I likie the sentiment...but dont see it happening... They know theyhave two more...just two more games this year. They even matter of factly stated they are out to upset the top guns... Thats all they live for at the moment...some fleeting bragging rights.. Those last two games are on familiar territory for them. We will more more concerned about them than they are about us I imagine We better be on our toes..

That's right...in a game where there wasn't much service to the forwards......it was his defensive game that prevailed.

And yet strangely is WAS won right at those centre clearances. Goody at the 3/4 running interview said all but that...in a fashion. We WOULD have to come out and address x y and z ... At the risk of shocking some i dont blame Goody for those opening 5 mins... how could you... he wasn't out there... Those that were got Blitzed... and by the time we actually got our game going....the very one Simon suggested moments earlier thatvwe would have to implement... was all but too late. I'd be careful ( anyone ) suggesting we'll simply do better in finals than they. That WAS a finals intensity game.... theyve been ramping up to this.. tbh...we wax and wane .. When we blink others score. We won an earlier outting against Carlton by denying them their desired 50 entries.. that stymied them. They turned the tables on us and did just that.. A big difference though is many other teams have been playing and entrenching their forward craft..patterns built on non-bombing.. I reality were a bit late to the party with 'better' fwd footy. ...and it showed once they had THEIR wall up. And anyone thinking games arent about missing goals ??. Well then if the converse ...kicking goals is the ideal.... then logically missing them is a reason you lose.

I still dont quite understand ( in my own thinkings ) how Salo [censored] that up. It was a daisy kick.. mear and 3 veg all day any day....except righr then it seemed. Bizarre really I dont apportion our loss to that ...just find it rather odd....esp for a normally very good kick. Tbh... Carlton won....because they won the mental battle. Earlier this year we beat them by outmanoeuvring them... That was return of serve... game set and match. Smacked our bums in the 4th qtr opening.. lost the game right there....right at the moment Goodwin had only minutes earlier said Melbourne would need to do x,y and z in the last... Carlton made us look stupid. Learnings dont win a game...goals do We need more goals.. I maybe the odd one out... I thought May had his colours lowered. Voss worked us out...and properly. The run home is far more daunting now. Prior to this weekend I thought youd have to better both Us and the Filth to look at the flag. Dont look now...someone just did

This is the stupidity of it.. Theyre attempting to prove something that didnt happen. They can't show that it did. It's a nonsense situation. If you cant show it DID occur then logic dictates you must assume it DIDN'T. .. ergo....a Goal. The umpire by definition didn't know at the beginning...but somehow does at the end ??? This argument is not about the game or indeed the outcome per se... its about this particular event. Granted...it had ramifications. So what they are saying.... is ...they couldn't verify it WASN'T touched... which is a nonsense as the proof required was that is WAS.

That wont be the best of outcomes should that have transpired. Disappointed in the Shack.. another of those ..nqr for AFL ... He's not the answer ( i now realise and concede )

Missing the point..( or goal ) It was WRONG .. blatantly wrong. The process, adjudication ( or lack ) the protocol ( how it got decided ) All of that was WRONG. The Goal umpire shouldn't have been empowered in that instance to deliberate...and when he did...he [censored] up. There was possibly no greater decision (in the contexr of the game. Who made it ? The G.U. Yes he may well only be the bunny of the moment...but that he was. Im not expecting any change in the result. I think we should have won fair and square. That's all.

I'm more than happy to blame the goal umpire... that was a truly [censored] decision. Not all decisions cost games... that did . In some respects the better team won... but they shouldn't have.

It's just a bit of a suspicion but I think Grundy's been a tad 'Melburnised' He doesn't seem to play with the same dash and dare he did at the Filth. Its as though he's trying to do too much that's not quite him. E.g. coming through the guts he hand passes ( hospital varietal) when he should have eyed up an entry kick into the fifty..noy necessarily at someone but where they could run onto. Just one instance...but there were others. Always doing the seeming 'team' thing.. I want players to do the "best" thing...according to the moment. Am not slighting him as i feel he's constrained... jmo.

Interesting observations ( thanks re info...t.i.r. etc ) Yeah i think ...and it may well just be me.... this year was never going to be, nor intended, as the slam dunk of affairs re Grundy. I suspect next year.....another preseason.. more coaching... might be very illuminating. Meanwhile...back to this game. A lot of Carltons momentum...over season ( of late ) and in-game , has come from them getting some rhythm into their game. That also worked in their earlier outting against us....'til we changed the music. Took us a little while ( often does and that irks me ) but once their dance was upended they "worry" the ball.. They aren't overly superb at second effort rebound entries... they tend to cough it up. Once this starts happening a few times their patterns fall apart. Our game is built upin fwd 50 contesting. Theirs is about "process" to goal. Interupt that.. Carlton is on toast.

I would have thought this was the idea all along... obviously not...as here we are. Quite possibly the idea of Grundy doing a mini apprenticeship was to become a bit more savvy with "positioning".. now for mine Brodie is quite a good reader if the ball...that tends to be a strength of many rucks. This is his "force". He ought use it to either offer an alternative option.. so not crowd the pack and break from his direct opponent...or use that tie to draw that defender out. Clever ball play doesn't actually mean YOU have the ball... it's about space ( suddenly mind flashed back over 50 years lol ...some might get it) ... Clever ball play doesn't mean you're going for the ball ( directly ) Id like to see Brodie linger around the square. You'd like to think Milky.. Roo and Grundy could provide quite interesting options. Divide and conquer....keep out of each others way... and with Kozzie Chandler.. Nibbler and the like waiting to pounce we ought to have the better of them (Carlton ) Our defence just needs to spin repeat the last meeting with them. I dont underestimate Carlton.. mor do i over rate them. They go better against teams that are well... simply not us. Dees by 5 goals

If i remember the prior Blues game ..imho.. where they came unstuck was they were hampered once the got past the centre. Their 'next' kick invariably 'dried up' as all targets were covered.. this caused hesitation...and as we all know ....he who hesitates is lost... 😀
