If the Doggies decided to venture up the Hume and park in the west of Sydney...and play some games in Canberra as well as SCG they could do quite well. Canberra would love someone to make a longer term committment to playing there....even if not as a real home team

this actually where two teams may work better than one.. more interest.. a chance to barrack for someone other than Sydney. The westrern burbs would much rather follow a non city team. Costa associaited with development etc would get better returns if two teams can benefit. I think a second team might work well.. im not very certain about a third though...would have to watch ...and see how the second went. Ina way off future I could see 3 working in Qld actually as the pop base will outstrip vic in about 25 years...and Q is very Footy receptive.

The Sainters need to develop their domain.. The South/ South East of Melb and all of Gippo could be theres to cal home... they could sponsor events.. clinics.. a plethora of activities etc... build the base. build th enmae.. get some scoreboard success.. and instill some less rabid/egostical style business acumen and they'l lbe ok. ( hopefully )

youd have to be fair and give any second sydeney team a 10 year window before contemplating a third. it would be a very much a watch and go situation.

StKilda has no real history of stability...( anyone who knows this club would agree ) this may be their achilles heel into the future. They ought to be successful...but they arent. Infighting will implode this club eventually... a shame. I like the Sainters. The Toiges missed their golden chance to develop in Tassie. Unless Tigerland tastes some sort of finals success they are more on the endangerd list long term than we are. But with a dud of a coach.. and borderline infighting.. ( just smoulders at the blame level at moment ) they arent really travelling that rosey

there is something about al this that really pleases me and genuinely convinces me that this club has finally "GOT IT !! " In the process of slecting a coach it ( MFC ) obviously saw much talent and upside in a number of the interviewees. Did we just say thanks.. seeya later. NO...where possible it has harvested this enthusiasm and obvious talent and molded a Coaching TEAM This is clever. it could have very easily gone al lpear shaped but No, the powers that be have convinced these talented and knowlwdgable folk to hang around. To be part of it...even if not quite in a manner they originally perceived. Its THIS that pleases me. Its a clever forward thinking outfit that can do this. When can we genuinely have thoughtthis of our beloved club ? Not for a long long while I'll tell you !! we now have a developmental side to the buisness.. something only half baked attempted in past. We have a lot LOT more real intel on other footy environs... and they are very successful ones !! what a coup !!. No matter how pretty the house , if your foundations are crook it wil tumble down. But build sturdy footings and you can do whatever you want.. this is where I now see MFC... We have good foundations.. and some pretty fair building materials on site. lets get cracking !!!

I have never figured out why the Sainter havent gone full bore on developing the peninsula identity...and in that the domain of anythig south of the Yarra ought to eb their focus on building the brand...but of course its StKilda...masters of self immolation and other bewildering idiosyncracies !! Carlton arent going anywhere ( shame..lol ) North...to go North Geelong...force uto selves in that part of world.. they are safe. Hawks to continue devlopment of dual personality team..vic/tassie Bulldgos ought to start scouting for somewhere along the Great Western Road ( syd..lol ) Toiges....they have a home..... its called the bottom of the ladder !!!! heheheh...onya toiges !! I am one who's thinking is there is strength in synergy...and in this instance a second team intot he Sydney and Brisbane markets will actually help bolster the presence of the code...not dilute it. yes I know circumstance always vary with how teams suffer their demise , but Kangas are on a similar path. They are a very poor cousin in the Melbourne family..and having ditched any refernce to Melb they all but sealed their fate i feel. ( or had tremendous foresight !! lol ) North ARE a basket case at present. Im not sure if they have a another sponsor again yet. Mazda still there.. Primus gone. Supporter base isnt terrif.. I know I know..nor ours..but we have new strategies and affiliations for cross marketing. The kanga breed is dying down here.. I think the simple facts are... the AFl will give them whatever they want if they play cagey, to go North..theywill get sfa if they persist in staying !! It wont end up an Einstien equation as to what happens in end !!!

the club certainly has a 1000% improvement on insight into the Perth and Adelaide footy worlds now !! expect this will pay off in a number of ways !!

there was resistance for Fitzroy to end up north there was resistance for Swannies to go north !! guess where both are ?? lol my money is with the AFL onthis.. North will play out of GC in 3 years !! its what AFL wants... they have a habit of winning thses things !!

Kangas going North actually is good for MFC.... one less to share the Melbourne pie. I have the feeling that this is the long term goal of the afl.. to reduce the number of melbourne based teams this enusres surivial of those left.. Next stop doggies to parramatta !! lol

well the club logo i suppose is the new bland thingy... but as a graphic on a jumper...what more do we need than a Demon ??...It aint broke...why fix it ?? lol its just an idea.. It cant clash.. its still us.. It s immediately recognisable as Melbourne.. in the old language it ticks all the boxes.. so obviously is far too logical !!! lol I suppose you could modify it further..

as an away strip i have no problems with becoming more imaginative. Our home team strip is sacrosanct.. but the away /clash can offer up opportunities. Not advocating selling out to M and M lol.. Other codes embrace this ...we are very stuck in the mud at times.

Its sort of interesitng how over the years some teams have cut the umbilcal cords to their natural home with generic stle changes of names.. WE HAVENT, never will !!. Melbourne has never had the numbers of other clubs..its only some real success thats been lacking.. Thats about to change. The more initiatives are followed in the light of brandig this team...such as overseas exposre and similar lateral thinkings the more we will be concreted to this city. I am fully confident we are never going anywhere....ever !!....except possibly up !!

As a an article pertaining to other clubs.. I concur. we however are the MELBOURNE DEMONS. By our very moncker we could not exist anywhere else. It may seem glib..and soe say naieve.. but its simply inconceivable that we would exist anywhere else other than MELBOURNE. You could no more move the Melbourne Cricket Ground or the Yarra... we are that much a part of the fabric of this fair city that an AFL without a team called Melbourne is just plain fanciful !! We started it...we aint going no where !!!!

since the question is simply when will we ake the finals..that only supposes a finish in the top 8. Thats feasible. we were not truly a bottom 8 team this year. We will make the finals in 08...... as to how far....well thats a whole different question

well to be honest Im not sure exactly what sort of draw would satisfy some folk !! lol... It's an imperfect world...dont expect perfection. Simple as that. I personally think its a better draw than last year, but thtey all have their plusses and minuses. Depending on thestrengths or weakenesses of certain teams it may turn out a marvelous draw...or a hard one. FFS forget what eddiewood gets...it you expend all your efforts on them you'll never enjoy anything. As we become more successful and interesting we'll also enjoy some of the fruits off of this tree. Absolutely no point grumbling about it...it wont change for the moment!! Am as perplexed as any re Tioges / Dees match at cr@p-dome.. nothing the AFL is saying really holds water..all spin. Its disappointing. If we a re a decent team...we will use what ever the fixture has to offer. Lets not start blaming the fixture already...thats OLD Melbourne thinking ... we're better than that...well we NEED to be better than that!! All in all...pretty happy with it.. Could have been far far worse.
