For sure Getting excited about a 2nd in b/f is marvellous, unless you take a few steps back consider this is a team that overwhelmingly underachieved. Saying this has relevance as it puts perspective back into play. He went ok.. but there were games where applying a more generic AFL filter they were only so-so. He undoubtedly did well by the coach's metrics and thats what rules the b/f. The overseer of those criteria and assessment is out the door. Take from that what you may. He's not the match winner he was. I get why that might be, but what is...IS. In reality I'm pretty ambivalent towards his staying. Clarry for all his faults seems to genuinely want to be a Dee , play well and contribute. I don't see him getting sookilala. Without doubt King needs to parlay with both and assess. If they stay/stay go/stay stay/go go/go I'm fine with that as I will be thinking discussion has lead to decision and we all move on. I didn't attend the Bluey but am told appearances can be deceptive and... watch this space. Some eyebrows were raised... others just quietly nodded to selves Sep29.. Brand new day... What follows will be interesting. Just want a competitive and successful team.

Also funny to note that a particular group of players had decided to throw the playbook out the window after half time. They were encouraged to do so by someone not at the club now. It took a little while to click... but we saw it. The message... go play footy... trust your gut. There's NO tomorrow. We haven't played like that in a while. It shows. Imagine if we did 😉

You can bet that a certain new coach in town will have his to do list for sep 29. London to a brick there are particular names he wants a chat with. King has a lot to get on board with and a lot to sort in a dizzyingly short space of time. He'll want to know who's on his side and who ain't. Some of these convos won't be long but they'll be ro the point. There's a new Sheriff in town lads. I've a gut feeling #5 is #1 on that list.

Im sure he's got a whole folder full of player bios.. all the good, bad and ugly of our wonderfully talented tribe. He's helped set up teams AGAINST us. He'll have an idea 😉

Meaning it was very well nuanced. Part of the weeding process imho.. Kinda reminds me of a military story. Unbelievably, it's true. A British Air Contingent were looking for numbers to bolster a "jump" exercise. A Ghurka Regiment was approached for volunteers. Of the 100 or so only 5 put their hands up. The British Officer in charge was highly surprised. These ARE Ghurkas after all. The Brit asked the Ghurka leader why only 5 ??? The reply was... well.... we didn't know we'd be getting parachutes !! So sometimes its worth asking questions across a group. It's the reaction that says what you really need to know.

I know 😉 It's footy after all. There have to to be some elements effectively the same or very similar.. But more than happy for Kingy to all but apply a clean slate.

Also need ppl that can teach the 'craft' Quite a few elements to our game need revising. If there were to be a title to the chapter of Melbourne's history for 2026.. I dub it "Revision" There's a bit to do in late 25 andc26 before we lift the cup in 27 !! That chapter tbc "Perfecting" If there was for mine a continuing observation of recent times its that we didn't play with much verve. Was as though the natural flair of many was stifled by a game that tried to pattern too much. Listening to the incoming he sounds like hes looking to bring back a bit of dash and dare. Listening to Guerra I heard it as 'ideals' more than absolutes. Not every game facilitates high scores... its more about the attitude and intention. I think its more about how King will mould and direct his charges. End if day is about WINNING... more than the actual score Arguably there were half a dozen games this year that ought to have been wins. Win those we're heading in right direction. Guerra mentions that all of the interviewees intimates they could see the problems and had ideas as to fixes. King ought to know a bit about winning. He ought to have an understanding about losing too ( in a positive manner ) . Footy can be very 'sliding-doors' . If he can bring a style and regime that addresses what is wrong at Melbourne and supplant that atop what is good at Melbourne then there is no reason we can't turn things about fairly quickly. Im looking to see some of our lot thoroughly reinvigorated in 26.

Was also the expectation this past March etc. alas... 🙄🥴 We seem better run now. Looking forward to seeing the manifestation of change.
