And again i go back to the basic question... are we setting out to create a champion team or a team with a few champions. Invariably there are teams ( playing well ) where quite a few on their list were relative unknowns a few years ago. A top team has more than a smattering of good players, playing their role well topped off with a relative handful of very good players and often a standout or two. The gameplan and coaching is super important. It's about marrying up all of this into a cohesive effective unit. The idea that the panacea to an ailing team is some sort of silver bullet in the form a defecting champion is imho an absolute furphy. We need to worry more about our 'system'... how we play more than this bloke or that.

Sam Flanders
Where Flanders ends up may not be quite as simple as 'i wanna go there'. He's still contracted ,but a wantaway. Much will depend on suitable trades available. It might just be Melbourne are in a better position for that trade than the Aints. Time will tell. Exciting..... the Circus is coming.๐ช๐คก๐

I have no idea as to the terms of either's contract offer. I think it would be premature to discount the King connection. When others didn't show faith ( so much ) in Flanders, King did. Be very surprised if that goes unremembered. What bearing it may have ๐คทโโ๏ธ

I've now a distinct impression.. Is ONLY my opinion.... I'm inclined to think that since Tracc's unfortunate injury and dealings on the sidelines that he became particularly jaded with things. As a result ( again just my thoughts ) he may have developed into a more mercenary athlete. Some of his remarks since could be read in that vein. Or I could be totally on the wrong Track ๐ As such, if of this bent, it would be very easy ne possibly quite prudent to just sit back, say nothing and let your manager take the calls and field the offers. It will not surprise me one bit if he up and leaves. That said he could stay and play. It will be whatever suits. Can't say I blame him if this is his view on it all. His all but Freudian slip at the Bluey suggest that this is "his job" fits this mould of thinking to a T. Go Dees

Am sure he'd find himself some nice digs close to Metricon. Not far to get away to Noosa when wanting. Choppers do Coolangatta to Noosa ..

Or..... instead of saying anything.... Say nothing and let it all unfold.... if it ( wherever you were quietly looking to head to ) fell over there is sort of plausible deniability. Think I'm seeing the clouds lifting...... Go Dees- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
And it would be very Melbourne ( luck wise ) if he did that elsewhere.- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Tbh... thats my view too. But I can see the other side of the coin. I wouldn't choose that course but get some will. You dont always need to fan the sparks and embers to cause a fire. Sometimes you just need to walk away. The silence does increase my curiosity.- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Ghosty... the Circus is coming anyway. Come monday when there is no other news ( immediate) than Trade, given the absence of any narrative framing it will ALL be invented. Granted 99% is anyway. Im truly not sure though what is worse.. saying nothing or something ( non specific ) It will be presumed by some ( media ) that saying nothing is to avoid incriminating himself and their next question or segway is what/why. Granted its very reminiscent of that classic " when did you stop beating your wife " type of situation. We'll all see how it all pans out soon enough I suppose... ๐คก๐ช๐คก- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Yes and No... If he was genuinely against the idea he only has to say so. Nothing more nothing less. Given the history he , whether warranted, deserved or otherwise, would, as a social media savvy person be aware vacuums are filled. Exhibit A ... Oliver. No one is suggesting, dare I say, that he has to but not saying anything will invite any number of explanations. If he isn't prepared to initiate or control the narrative then no one ought be surprised question marks appear. Something like.. "I've enjoyed this season and am happy at Melbourne. I've no particular desire to look to a trade and am very much looking forward to Steve (King) coming on board and discussing how we all work towards a more successful '26 " Doesnโt open doors, Doesnโt shut doors. And we all move along...- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026

Wt f are you doing....talking sense... stop it, stop it !! The truth as they say often lies in the middle somewhere. Are we pushing him out ? Doubt it. Has he asked for a trade ? Seemingly not. That's the black and white of it so to speak. Ahhh.. but the grey. All the half said and inferred things... the if's, maybes and could/should/woulds. A simple reality , distasteful to some, is that the idea has not been unequivocally shut down. It could be, but it hasn't. There is only one takeaway from that and that the possibility is live. Note live, not necessarily likely nor probable.... but possible. This to me simply spells pragmatism. Im all for pragmatism.. Go Dees- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I've lost the plot ?? lol Firstly... I said should he go. Where did I say we would get 'nothing' of he did. You seem to pick and choose. Good luck.with that. Im happy enough understanding where we really are. You're perfectly entitled to your own views. If he does decide to seek other pastures the contract is just something to be accommodated.- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
You're dreaming. Your expectations are not in the realm of "now" . Should he go, You're going to be bitterly disappointed I'm afraid.- 2025 Grand Final

๐คWasn't aware they had special phones that blocked certain apps ๐ Lucky they do lol We'll have to have trying in blinkers too lest they inadvertently take note of any track work. In honour of your idea we'll call it the Red4leg membership !!- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
It's hard to know when no one is saying boo. An element to all of this might be , emphasis..might... that a lot of ppl , including players, were caught off guard by the club casting Goodwin adrift. I think a lot of players admin etc all thought they knew the lay of the land and their place upon it. And then they didn't. Overnight a lot of plans and thoughts to the future effectively vapourised into the ether. All bets were off. A new slate was coming to town. Have a sneaking suspicion this unsettled a few apple carts . A lot of things seem to have "not happened" as many might have thought they might have,by now, pre Goidwin axing. Has this caused a number to step back a bit and just watch and wait before giving away too much ?? No one was game to play the first card. Then the club played another. "All those playing for the Dees take a step forward ..... where do you think you're going Stephen !!" This possibly only cements in to the minds of some to stand still and say nothing, for the moment. In a week the new Sheriff ambles into Dodge. He'll start assembling his posse .Those he hasn't tipped his hat with a howdy yet are bound to get a sit-down. I think then and only then will things start unfolding, and rather quickly. Til then the rabid rabble aka footy media will scurry around in the shadows ferreting for any titbit. Whilst they're doing that all else are participating in national spaghetti western week.......- Tassie Devils Possible Extinction
๐คNo... think we're after something symmetrical....- Tassie Devils Possible Extinction
Hard to compare apples and oranges. The amount of engineering to span an Oz oval type stadium with that kind of suspended design as compared a much smaller soccer pitch is quite a bit different. You might possibly have a look at a hybrid design but then the cantilevering of the surrounding overhead might present its own basket of nasties. I keep coming back to the need of a roof. A nicety perhaps ....a necessity ??- Welcome to Demonland: Brody Mihocek
Nothing wrong with punting on kids... but you need players out there that know what the actual f they're doing to show these kids the way. Our current forward line is all a bit ..... And it needs to change.. Needs guidance on field - Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
