Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
Also need ppl that can teach the 'craft' Quite a few elements to our game need revising. If there were to be a title to the chapter of Melbourne's history for 2026.. I dub it "Revision" There's a bit to do in late 25 andc26 before we lift the cup in 27 !! That chapter tbc "Perfecting" If there was for mine a continuing observation of recent times its that we didn't play with much verve. Was as though the natural flair of many was stifled by a game that tried to pattern too much. Listening to the incoming he sounds like hes looking to bring back a bit of dash and dare. We got one flag one way... lets gets another, another way. Go Dees

Always got to be a 'first' I dont see that quality as being a hindrance.

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
I do wonder if back on that day in Sep 21 as a switch got flipped and the Dees midfield kicked into "blitzkrieg" mode , whether the ( then ) Doggies midfield assistant pondered... what we couldn't do with a few guys like that. FF>> Well, show us 😉

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
Listening to Guerra I heard it as 'ideals' more than absolutes. Not every game facilitates high scores... its more about the attitude and intention. I think its more about how King will mould and direct his charges. End if day is about WINNING... more than the actual score Arguably there were half a dozen games this year that ought to have been wins. Win those we're heading in right direction. Guerra mentions that all of the interviewees intimates they could see the problems and had ideas as to fixes. King ought to know a bit about winning. He ought to have an understanding about losing too ( in a positive manner ) . Footy can be very 'sliding-doors' . If he can bring a style and regime that addresses what is wrong at Melbourne and supplant that atop what is good at Melbourne then there is no reason we can't turn things about fairly quickly. Im looking to see some of our lot thoroughly reinvigorated in 26.

Suspect we'll get a teaser when we more fully understand what the entire FD looks like.

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
Exactly... he has a need to be instantly revisionist in order to redirect gaze.. He's no bunny but neither is Guerra I've no real problem in him (NB) attempting such provided he understands no one needs believe him. We weren't head-hunting him. He was invited into the selection. He chose to. He forgot, our bat, our ball. Now he looks like he dithered and looks a bit of a goose. I dont really care. I'm sure he'll cope. We on the other hand have things to get on with. Roll on Sep 29

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
Truth be told I suspect it was nothing about 'speed' and everything about the proprietariness of the process. I think any and all could have been forgiven for remembering who was in the driving seat. It was us.. not anyone else. It was our prerogative to adjust as things became clearer and what became abundantly clear was not all were both feet in on this process. Bit like musical chairs... dont get caught out when the music stops. Buck's was. No soup for you. I wish him well with Tassie. He'll need it.

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
That was a fun little chat eh.... Caro.... I'm gunna trap you . PG. .. yeah.... nahhh... Biggest takeaway of all this ...in my humblest view , is that all along the MFC did what was best for the MFC . This wasn't about buying into everyone's narrative . It was about solving a problem. This started with recognising what that was ( in terms of what's best , again, for the MFC ) and starting along the path to its solution. The path had a few twists and turns . The path had a few doggy doo landmines as well as some jerry built hurdles. All focus was kept on the prize, but eyes were also peeled for anything set to derail OUR process. Result MFC 1..... all the others ... O Im truly encouraged not just by the selection but by ( trend appearing) the clarity of vision. We're not going to play other's silly games we'll just concentrate on ours and hopefully that game, on the field is as adept as our game off the field ( is shaping ) . Go Dees

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
I'm actually very impressed by the cleverness of the "clarity" question ( if indeed thats how it went down and no reason to doubt ) "If we offered you the job....... " It's not the answer per se... but the reaction that gives you the only real knowledge you require about the attitude of the applicant. Mr Buckley was playing cute. He's entitled to play it any way he likes. The Club is also entitled to call it any way it sees. Again. Impressed by clarity of vision. Looking forward to seeing how we play.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
What it suggests to me that whilst players may enjoy status within club standings that of itself need not necessarily mirror itself to outside assessment. That we finished 14th on 7 wins underpins reality. ( as you allude ) The Demon $ doesn’t go far on the AFL exchange

Or is used in conjunction with 'whatever' in a trade for an "understood" ability. Many ways to use a pick.

Farewell Judd McVee
Some folk are forgetting... picks are currency 😉 You're welcome.

I believe effective might have been the word you could have used.
