasty sling tackle. Got away with the push in the back, though...
  10. Gone from ‘above average’ winger to ‘average’ for the last 2 years (AFL.com ratings) Maybe it is part of the decline of the dorks, but is he really best available? A three year deal speaks of dad’s army, not ruthless. Give him a year with clauses Up to 3 and an iced vovo.
  11. Second rounder we get from GWS plus a bag of honey soy chicken chips
  12. Big Brandon getting ahead of himself? Second ruck at two clubs for a reason. Behind a first year kid says a lot. Plays about 1.5 quarters per game. Really struggled playing full games and his hit outs really suffered. Is he going there to be back up to Mummy?? Wish him well, bring on a suitable draft pick.
  13. 3 years? Would want to be on low coin with clauses. No guarantee he is coaching material, so who knows if he adds anything there. Is even in the Dorks leadership group? Would rather a 25 yo, otherwise develop Baker for the role. Spend our money elsewhere. He is a FA, so would cost us nothing in picks
  14. More suitors, higher price!
  15. Great news! Very happy with this.
  16. The guy was taken pick 50 ish. Complete punt this deep. Has probably outperformed. The big question really is ‘does his skill set improve our system, or work against it’? He gets absolutely derided here and elsewhere (often even called a spud) when he gets caught manning grass, getting worked out of a contest, or turned inside out at ground level. I think he has good disposal by foot. Probably good at taking the resting ruckman when forward, or acting as an outlet passer. May suit other systems better than ours, where we probably need another good intercept defender and someone that can play tall/small (perhaps why the club persist with Smith) to reinforce May and Lever. If we get a decent pick, then may be better for all if he plays elsewhere
  17. If we want to play finals, gotta learn to throw and get away with it.
  18. If he goes the spoil, will his punch be ham fisted?
  19. Rhyming slang?
  20. At those prices we don’t need him
  21. We only would go after Brown if we think TMac as a forward is a bust. If he is a bust, no one else will take him. We will then be stuck with all or a decent part of TMAcs contract plus brown’s. Anyone hearing anything about TMAc, beyond the Basic rumours (didn’t crack the team so will want out)?
  22. If there are real suitors, then even if he wants to stay it is in his interest to let his manager field offers. Melbourne can match if they choose, he can take less and stay if he chooses, or he can take the best offer and run. He has all the power, and I imagine his manager will be chasing all offers so as it furthers his position. Will probably not announce anything until this has all had a chance to play out. Nice if he has already signed, but why hold back the announcement unless it is ‘pending other offers’?
  23. Article on AFL.com says third rounder. Would rather keep him, unless we have massive salary cap issues.
  24. It was what was mooted would be needed to buy him away from Melbourne. Seems big coin. What he is actually on might be less...
  25. Improvement in the list: Petty, Nieshke, Jordan all come on. First year players get better. Second stringers either step up to the role or step off. Bennell to owe us 50K in effort to deliver his talent to the game. If KK is right, he is our other winger (I doubt this, I think he wont play another game). Improvement in the game Lots of tweaks by goody to the game style, so time can only help cement roles. Improvement in the skills and role playing: Better coaching of the basics in context. Guys need to have deep trust that as they play their roles, others will too. When it their turn to go, they just go. At the moment there is too much fumbling and almost second guessing, like there is no trust who has to go when. New assistant coach roster Greater consistency Time, trust and effort in preparation. Mental side as much as physical
