  1. yep.. Sampi mised the boat. he is a potential injury worry and persoannly I think a bad risk and poor choice going forward. Im all for loading up with talls in teh Rookies list.. one or two ought to come good. Magic Maric just took Sampi's job !! We need to really look forward to where we will be in 09-10.. Defintiely pass on Sampi now.. get Kangars and a few others for sure !!
  2. Ive just about given up on this club having any promotinal skills what so ever. This despite our leader supposedly a guru in his industry. Honestly this club couldnt sell a hot dog to an eskimo !!! its all way to oback seat....all the time... always some conservativley placed crap. imagine if we had like a Branson tpe aboard this club ??? Then People would firstly KNOW who we are and what we're about...and god knows night even want to join the party what do we do...take theh F'n Demon away Excuse the french but I do wonder at times if our club has sh!t for brains when it comes to promotion !! we've got the potentially biggest brand in Footy.....you'd never know it would you. I applaud efforts to get China happening...but Mfc... lets get Australia and more particular Melbourne happening fisrt !!! FFS .we're supposed be be fearsome Demons ...not nancy pancy red/blue things !! The promotions dept must be run by a couple of granny's with left over cucumber sandwiches I reckon !!
  3. interesting. So given that most thought we we a definite top eight contender in not higher prior to the 07 season, and given that we have swept out all the dead wood and now have more miles in the legs of some younger bonefide talent. Add some genuine prospects better game plans together with more depth and increased coaching and support staff you place us no higher than 9 -10 !! hard man to please...lol
  4. well..to be a little different....for a change !! lol Most important Demon ? easy Dean Bailey !!! He will either get these guys going with new verve and vigour....or ....... His attitude and efforts will hopefully permeate down through the team
  5. Again Kangars for me. worth th epunt. We need a shut down defender...who can outrun most forwards. yes he's raw.. and a little underdone.. but isnt this why ya get then young and build them ? We must have depth in just about every position except FB at the moment !! Pick Kangars .. Im surprised to be honest that he's still there !!
  6. Ill answer it the old fashioned way..lol id rate it about an 8 of 10. really nothing to pick at...however I personally am still a tad concerned about the backline. We seem to have a gathering of sorts of 2nd and 3rd defenders.. but no real FB. !!! Some will say MacNamara might be this is the future.. So if I had any qualms about the Mfc result its that; ..otherwise kudos to CAC, , Connolly and the whole recruiting team.. a very good result. in old language id give them an "A"
  7. well ...what can I say....lol... but to the issue ...umm.. I agree that we wil be avery different kettle of fish next year.. I mean 07 was an abberation of sorts anyways but no so much it didnt disguise some major flaws. 1) a worrying real depth to some positions 2) a reluctance to bring on the newbies when it didnt really matter anyway. 3) an attachment to a style of play and persistence of some players in positions that reality just beggered disbelief !! Something of our effectiveness will be graded according to the true fitmess of out first string players and I suppose whether they come to play. On that last but I will give al the freeby of accrding them the category that they have indeed come to play. This we couldnt say for sure in the past !! I truly believe we are set up for an instant rebound but there are some teams with genuine merit.. and they will kep us out of the top 4 .. Happy to be wrong and YM right though !! edit: an afterthought Also what this means is we are there to really play finals footy and not just make up the numbers.
  8. Well we know the vast majority of our new players. We know who is staying. We know who ought to be coming back from injury. New coaches, new attitude and some new blood... where do YOU see teh Demons finishing in 2008 ? I for one reckon 5th or 6th hows about you
  9. My thinking is you would be inclined to look a bit further down the road with rookies and start plugging up holes with those you think might mature and grow into specific positions. If it works...all good.. it fit doesnt you go get some more. It more hit and miss really. Of course you can occasionally strike gold
  10. I wouldnt mind grabbing Kangars somewhee along the line. I like the idea of increasing our taller defender stocks. Its not like we'e exactly overflowing in thi sdept !!
  11. you dont rush to pick players that despite a talent have difficulty focussing on the game and difficluty maintaining fitness. Wish Sampi well. where ever the sherrin takes him.. happy to pick the blokes we did. Byron promised much ..and delivered very little on it, pardon me if I shy away from a repeat
  12. wil be interesting to see how Lovell uses him !!
  13. B) Well we now know the makeup of about 90 % of our players, and that list aint at all too shabby !!! Not perfect... far from the sieve some of us may have described the list not so many years back !! Now... Where do we put everyone ?? This qustion would be far easier answered in 09..when two things happen...1...we know more about those we just recruited in AFL terms...and 2 We know who will for what ever reason have played their last ( or likely last ) game for the Red and Blue . Given that not everyone is going to get a start in 08.. but also the predisposition already announced by the new chiefs that players will progress sooner rather than later ( as in past ) , who goes where ?? Im now going out.. I expect 10 good attempts when I get back..lol. seriously.. i've alredy given myself a headache thinking about this.. there are some fairly easy slots..and some with a few vying for the jumper. Oh happy days Roll on 2008 !!!!!!!!!!!
  14. I wonder if this guy was in the back of CAC's Bailey's minds when Jonno got the march ? Looking forward to seeing this guy in action :) A bit of class and "solid thinker " . He ought to address a prob we've had ...some sillyuse of ball.. This guy is EFFECTIVE with his disposals.. My prediction is he'll be in the leadership group in not too many years !! Welcome Cale
  15. he looks like likely type doesnt he. He will get oppo defences very nervous. he seems to play a litle taller than he is and has very good sense of using his body to advantage. Only possible deficit is he looks a tad one sided...doesnt like the left much. Will hurt other teams at stoppages.. gotta be good :)
  16. very well put... someone elses turn to get the lemons !!
  17. all good salient points.. lets hope huh !! For me this is the greatest problem with our lineup..we have no 1st class FB !!... Lets see maybe how the Mac at Back stacks !!
  18. possibly....the thinking is he will still add a few cm's and wil fill out as he adds days to his still young age. Maybe this is a good pick looking down the track.. is a bit light for a defender at moment..if to play as the tall.
  19. yep !! me too ... its still very much a gaping hole in the line up. Id likek to see as much effort put into thinking about stopping golas as there is kicking them !!
  20. the thing is we dont really want Davey swallowed up in the pocket.. he is better with room to run.. This WIZ ver2.0 could prove lively
  21. was the first thing that came to mind about his bloke too.. just maybe more team effort and less ego !! lol
  22. what I really thought we needed was a Dustin Fletcher type..
  23. just maybe we learned ( as a club ) the Byron lesson !!
  24. a sensible choice... gives a crack at the PSD
