  1. I think the wing is all about endurance gut running, not just speed. The ability to not just be fast once, but to hold the width and continuously it in sprint efforts is what matters. Interesting that Langdon made such a difference to us as a winger yet he was not in the fast 5?
  2. From AFL.com, here are our speedsters for 2020. Interstingly, many teams that we think are fast are significantly slower than us if you compare results. It is not speed of player, but speed of ball that counts! Would these have been your top 5? Top-five fastest players in 2020 Christian Salem, 34.8km/h v Sydney, round 15 Michael Hibberd, 34.6km/h v Collingwood, round 12 Aaron vandenBerg, 34.3km/h v Fremantle, round 16 Kysaiah Pickett , 34.2km/h v Brisbane, round 8 James Harmes, 33.9km/h v Collingwood, round 12 Fastest speeds clocked in a game in 2020 Christian Salem, 34.8km/h v Sydney, round 15 Michael Hibberd, 34.6km/h v Collingwood, round 12 Aaron vandenBerg, 34.3km/h v Fremantle, round 16 Kysaiah Pickett , 34.2km/h v Brisbane, round 8 James Harmes, 33.9km/h v Collingwood, round 12
  3. Anyone else staggered that Rankine rated 4th in the rising star? Serong I get, Anderson and King also. Rankine is a no pressure one trick pony who kicked a few flashy goals. Will make good teams look better, but ‘rising star’?
  4. Might there be a juicy first rounder we could upgrade our second rounder to ??
  5. I’m not sure I could handle a team with so many cartoon lookalikes. First beavis and butthead, now sideshow Bob? Need a lie down and a scotch....
  6. Reported on AFL.com we would be open to enquiries re Braydon. lots of clubs looking for a ruckman. what is he worth? does it leave us without enough ruck depth?
  7. Unless you are smiling like a coked up chipmunk every second you are on stage, such a photo is always possible,. If his future is in question, wouldn’t you wait to catch such a shot? Hope @Lord Nev is on the money and he is locked away with us.
  8. As a hypothetical, who would have you selected instead of these 8?
  9. It would not be a trade, all we would get is a free agent compo. maybe end of first round unless he goes on a ridiculous term and coin
  10. No One has a crystal ball. The club has to consider the upside potential of who they contract, as well as decide if they are better than what else might be available. SOme are always going to do better than expected (Jason Taylor is Genius!) and some worse (Jason Taylor is a Bust!). Simply put, there is always going to be a fringe of developing/potential players, many of whom come onto the list with later picks or ad DFA/SPP type arrangements. A lot of luck goes into this whole process, and you really cant cut 8 from the list and not replace them with nothing - gotta always look to improve the list. If you dont have 8 high picks, then it makes no sense to cut 8 low cost fringe dwellers and replace them with...8 low cost fringe dwellers. would suggest from your list Baker and Lockhart are definite improvers, ANB still good value and Joel smith a mystery. Plenty to like in Chandler as well. Not a bad strike rate from the human lucky dip that is drafting.
  11. Good luck and thanks to these three. Suggest they are the first batch - that had little or no perceived market value to other clubs, so were not held pending suitors. I think the Wagner boys will succeed in the second tier comp, and maybe Kyle gets picked up by virtue of his family name (his bro goes OK) by another AFL outfit.
  12. New midfield coach, additional midfield clearance strategies, additional silk rotating through the middle
  13. These turgid [censored] suckers. Over opinionated knobs who get sucked in to the Bruce and BT excitement meter. Right Lingie?
  14. How did May not get a gig? A disgrace.
  15. I believe he still has a contract. It would best serve him and the club if they worked out what was going wrong (why he is ‘out of form’ as Goody said in a presser) and worked really hard to turn that around. At his best, he is one of the first selected. If he can regain that lost form, he would be a big asset, even if we did pick up another forward. As a mobile swing man, he would be hard to match up on and hard to stop. I hope the exit interview is more about what they reckon needs to happen for him to regain his form (is it injury based??). If he is up for that, then get on with it. If not, then you are welcome to test the market. I wonder what a medical at another club would show up?
  16. Oliver May Petracca Langdon Gawn
  17. Corrected original post, thanks for the spot. I think it was 2, but Riv deserving for both individual games and body of work.
  18. So he borrowed the in laws car? So what! This guy is pulling absolute nonsense out of his prison wallet to try to be relevant.
  19. Fancy that, not one demon on the list. 2 rising star nominations. However, very happy with Riv, jacko and Kozzie as recruits. Saw enough to like what is coming through. Thoughts in the selections?
  20. Mine is still in the post....
  21. It is interesting trying to guess. We have no line of sight on any of the list and what the coaches think without VFL action. Before the last 2 weeks, Baker would have been on people’s chopping block, but now he is a ‘retain’. People calling for Smith to get cut may not be on the same page as the coach - they selected him over and over again. OMac? Horses for courses sort of defender that may have lost his place to Tommo. TMac? What was up with the big fella? Players like chandler, Dunkley and Nieshke may get rolled over if we can’t replace them with better options. There is no use emptying the potato bucket just to refill it with different potatoes. Every list change needs to lead to an upgrade. If the demons have a style and a gameplan, then the players have to be fit for purpose for this. Waiting to see who they cut first - the ones they believe have zero trade value (even for a late 4th rounder). We don’t have to delist players before Oct 31 (end of contract time) I would have thought.
  22. Second offence - Spargo and Kozzie were the first - no suspension of fines, all in cap
  23. Thanks again rusty. I think that is all for this year. The stats show that we have a few major gaps - a bit more class in the middle (outside run), a T-Mac (interesting that he ranked the same last year and this year) and a small forward to support Kozzie. Ollie, Trac, May and Langdon had great years, and I expect to see them at the top of the Bluey. It will be interesting to see the Bluey top 10 vs this list. Appreciate your efforts in 2020.
  24. Our forward line and mid to forward connection is a huge problem. Our whole gameplan is based upon getting the ball into our forward half and controlling it there until we score, and not letting it out easily to stop the opposition scoring. Weid is important to this, and has certainly played well without scoring goals. He needs decent support. I think we need: An additional small lock in forward who has speed and goal hunger to pair with Kozzie. A big lump of a target that can pair with Weids that will scare the pants off defenders - clunks marks, smashes packs. (Not sure there are any of these about). Half forwards with brilliant pressure and laser like delivery. (Bennell, spargo and Fritsch) Midfielders that can think about what they are doing (Trac, Oliver, maybe Rivers or Jordan) So for mine, a small lock in forward and a marking beast are missing. Can T-Mac make it back??? I hope so, but as we dont know what is wrong, it is difficult to make this assessment from outside).
  25. Trac was just trying to pick up an extra vote in the brown-low. I’ll see myself out.
