Well, the odd thing is in his earlier days he was indeed quite maverick and laterally minded. Even until 6-6-6 he was up for trying things. It never loses irony that 6-6-6 was solely designed to thwart a Demon coach... Strategy.... I'll give him some kudos he has more than an idea as to how game can be played. Translating and applying it however seemed to be a different kettle of fish. Holistically I think he's quite good. The day game and micro strategy, possibly not his forte. Good luck to him , I suppose. Doesn't particularly figure highly in my thoughts or concern.

I can understand the suggestion he doesn't have world shattering burst speed. Hell.. delist him !! He is generally quick enough. More importantly he has footy brains, footy skills and who'd da thunk plays really good footy. He carries himself as far more accomplished and confident than his mere years ought to allow. As he gets better ( now let that sink in.... he will still evolve) and he becomes wisercand more experienced his craft really knows no limit. Every now and again kids come along and make you sit up and get you watching the game with elan. Here is such a lad. Yep, he'll stuff up from time to time but the upside is massive. He just looks purposeful and capable. Can we find a few more pls.

The move to lock these blokes in for another year looking quite shrewd now 😉 Starting to see method amidst the Madness

Starting to ponder whether we might have a seriously clever bloke in charge now ( well almost ). Very Schroedinger like.. started/not started .. lol I think the so called non footy background is maybe the best aspect. To be able to assess a situation without being encumbered by "well this is how you do it" types of thoughts will I think prove key in getting us sorted. His time sitting on the boundary as it were might have afforded him a different view than had ne been sitting among his footy brethren. He can obviously see our footy had become either underperforming or dysfunctional depending upon your bent. What he sees is a mess/problem to be sorted and sort it he will. He's already looking to isolate Richo. Smart move. Not that he would would ever be my choice but I now get why he wanted Watson. We as a club need to be better, different. Very much looking forward to see what we look like on and off field going into 26. Seems very purposeful this guy. Thats good in my book.

Very happy for both to get another year. As we go through a "change" I can only believe we are much better with their experience and effort for the coming season than we would be without. I do sense there will be a decent amount of change on our list. Some natural , some not so much. Congratulations to the both 👏 Hopefully they can both impart some of their experience and work ethic onto the younger brigade. Kudos

Yep.. 26 is a sorting , building transitional type season imho. Get a few kinks out.... see what's what, who's who etc. Then keep structuring the A team off and on field for 27. We'll look and feel different at end of 26.. might attract a different ilk of player too.

Now this is the $64 question. But perhaps a better question as opposed how are you going to 'fix' something...is... What are you going to BUILD and how are are you going to do it ?? For mine its the latter. Need to build an essentially new team. This ones worn out. There is the semblance of a new order coming through and imho that's what you take and build upon. Getting the duct tape out and slapping it around ... nahh !! I want a coach to create a new era side.

Funny you say that.... an expat mate of mine ( a Dee tragic too ) watches from his US home. I mentioned the umpiring was ... well.. totally !%$@'d .. he also retorted.. a few came back too. The balance though firmly in their favour. He also saw what I saw... how often the umps were so super quick with their whistles they were practically prescient 😉

Understanding umpiring is actually very straightforward Red... its simple , it's black and white ....
