  1. Very big business now
  2. For mine and it's been touched on by others also, and mentioned by myself previously but as bears repeating I think the holistic position is ; does WADA have any option to not (appeal) if it is to continue its stance regarding drugs, supplements and dubious methodologies ? If it doesn't it effectively pulls the carpet from under itself. All the whiles til now it's had to play to others agendas and timelines. Now it plays to its own. WADA will be conversant with when and how to appeal and it will. The Essendon propaganda machine will carry on for the whiles, we'll get interlopers like Sanitry Pad, there will be others whose cart is more laden with mischief than reason and this thread will bumble along until the inevitable. A guilty verdict and associated penalties. For just as foreseeable was the AFLs virtual exoneration by crafty manipulation will be a proper hearing on neutral ground. What's at stake really is the relevance of fair competition and a body to oversee it. WADA is duty bound not only by its own code to appeal but by its very credo. Put more simply, bears do.
  3. theres gunna be some unhappy supporters come EOS , quite a few 'faves' might be moved on. I also know some won't be. Be interesting to see Goody stamp more of his ideal on the list.we are evolving, and that means change. Bring it.
  4. the clock may tick for WADA but the Bell tolls for Essendon !
  5. its a good point. We seem to still have qyuite the collection of half way decent VFL footy players on our list. By this i mean they wont particularly worry too many for senior spots whilst playing ok in the magoos. That step up is a step too far/hard. The Doggies have better depth and hence pressure as a result. MFC still need to churn a dozen or so at eos and many a dlander might wince or moan when some names are erased from the list. As long as the flavour of our list is still tainted with NQRs as opposed developing and/or raw talent we'll be going nowhere fast.
  6. commonly called, painting oneself into a corner !!
  7. I hear what your saying , but countless posts by various refer to this notion of some of the players ( been around a bit longer) as being damaged from this previous era. I dont care for this idea any more. Things move on. The players in the main who remain are quite capable of committing to the game and efforts ( some not so well ) past is past
  8. I sometimes wonder if we beating a dead horse with all this "damage' rubbish Here is the 2013 list: 2 Nathan Jones 4 Jack Watts 5 Jimmy Toumpas 6 Chris Dawes 7 Jack Viney 8 James Frawley 9 Jack Trengove (c) 10 Shannon Byrnes 11 Mitch Clark 12 Colin Sylvia 13 Jordie McKenzie 14 Lynden Dunn 15 David Rodan 17 Sam Blease 19 James Strauss 20 Colin Garland 21 Cameron Pedersen 23 Josh Tynan 25 Tom McDonald 26 Daniel Nicholson 27 Tom Gillies 28 Joel Macdonald 30 James Sellar 31 Jack Grimes (c) 32 Michael Evans 33 Dominic Barry 34 Dean Kent 35 Luke Tapscott 36 Aaron Davey 37 Max Gawn 38 Jeremy Howe 39 Neville Jetta 40 Mark Jamar 41 Troy Davis 42 Jake Spencer 43 Rory Taggert 44 Rohan Bail 45 Matt Jones 46 Dean Terlich 48 Jack Fitzpatrick 22 James Magner 47 Tom Couch 49 Nathan Stark those in Bold, still on list, those in Italics I'd suggest are starting best 22 currently. Theres ONLY 10 so somewhere in the nature of 12 or so are new since our failed-experiment aka as the " Dark Daze " Im not buying this 'damaged' rubbish anymore. We have some players who simply dont play up to the level required. Yet , a lot of others can and do lift and step up. Stop playing this 'victim' card. We are what we are NOW, because it's ....NOW and we have who we have
  9. LDVC I think what some are suggesting is where you have a program involving the whole team ( near as) hundreds, ne,thousands of injections of various and numerous drugs there need be records. If you can't produce them to ASADA ( let alone anyone else ) then the default presumption ought to be they're not allowed, therefore guilt. Individuals etc are catered to already.
  10. It's a shame though we don't get a Friday game against them...be the best of both worlds
  11. where does anyone suggest Beveridge a better option .It was commented upon that he's doing rather well, to the extent they're amazingly ahead of us in a very short amount of time. Roos2Goodwin I think is still a good way to go. I think Goodwin might prove a better game day tactician as well. Roos seems to get caught flat footed in games, but as head coach while we develop and build he's ably suited.
  12. A lot to agree with there. Beveridge is doing remarkably well. Not so much back to the drawing board I feel as certainly a few trips back to the well. What we have in place in terms of design is I think, sound. It's the lack of suitable players that negates it working ATM. Some to come through will help but we still need greater depth and a couple of really talented able types to get us firing. Dare I say (already) we'll go shopping come EOS...clear out the stale and refurbish with better.
  13. Top post Deelicious , cheers. Rarely get to magoos these days. Thanks for the insight. Agree with you re McCartney. I see good things emanating from his influence.
  14. whats the betting there aren't a myriad of changes in the wind ? Lots of new holes need lids !!
  15. its going to be the pivotal moment when someone finally gets donk into the box....caged
  16. yes and no.He DOES get amongst it........sometimes. The thing for mine is the effectiveness of any excursions into the world of argy bargy , or rather the lack of it. It's rare a tackle does much. I can only hope more and continued Coaching in said art can change this. You don't need to play like Atilla the Hun, but if you're going to tackle...tackle with effect
  17. So the Hird-troll has passed off ?
  18. No there not. Match fixing involves a ruse, a subterfuge. Match fixing invariably involves a team or player ev acting contrary to the expected. List management only really furthers the established trend.Tanking /list management is pretty open really, it's quite upfront, there's no real pretence, hence the how of practically all understanding what's going on.
  19. Youd think some would get that.... i mean its not hard !
  20. im not. Nor are various others. How exactly is drug taking akin to list managing ?
  21. we only did what many others had done...just did it badly. You know this is a straw argument. As to comparing in any shape and form the shenanigans at Windy Hill to our debacle of list managing, well you're on your own there Bob.
  22. youre missing the point surely. Wed want NONE of them in a first 22 to be serious let alone Watts !! Bring on the scythe !!
