I doubt very much that Chops is on anything like that.....maybe half of that at best..and seriously doubt that also. He hasnt been ( ever) on the same shelf as the Bruces, Yzes, Whites, Robbos etc
-
whats the chances he'll the Garry Lyon talking to !! :D Same rubbish with Robbo last year...if only a year !! Still he's free to look for the best deal, he owes that to himself.
-
I'll juist have to live with that ..lol I hear its pretty tough geting a gig down at Corio.. and Im not sure who you would displace at Hawthorn..but thats your stance..thats fine Brad's a very good player..in a very very VERY average team. He's not Tier 1 for mine..those two teams are !!
-
Deanox highlights the aspect thats the dilemma for the MGC footy dept.. What is Brads real value, both to us as an established talented player who has the repsect of the team etc...also what is his value on the 'market' ? He's what..27.. be 28 start of next season. He's pretty fit and afaik free of major injuries. Brad is a very handy player if not quite tier 1. He could easily get a game with most teams bar Geelong and probably Hawthorn. teams such as StKilda , Adelaide Sydney and the Doggies could probably find him more than useful over the next couple of years as they have a tilt. Thats the crux of the matter isnt it.. Other teams wil be havinga look through the window...and we wont !! So what added currency does he carry wtih these teasm for 2-3 years as compared to us ? We might be seriously competitive in 4-5 years but Brad WONT be !! So is this indeed where we box clever..and do something very un Melb and cash in that currency NOW.. and invest it into some others who will be hitting their straps in 4-5 ?? Of course it all hinges on what is ofered etc...but I would be very open to "listening' to other clubs right now !!
-
That might be a reasaonable direction to put him. He does ok to initiate the rebounds..just comes undone in the linking. many will suggest thats the result of the extra attention...but if that IS the result of the extra attention it does us no good to have that as the effect. he needs to refind ..."something"
-
I realise I am tempting derision..but as good as Jones is..in effort and heart.. Im not now convinced he's 100% there..or wll be.. A good servicable player without that extra..whatever !! A good second up midfielder..but not top shelf. We need to be realistic..

sorry....just couldnt help myself

Hawthorn vs that other Red, WHITE & Blue AFL club
beelzebub replied to Tigers Dayz's topic in Melbourne Demons
The Pups were well and truly shown up last night. The Sqawkers were a level above them. The poor ol Scragers were left to look very awkward .. Defintely a Dog dag evening !! I cant see them regrouping into much more than they have accomplished this year. This is finals now.. its different. -
Well ..not quite..but also..lol I would think that any team is going to be weakend to some degree with no acces to AFL players. Adittedly...its is us..so maybe yore quite right !! lol I do consider the Zebs are in a different part of the footy cycle now...if its a clock..its past noon Would have been Herculian to remain at the pinancle any longer than they did.
-
Sorry..I dont understand ths at all

Its been on the cards for some time that the rail will push out to Casey. Some studies are looking into a Tooradin push at some stage. Its all a question of when isnt it. who knows how desperate the pollies are geting ..lol. Rail is the obvious answer to a major leg up for transport requirements to the venue. That, buses and carpark extensions /refurbishing ought to cater to the projections ( as exist)
-
I wish the Zebbies well.. but I think their little run is coming to an end for some time. Will be weakend with NO Dee players in finals. Ought to be passingly interesting to see how they fare next year with the Sainters as feed. Same can be aid for Scorps really ( assuming we align )
-
Keep in mind... a clash jumper..is for a clash.. we have this little jumper.. may have seen. Is mainly BLUE.. I would envisage we will wear that one against the nothings. The GC ..admittedly only from the mascot.. seems more predominantly yellow. if the scenario was as below...we wont be wearing a red clash jumper.. No need. Well I wouldnt think. admittedly..pure guesswork as to their jumper.. but you can see the point.

yes..but that was before..... Pajamagate !!!!

Intersting read..I think Not sure if anyones read this.. but I thought it an intersting and balanced look at what confronts this bunch of No-names !!
-
I took a different read to that.(article) Originally at beginning of year it was forecast that we may indeed end the year with a modest 500000 to Im in the bank. This has gone totally belly up and we look to lose a million instead. The differential is still the same 2M thats constantly bandied around. The confusion in all this I feel eminates from number some use direct from projections and others which simply come from the ledger. Any which way ...we're losing money this year ( amount to be announced at AGM, one supposes) . The Debt Demolition must help with it all and better the interest payments if nothing else.

A lot of talk seems centred around the notion that we have no real talent what so ever !! I find this amazing really. Success and talent though bedfellows arent necessarily related ( that all sounds so wrong..and isnt a cue for discussion about a Tassie team.. ) As RR alludes..the seeds of our demise were not particulalry about our slections at the draft and trade table but more about the storms and unsettling climate of indifference that beleagured our club. The old guard is all but gone now...some wil see this as lamentable..personally Im excited as a result. These kids really have to step up..and there will always be those that seize such an opportunity. Does expansion threaten picks?? Probably does...this is the case for everyone surely. Is this a set back for us in particular ? I dont see why..not unless all we ever aim to achieve is teh first pick each year..that and bonus lolllies for being totally inept. I'm fairly certtain the Football dept arent focussing on the "rewards" of failure..more the path to success.
-
Nash...with out possibly the tenet of that..Im inclined to agree My interest in the Zebbies died the min they jumped into bed with undue haste with StKilda..talk about not letting the sheets get cold !! I dont wish Sandy anything othr than good luck in the finals....but Ive got no interest in them at all now..and I used to watch them as a youngen. To be brutally honest....two words come to mind..... GO SCORPS !!! :D
-
very probably...but it does become a very handy tool of leverage for the AFL...no ?
-
If Martin gets the time..Im sure he'll respond to those he can. Not suggesting for a moment anyone has..but its always good form to keep a respectful and civil tone in any correspondence with the club..its not amongst us after all.. Dont take it as a slight there HT..if you sent him something..Im sure he read it
-
Buckley needs conditioning only Id think. Hes quite a strong lad.
-
I think MC migh tbe rationing responses to me...lol I have the notion the club might be plesantly ( if ) surpised at the interest taken in this matter .
-
Fellow scribes Just wondering if any info on this years AGM is available. .Venue, Date, Time etc ? either ive lost the communique..or there hasnt been one yet. cheers
-
I would always give a player some finals exp over worrying about a few weeks of traiing !!

Very disappointing for the Melbourne players concerned. Be interested to know the REAL reason. maybe its insurance as suggested.. but with al due respect..that specualtion at the moment.) i.e why suddently an issue ? ) Interested to know what actually transpired.
