Mr Squiggly currently has us finishing 12th...with 12 wins. Even amother win (13) we'd be 9th ....on % Our work not only cut out....but stacked high. To make the 8 we more than likely need 7 wins.... out of 9. Who really sees that happening ? What is... IS

Much is made of any and all evaluations . Ive been one.. and some are saying even with the best scans and protocols ... how was it missed. In all of this the the "blindingly obvious" ( correct jnr ) seems just as blindindly overlooked and/or disregarded. He couldn't move properly and was in pain. You could see it....I could see it....I know others here could.. The Collingwood players could and seemed more concerned. How bizarre .. . Among any questions and evals did it occur to anyone to do the one "bleeding obvious" test.. throw a ball high to Trac...... The result should have been again....bleeding obvious and he would never have been sent out on the field and most likely ambo'd to hospital for scans there and then. Why wasnt this the case.?

Spot on Accuracies are reflective. We seem to make harder work of it by way of how we enter 50... conversely better opposition teams are straighter. Numbers alone are very rubbery....need context. I for one am not expecting the 'accuracy gods' to miraculously swing things back out way. That's purely down to us.... in both regards.

Id agree in that culture and results can well be two different things. That essences ebb and flow between.the two might be inevitable however.

Not remembering we played brilliantly in game 1 ( or zero...lol ) ... nor did we remember to turn up in time against tge Lions. I'm thinking whatever underlying malais exists has been around much longer than 6 weeks. Yes...won a flag .... a good thing. Trend since.... not so much... But please all, when ever discussion goes into a direction folk don't enjoy.... break glass and hoist that flag. You're right...we aren't going too well. Might possibly be the only aspect everyone agrees upon. Not thinking many if any arw either curled up or rocking monotonously.... Need to fix a few things/play better. Yep, go along with that but there might be a tad more than a few things .....unless you're simplying it as ....need a working gameplan, need better skills and need more commitment/endeavour. There's some things that spring to mind. Probably just need to wave a wand over that 'short' list. All good. I agree some need to harden up.... but might i respectfully suggest we start with those playing closely folllowed by those directing !! Need some HARD decisions made....and HARD evaluations. Shouldn't be too hard....just a few things.

We aren't playing finals this year short of a miracle. 3/4 wins doesn't cut it.. 5 is iffy.. 6 to be sure. Who seriously sees us winning 6 games from here on in ? Always possible......but truthfully unlikely. I've witnessed Melb revivals but we had a fighting team... playing full tilt...and turned tge tables. Is this now ? Computer says no. Need to just play to our best long term interests. Forget 24 imho

Gee ...we don't like it when faced with the truth... so tempted to cite A Few Good Men. Take away the author's identity i challenge the naysayers to actually debate the article. So easy to lazily call names and mock disdain. For mine he pretty well nails it. The truth can be and often is ugly. Actually I thought he held back somewhat. So again...point by point ... engage... Or just sit there.... and throw barbs simply because the truth annoys.

Thats actually not too shabby an outlook. The thing that oftem bemuses me, and concurrently annoys me is for the most, and the many we ALL want success...not just a few wins on the trot, not just escaping the grim reapers sense of 'injury' humour... but success and if not at least respect. We all ,often seems, have differing viewpoints but the ideal is tge same... a competitive and successful team. Currently that's an illusion. Cutting through to reality we need to be maverick. Need to be honest enough to understand where we are and brave enough to let loose those we've brought on board to help us. Is the timing ideal ?? Hell no but it reminds me a little of when someone asks when are you ready you have kids... reality... never. It will happen. You will adjust You persevere.... you fake it til you make it .. And so we must as a club embrace the youth, shepherd them as best and see what happens. Time to roll a die or two and mix it up. Otherwise, just atm, all we are likely to see is same same same. And why would we not ? Again...as much as it surprises some zi actually liked Goodwins left field ideas early in the day ( the getting there was one thing ) .He demonstrated a flair ... he needs to again. Currently we are devoid of any.

Aye laddie ....thers's the rub eh. And sadly so. Do we limp, hobble and sputter with the likes of current team sheets...and accomplish ?? ( i really don't know , but not thinking a great deal ) .... or look to rotate a few of the 'elders' on the pitch JUST to help out the kids where ever possible. For me the rest of this year is about learning/evaluation/ and miles in legs. Even if we fell into the finals ...we arent lasting 5 mins there. This is not one of those fairytale years....not by a country mile. Give the kids banks of games... see who takes to it. Really, what's there to lose ??

sorry...you are so fixated on a personal situation you cant see the TEAM. I can fully appreciate the position Gus is in. What he loves , he can not do any more. I could imagine he doesn't want others to 'retaliate' as you would have it. I get it.. But I'm going to throw the counter view at you that that might be seen as toatally selfish. How so. He's not out there, so let those that are get on with it. Why should they have anyrestraints physically or mentally put upon them ?? Flying the flag means standing your ground, both for yourself and your fellow team mate. It means holding the honour of being able to represent your club as all but sacrosanct. You think these are TWO different conversations and I would suggest you dont understand that they AREN"T and never are. No one is seriously suggesting going out there and thumping Maynard ( not in this day and age )....but neither should anyone be buddying up to him or anyone of the opposition. Yes we're as soft as butter....no one remonstrates. You don't get it...that's fine.... The game is NOT about Gus...it's about those that are on the field on any given day. I seriously am wondering what some think AFL footy is about. It's actually a highly competitive, COMBATIVE, phyical game played withfurious intent. What it is NOT , is a Sunday afternoon Social with Tea and Scones. There's nothing wrong with having a Devonshire with your 'bestie' from anothr club .What you do out of hours is fine...couldn't give a rats but come time you don the Jumper and cross that line and you're playing for the club then it has to be a no holds barred full on encounter . You're not out there to make friends.. Do that in your own bloody time please. I can only wonder what the likes of Grinter, Biffin, Ditterich, Whelan would have made of that !! ( to only mention a few) Ol' Ronald Dale would be livid I should think... A very fair player....but by golly he wouldn't have stood for that rubbish...as he was indoctrinated that your "Melbourne First" as you ought to be.

Ive attended/watched footy since a lil tacker of 5. First games in 1965.. This just for context. Teams under Smithy were hard at it . You didn't get a guernsey if you even looked like a shirker. The respect you gave the jumper and the preparedness to do the TEAM thing was just a given. Through the decades we've had out fair share of hard nuts. We've had our champions and a lot of hard-workers . Not all so talented but very few grifters. Success ...not so much. Even in the dourest of days the effort was honest. But if one of ours was felled... look out. FF to now...yeah ....not so much Back when we were DEMONS .. NO ONE....and i mean NO ONE would have shook Maynard's hand... the best he would have received would have been a non-idle reminder !! These other teams don't go away these days thinking we're a tad soft. Sadly they KNOW it.

You're right.... we're not quite at that but on course. Currently we're pitiful/lamentable/non-threatening None of this is in any shape or form.... enjoyable.
