well Mousey you may have actually created the argument to your own conclusion As your highlighted players ( and accompaniments ) suggest there IS actually something to take from "those" games. Good players.or rather possibly better than good players will make something out of nothing. Im positive in my belief that despite the obvious motives for the 'experimetnations" Bailey will have genuinely been watching for glimpses of anything that players might be able to show under such dire and convoluted circumstances... a bit like ..when the going gets rough , those with stuff get going

there isnt much point having a forward line without a delivery system. we need quality midfielders who put teh footy where it needs to be.. In the arms of forwards on a lead. No point getting Butcher if you dont intend to keep him. Better to pick players who will give 10 years etc for the red and Blue. This isnt a throw away draft year.

Melbourne vs. North @ Etihad Stadium Crowd Prediction

Melb v Roos crowd 16594 -
Well barring the end of the world and other such minor impediments we are all but now assured of not only the PriorityPick which we so need but also the likelyhood we will follow pick one with pick 2. we also of course have ( or ought to ) pick one in the other drafts. This as we all know is the last time this will happen as we know it. GC looms.. West Sydney may of may not get of theground and either way the draft as we all have come to love it ( ) is coming to a close. There is not a shred of doubt in my mind that Dean Bailey has piloted his ship through not one but an achipelego of reefs and amazingly sailed out the other side intact. In the same frame of thinking we now are in clearer waters and and face less turbellent weather. Can we now put the tank back in the armory and bring back some real 'guns' and play properly ? Two questions arise from this. One, do we actually have any guns ( fit ) and can we ( i.e actually know how to ) play real football in a genuinely competitive manner ? Im not really sure about the first question , yes we have some real talent but is it 100% fit to go . To the second I would suggest we can. Much to do about footy is in your approach and belief. No matter what any pundits offer players dont live in a vacuum. They will have been affected by the little song and dance we have had to perform but similalry they ought to know that the gloves can now come off. Season 2010 will in my estimation go down as the year that the Dees arrived. We will play and we will surprise. A huge climb may now effect but all and sundry will will know and see a truly competitive outfit forming. But who will they be. Without doubt some have already stamped their claim on jumpers but some ( players) are either at doors of careers or crossroads. Some will simply take a bow and join th ehistory of our club. In this vein some need to prove a thing or two and its only fair that todo this in any meaningful maner that it must be allowed to happen within the framework of 'fair dinkum' footy I think it wouldnt do any harm for this band of Demons to taste some real satisfaction , hell even a real win as we conclude season '09. We can now probably afford to begin 2010 now. Time to restore some pride to the MFC

some seem to think that eve those of us content to see us exploit a system not of our doing take some sort of macabre glee in watching us lose.. i dont particulalrly.... but its all in context.i.e today, last week... most of rest of yeasr siimply doesnt matter in the long term going forwards other than what it can deliver in terms of positives..( and picks ) it sickens me that we have to play this game...but play it and win it we must..THATS important...not meaningless junk time heroics!!
-
OMG....OMG !!! the sky is falling..the sky is falling.. we are rubbish.. we are crap.. we wont ever ever win again.. .. hilarious stuff North needed a win...wanted to win. Dees couldnt afford to win and didnt win.. its about as simple at that you numbskulls ( that being those that simply cant see forrrests for trees !! ) Get over it.. 09 is a dead rubber...looks like we might have just shored up Scully. need to shore up pick 2 now...then we can get down and serious. Kiddies..its all play acting.. this isnt real MFC footy you realise It needs to all be viewed in the perspective of the greater picture of the greater good for the Dees. Kudos to bailey...surely a starter with Mensa :D Bails might even let them play properly next week.. if enough recoup from "injuries" the sky isnt falling.... all is well..

so if youre on top of the ladder...its list management...and if youre on the bottom its tanking... so glad thats cleared up for me now

Sunshine..if you wish to make it personal ..go for it..however I doubt you have the ammunition.. You stil havent got it..and I seriously see now youre incapable of doing so. Otherwise as you suggest that you would defend it.. Actualy here we rather people debate and argue things on their merits and provide substance to their views.. not just suggesting intellctual vacuums !! Im am still surprised and justa little concerned with Sylvias call up. It would make far more sense next week whenwe do expect to win, and more the point canafford to. This week we cant. He IS playing well as you point toand thats the inherent problem, i.e he will add too much spark to thisw outpfit at a juncture when we dont need to have too much. Warnock out will hopefully compensate for Sylvia in......hopefully !!
-
nupp ..you dont... youre still thinking in a week by week /this year mode. Playing out the rest of the year has to done with care and candour...and all players must do whats right for the right outcome. Simple as that
-
very possibly right.. I think Brad shouldbe able to hold his position, if fit for definitely 2-3 and possibly 4 years . Beyond 4 years.. I agree probably not. If we are in that enviable "window" where it really looks like we could have a crack thenhis ( Green ) maturity and calm might be just whats needed. After all......we know only too well GF's are anentirely different game
-
I suppose its entirley dependent onwhen youthink we will 'tilt' but I would definitely still consider Green to be an integral part of a challenging team. His class and poise wold see him well suited to a cruisey wing type role especiallyif hes released from other duties by a beter supporting midfield outfit. ffs hes one of the better kicks we have and seldomreallystufs up his decision making. For mine hes a keeper til he retires in about 4 years

youre not quite getting it I think...
-
in all seriousness... as much as can be garnered in such circumstances I am inlclined to think it will be possible Sylvia and Petterd to miss out. If you include Col this wek youd have to in all reality have him in next week too. Ricky -starting to show some form again... cant have that either. Yep this all sux to the max doesnt it. Still , im looking forward to the draft and trade week and have my eyes firmly on 2010. All else in the meantime is an exercise in going through the motions. Folks...you have a simple choice..you can let it get to you and you end up with yor grundies in a twist and feeling bitter towwards this game/club etc ..or....you can embrace this farce for whatit is... A set of circumstances thrust upon us and not entirely in our control and one that we must make the bestfist of for our own good. Its a game within a game. So far.so good B)

id like to see Martin put into a 'roving' follwer type role..just to see if he can play smalland well below his knees.. would be invaluable knowledge going forward...ne c'est pas ?? Ayone else curious how Davey would go in the back pocket ?? No ?? lol I think everyone should have at least 5 mins in the ruck...then select the worst 9 to rotate through it next week !! I think the first quarter ought to be worked out alphabeticaly... Starting from the back poscket and workign around. Second quarter by age, third by birthdays and the final by their starsign !! if any of this unfortuantely comes close to requiring an after siren goal again then all players to be instructed to kick wrong footed and those that are just too damn good to be resticted to handballs only...except Cam as he will prove dilligent in the 'correct' disposal technique regardless Another interesting exercise would be to have OUR teamline up across the ground instead of up and down it..its al just experimentation after all folks
-
I would think that Bails will continue the exercise of moving some players into various positions to see what they can and cant do...mostl likely with a bias to leave them where they arent doing to well...just to be sure thats the case
-
In this day and age actually putting names to a postion ona team sheet is al but worthless. How they line up is totally at the coaches discretion prior to the bounce. Putting any faith in the published list as to how the team will play is a fruitless exercise. Once it meant something...now its a teamlist...if that !!

We are at long last in the box seat. There is no cracked windscreen and theres at least some petrol in the tank. We are building OUR own team with longevity in mind and serious september action on the radar in a few years time. We dont need to trade away our hard fought for prizes. They are for us and us alone. Picks one and two will be sacred. Scully is to be ours..simple as that #2 on the best next ( hopefully midfielder) and the second rounder on whomever. Its possible that this pick the round 2 pick , will be used in trade either stand alone or as part of one of those you beaut convoluted merry go round, music stops, kind of afair. Its highly possible, ne probable that those other teams will want to attempt a seduction in order to pry away our gold but it will be to no avail.

Its a hard call on COl really. Hes beocmes a victim of his own good intentions now. This is indeed a true test of his maturity . In not bringing him inthis week allows it as easier not to name him agaisnt freo then we are realy playing footy-chess arent we. If he can see that his good playing of recent is a threat to our longer term goals than he is to be truly thanked. PJ starting at Casey ? Hmm..well makes for an interesting game at the Dome !!. Sure going to be another fascinating game ( from a strategems/tactics point of view ) whilst unfortunately adding to the painof those that need weekly nourishment of the immediate win nature.

we need a higher order of depth...with stars on top !!
-
old..some just may never get it, some see this as too simplistic a picture. They dont get all the nuances etc..They would not listen, they're not listening still. · Perhaps they never will !!

yes with any luck we'll get lost in the mist !! or play that marvelous style of kicking diagonally from one flank to the other...worked a treat when wearing pyjamas against the Sainters last year... Hopefuly Beamer is allowed to 'recover'. I too would be very surprised if McNamara played...stil if he did it might limit rotations a bit.. thatd be a shame PJ will probably play out the year... its just a raffle as to what position hhehhe Stil a couple of days to go really..who knows what lurgies are ready to pounce ?? I still think North will be trying though..unlike those ratbags from out west next week
-
Shallow be the draft may be...but alas with the spectre that are the concessions for GC next year the value of anything this year rises dramatically ( again ,,another aspect to why our picks are so important ) . Other teams will ackowledge this too i feel sure and in so trading may become rather more intriguing I sense.

watched it up here in Maroochy on telly and it sounded...and it seem to be going as McMahon marker... heart was in mouth wondering whether it would be paid...phew !!!.. :D
