whilst they cant be delisted..they can be moved...i.e traded. So the notion is quite valid

Come on folks.. get behind the Warrior:) Goal of the year voting Its tempting to describe Jurrah as a freak, but rather he is just mercurially talented... and thank god he's a Demon !!! As the song goes, 'It's only just begun' and Bailey has alluded to as much that we really havent seen nothing yet !! If we ever wanted the "X" factor this wonder has Y and Z thrown in for good measure. 3blokes all over him , laying on the ground back to the goals and still snags a sausage !! simply amazing How good must it feel for players now knowing thatwhenthe ball gets downthe pointy end..that 'things can happen !!'
-
No ones going to trade out a first round pick... late 2nds(if trade right) and thirds a possibility.. Ist round picks are gold..no....platinum this year !!
-
I agree..not the time to lairise and risk a wobble, would be their undoing in the finals....and after all..they're coming..or some such sillyness !!
-
If anything gets him over the line...it will be this. Better user of ball than quite a few of his comrades As a link man he is better than many.
-
and to think ..effectively most teams have only one pick under 20 ( yes I know.. 2 other will..but most ) and we have 3 !!And its not a deep draft and thats what many are overlooking...just how significant the timing of all this is. Imsure its not lost on JS, CC, DB and the rest
-
exactly my thinking... just depends which way a few cards fall. I have a gut feeling this will be a much more active trade week this year, if so there are a fwe possibilities that a few lucky lads might stay put.If not, its just a numbers game
-
No, he simply didnt get the gig. Youd have to think his last real opportunity is Richmond
-
it will all come down to trade week..and team balance....unfortunately there are always 'victims'
-
whilst I understand the sentiments of keeping Robbo , he wont be. Better to get a new bunch of forwards learning to play together. The more they do then logically the better they become.

Scott to coach Roos In something of a surprise ( to me ) The Kangas have opted for Collingwood assistant coach and former Brisbane Lions premiership player Brad Scott. Might this make it easy now for Hardwick to take over at TiggyLand ? edit: this too Scott new Roos coach

and that may well happen, though I dont think the die is quite set in all minds within the FD. I think, if he gets thegames, that against Carlton and Sainters he wil get a real chance to step up ( or not ) Geez some days youd hate to be a selector and the decision making going into trade and draft weeks must be at times heart wrenching, but none the less decisions need to be made. In some respects the experimentation may well have been for real in so far as to garner who might fit where next year as the incomings are sure to require a bit of a rejig of the current list. Havings two real and fair dinkum goers ( inside mids ) releases others to roles possibly better suited and balanced to talents etc. I dont think Valenti is alone in the conundrum of...is there enough room, but he's certainly in the thick of it.

Harry.. youre right..if he was kicking straight then he probably wouldnt attract the comments he does now... But then hed only be a half way handy forward in aso -so team with no prospects. We ( MFC ) dont want to be a so-so team, we want to be great and the bar needs to be set higher and that goes for all positions on the ground and if we do that then simply improving his kicking to "aceptable" wont cut it either.. He fails consistantly at AFL level and shines at VFL level.. thats all that really has to be observed.. His level of capability isnt ( many feel) high enough to warrant inclusion going forward. Miller is 3 times handier than Newton on a ground.... just consider the weight of that !! Good forwards not only finish off the work given them , but they create some..and add to the power of the forward line. It just seems more often than no Juice is a liability up front at AFL level. We cant aford this.

The question of who you might delist is on one hand awkward and frought with inconvenient pitfalls and on teh other made easier when you consider who it is likely we are to bring on board. Possibly in other drafts where youto some degree are taking whats available ( no pun intended..lol ) this year it woulld seem we can all but lock in picks 1 and 2. On this basis the footy dept will know pretty much who they are taking now. There are standouts. if thee are the kind and calibre of players the FD are after then you realy only have to think who they will work with best. If as we all think ( well most) that is will be Scully and trengove ( in and under hard at it midfielders ) then who do they compliment...or vice versa who compliments them ? How many of what sort of any position or ilk do youkeep on your books accounting for the different ages/experience and the progression of teir respective developments. Valenti certainly did his cause no harm yesterday and has more often than not shown himself handy...but is there room ? thats the 64 dollar question isnt it. If we were looking to get KPP's with picks then probably Valenti's position would be more assured.. but thats not the case. He might be good insurance..do we have the space ?

for mine ..no player who cant kick a bal straight should ever be allowed near the forward 50..and really its debatable as to whther they should be allowed onthe field period . Its FOOTBALL... you ought to be able to kick the bloody thing...and at AFL level with conmensurate skill. Newton cant..I agree.. thats his self signing his own warrant no ??
-
JJC listen to Bailey...hes very selective and careful with his words. I think he knows what is required and how to do it. Wil be interesting to see who is or isnt or who becomes not available inthese last couple of weeks

As a kid I was extremely fortunate to have a few seesions with that legend PH ( wees and poos ) .. what he imparted WAS that its 99% in your head. You need to think goals through...even the quick snaps etc.. they have to be invented from your mind, even your audacity. You can either kick or you cant.. Some styles are a bit strange ..even Huddos wasnt perfect.. but he had the mind set. I carried that thinking all through my terribly mediocre career..lol. But the point is ..I dont think Newton has it. He doesnt "GET IT "..mind you hes not alone... many forwards dont. Thing is..we (I) really dont want players up the pointy end who dont know what they are doing.. it just squanders all the hard work the rest of the team do..doesnt it.
-
?? you reckon.. only 40 or so out.. only about a 40-45 angle..could see all the goal.. Not really a hard kick for a forward surely. He needed to calm down and compose himself and think through it.. he just rushed it.. pretty weak effort al things considered and what was on the line.. .. Bit harsh ?? thats their job !!
-
any vison of this ? apart form 2nd half highlights.. amazed its not up for goal of the week.. was mercurial. Yes Liam understands footy very well. If only all our players did
-
you simply have to ask what is best for the club. what rel purpose in allowing Robo ..or a couple of others ( who've called it a day ) to keep going when its really for them. They arent adding to chances or ability of a team that will hopefully challenge in 3-5 years are they ? NO !! You need games in legs..and those legs are the kids.
-
That doesnt detract from his efforts !! would think youd want a leader out there each game ? Others can easily emulate if they choose..few do. Whether he is captain or not...he leads.. thats a serious requirement I think

W R I T I N G vvvvvvvvvvv - W A L L-

youd have to be kidding...their only outing on the G befoe the finals... the last game before finals... and you think they have no incentive
-
One person alone has been consistently leading by example on the field. Well done Aaron
-
lol... some peple are obviously incapable of seeing beyond the nose on their face. The MFC ( for a change ) know only too well exactly whatis required to go forward. They know we need these top picks to bolster our list and set us up. Theyalso know the club, supporters and indeed players need a win to remind themsleves of whatthis is all about. And so we took a win when we could. And by that I mean ..against an oppostion we were clearly able to best ,and more importanltly really at a time we could afford to. Now the rest of the year wil play itself out. Carlton are playing to for a top 4 spot. StKilda need to restore that momentum going in to september. People ..do you really think we are going to win another two games... even if we really really try ?? I dont think so..not this year
