  1. Doing much this weekend... ?? Like XXXX ?? Asking for a mate...
  2. Only managed the first half but some of those 'passes' would get a game in League lol
  3. Totally agree. . If he has some of Roo's devil may care he might be a very different player but all too often looks like a deer in headlights out there. Not all are at home on the big stage. He strikes me as one. Bit of a shame as he has ability. Not always enough.
  4. Bloody hell Red.... there ya go waffling on with common sense and reason. Seek help mate.... you'll come a cropper
  5. so just be Grateful....
  6. ... umm. .... both ?? 😆
  7. Trying now.... failing We should have changed it up in 22 because anyone with a modicum of intelligence would realise at least 2 things.. footy changes... and everyone will have worked us out and start coming up with different/ better. The game hasn't moved on NOW.. it ALWAYS is. We didn't. We're struggling
  8. Glimpses .... reminds me of "with bay views " translating to .. if you climb on the roof with a ladder you can just make out the water between the trees if you squint. I seriously think people think this game is harder and more complicated than it really is. We are not asking players to embark upon Mission Impossible like espionage excursions. It's footy. We just make it look hard
  9. You actually highlight the implied message though the answer may not necessarily be a 3 times flag winner. In the case of the Suns their trajectory was 'this tain not going ( well going nowhere of interest) " Then along came someone with a different approach and different style and has crafted a very different team out of essentially the same ( in the main ) list. There is the guts of a decent list at Melbourne, though there's some decent pruning that could be had. It's more about what one person envisions and builds as opposed another. I don't think anyone is suggesting SG can't coach but it certainly appears from my seat that he's exhausted what works, as he can create it. There has always been some interesting aspects to his approach. Some were cruelly erased the AFL and rules. Some are again effective but only as components of a game plan. An entire one that works well and consistently is absent. What once worked now doesn't. Perhaps it was only ever going to achieve success for a limited period and that's passed. Bit like fashion in a way.
  10. Really hurting the Suns eh Ppl need to get over this ridiculous supposition an AFL is some sort of social construct. It's a professional sporting BUSINESS. Local footy clubs are social entities. AFL is for those in big boys pants and if any and all can't abide by the expectations and rewards/redundancy that they demand then they're in the wrong business, or certainly the wrong level.
  11. Why not both.... and keep going ? Serious suggestion
  12. There is no way in the world a bottom eight finish is considered a pass. As it is we'll more than likely finish bottom 4. Two words ABJECT FAILURE You do NOT reward failure.
  13. [censored] that... pass mark was finals this year
  14. #playonhawthorn
  15. I agree. As mentioned earlier... Adhoc changes just cause calamity. I'm all for rotating personnel through roles ( esp if season is stuffed anyway... and imho.. it's belly up ) but do so in blocks. If nothing else is better for assessment. Results may vary but a better understanding of how well the individual coped, indeed how group setups and synchronicities fared is more likely
  16. Not directly.. comparing their development in terms of progress. Weed didn't develop much past where he got to in 3 seasons.. Roo has stagnated in a similar manner My point , or contention is has Roo already met his ceiling... as Weed did ?
  17. Really need that 🤔 back .. lol Good post 👍
  18. Some of us have been on these boards from this incarnation back through ....well.... back a hell of a long time... I.e a long time, far too long some might mischievously suggest lol. And they might be right. I took a sabatical ( for my own sanity. It may have aided others also 😆😆 ) We come here for various reasons, with our opinions and gripes. We ALL Demon tragic ( save a number of trolls..... we know who you are btw ) We all welcome the different views, experiences and perspectives. Yes it can be hard yakka at times especially when frustrations set in. I think the old sage advice of Nil desperandum carborundum always applies. ( don't let the bastards wear you down ) We all crave success for the club. I'm sure many in the club charged with providing that success think they are the ones to do so. However history can be a rather unbridled and indifferent teacher. Those that don't learn from it are doomed to repeat it. The club needs to look hard and dispassionately at where we sit currently and at what page of history is open. Decisions and choices need to be made, and made sooner rather than later lest the Groundhog visits. Go Dees
  19. My point re Weed was he was deemed as having potential when young ... but even with added years just didn't cut the mustard. Not all players do. Jeffo.. young , been in the system a number of years now and really hasn't taken the next step and possibly never will ( a la Weed ) Jeffo , for mine, and please there's no personal slight intended, this is just football related observations, is in that category of players who are too good really to play VFL but just not there either for AFL. 2nd tier role players can be sort of carried in a well performing team. He is neither in a 2nd tier role and we are far from a well performing team. That's my point in this regard.
  20. There's certainly an argument for giving players a block of games without too much regard for the ladder. He might suddenly click... he might not. I do agree with OD in so much as I just dont see the inkling that he will. Disco has something ....this guy doesn't. But that said chopping and changing ad hoc week out won't get us far. A more deliberate planned rotation might unearth a player .... or not. Not really going to matter much now for 25
  21. A win ( against the tide ) would do wonders. I don't know about you RIF but even in crappy games I like to see snippets of hope. Little signs things might not be too far off. I'm just not seeing many. It's a bit 2 steps forward ( Lindsay and Langford ) and 3 steps back.. Roo, Fritta... and you could pick the 3rd from half a dozen really :( Being competitive for 3 out of 4 qtrs.. what can you say. Was talking this game to b-i-l before . We have to be 4/5 goals up at 3 qtr time... or else. Many are saying Brisbane not as good as made out to be. Exactly the same muttering prior to last week. That went well 😞 You can only play the team that presents to you. Each side requires a slightly different approach. Conversely it seems anyone playing us knows EXACTLY how to beat us. I'm thinking there's a very simple ( Simon) reason for that ....
  22. I do kinda get the argument. I honestly don't think the validity of workloads is as great as being painted. You're just working as hard with lesser results. I will concede there may be more of a mental exhaustion effect as opposed a physical one. And that's not to be quickly dismissed imho. Becomes draining chasing your tail. I'm inclined personally to favour Occam's Razor.. and simply the inability to run out games is predominantly and simply fitness. Happy to be 'corrected' could it be shown otherwise.
  23. A most salient observation That was then, this is now. Now.... not so good
  24. Re age... Weed says hello . Point ..... age may not be the reason, talent ceiling might . Agree...it's currently at "might" He seems to have gone backwards... that said there's quite a few caught in a rip going the wrong way.
  25. I just don't how they're mutually dependent. Playing out a game is simply fitness.
