we have a bye in rnd 16
-
If any care to think about it then One of the delistings will have all but made itself. ( such is reality ) . respect given to to the lad concerned. There by we have two more positions to vacate. ( min ) This then leads to the spaghetti like nature of the numbers game. Its entirely likely maybe three more will seek a trade ( let alone us giving nudges) Do we then seek a pick in return as opposed player. This might well be the nature of the beast as the RD tries to amass a handful of numbers it can then somehow regurgitate into a less amount of better picks. Possibly one thats deferred til the following draft. With all the differentials presenting its not even remotely straightforward any more.

That is not what is said. nice try. The comment is of the notion that martin is still young and maturiing into a role that probably is still 2-3 seasons away from his prime. In that light he might truly warrant a latter ( if slightly ) pick but Im compensating for supply /demand . There are always far more backs and forwards on teh market than rucks
-
You know Old Dee im inclined to agree with this. I think this is the last opportunity we would get too to get a good market appraisal for Aaron. Id be sort of sad to see him go but at teh same time GWS or GC might offer a good barrow full of reddies. Having him off the books might afford some salary relief. You make a sound argument when highlighting the notion that much should be crafted and moulded ( team wise ) as to who will be there in 2014-2016. Hawks got rid of Everitt and many thought that silly..but in reality it was win win. Maybe Davey would fit a similar move ?

I think we went down the weak /shallow draft debate last year and the reality is the only certainty is that its COMPROMISED. How loaded in GWS's favour will depend on what shenanagans everyone gets up to in trade week and this encompasses the on-trading etc of priority picks currently held by the Great Whatevers. A reasonable rule of thumb for some i feel is whatever draft pick youd think youd like to imagine a player is worth in the various scenario modelling ...add about 10-15 . i.e If you think Player X worthy of a say late 2nd.....make it a mid 3rd and so on. Many make the ( somewhat understandandable) mistake of valuing a player in trade at where you think WE have them where in reality you will most likely get what teh OTHER team thinks is warranted. There are exceptions of course but many a players tyres are pumped prior to trading only to be deflated at the table !! Having said that Id put Morton at a late 1st round to mid 2nd Bate a late 2nd to mid 3rd Warnock...take what you can get Martin if they came looking ought to worth similar to Morton, on the basis ready made improving rucks arent thick on the ground just my views
-
Ive a few Saints buddies too.. didtn share your mates views though. Must have entered different gates at Linton perhaps...lol I wonder if they ever lined up Goddard at training
-
Not mentioned yet ( I think ) was the notion clubs might come shopping for Martin. Theres a bit of logic in that and something we ought to be mindful of....and am sure the club is. His value has climbed decidely this year. We wont be the only to have taken note.
-
I'll be curious to read other's views but I never recall Goodard being worried about a contest or getting in amongst it. he just wasnt as tuned a footballer back then as he is today. He was raw but had the goods and needed to 'click' I dont see Morton quite in this vein. he has some damn fine skills but he doesnt get into the game even as a raw Goddard did. i think the comparison whilst on the surface may be an attractive one on closer inspection has no grounds. Gooddard was always champing at teh bit. You had the idea that one day he was going to really take games( teams) on and tear them one.....and he does. Though having said that we all observe this year isnt quite last year. I just dont get that sense of urgency or immediacy about Cales game. far more laconical in approach somewhat tardy in application. Hes about 2/3 of a really good player but just dont think he has that other 1/3 in his bag of tricks. Trade him
-
Again youre obvious incapacity to grasp things in their context knows no bounds. Im not dead set against Bailey, Im not ocnvinced hes our man either. You however wont hear a word againsthim and seem oblivious to shortcomings of this coaching regime. Many see this even if you dont. Keep going.. ....hole deeper
-
Actually whilst Essendon has lost and won this year, they havent done it in the Yo Yo manner we have.. weve been up down up down all over the placce.. theres been a lot more consistency with the James' boys. Yeah..the Bulldogs did magnificently against GC ..ooh yeah.. real form there !! ( not ).. Again tAdelaide.. by a whopping 30 points...only a kick at 3/4 time...against them !! lol And ah.. Bulldogs have only won 3 ...thats 3 ...in a row.. lets not worry over actuality hey !! Not being able to win at Etihad is in all essence deplorable. There really ISNT anexcuse. Its not good saying..oh..its just because we cant. What sort of abject loser mentality is that. Its just another bloody football ground. Good teams will win anywhere. Good coaches figure out how to. Do you think Mick would wear that sort of rubbish. ?
-
oh youre a tiresome fool. Are you Baileys lovechild perhaps. Nothing hes done is wrong by you. Youre incapable of seeing forrests for trees Artie..or whomever What has Ess v Geelong got to do with us. WeOnly just beat Richmond and they were thumped this weekend. We Beat a Freo who notoriously dont travel to Melbourne well and were missiing Sandilands. The Bully Boys were all over teh padddock until they found us, same too for st kilda, Nth were vacilating , again til us. It was a good win against Essendon wtiihout a doubt. Go to the top of the strawman class But hey all things Bailey are shiny shiny arent they. I like seeing yuo trot out your rubbish.. makes for enjoyment in an otherwise bleak Melbourne Season really glad YOU have nothing to do with Melb appointments mate.. about as convincing as youre namesake. He was a wet rag too
-
Its probably realistic to suggest there would be inconsistencies from this team ( on paper) but the wild YO-Yo effect is pretty much beyond reasonable expectations. If a horse acted this way it would be swabbed !! Any team down on form must currently savour the chance to play us...just to play themselves back into form. You cant keep rolling out the old chestnut..."oh theyre kids" ..Strangely so are many other teams, so why are WE the competitions leading basketcase when it comes to inconsistancy ? Bailey's boys HAVE done some good things in recent weeks and some shockers. Surely the team doesnt suffer from mass short term memory loss. Do they forget how to play footy overnight ? Or are tehy being inconsitently instructed ? I was starting to think Dean mightactually have been onto something but I can se this is just the abberation from the norm..i.e all over the place. Still not convinced about this bloke but happy with efforts of 'some 'players despite it all.

Theres an element to al this that leaves a very distasteful tinge in my mouth and I refer to the ridiculously open flouting of any so called rules by GWS, and it must be doing it with some sort of infered support of the Vlad led Empire. The Doggies are looking like theyll lose Callan and to a deal being spruiked right before our eyes in seeming ccntravention of the "rules' There are no rules anymnore. The AFL is making this plain. They seek to do whatever by whatever. If there is really anythign to be learned by all of this is that the Melbourne Football Club must adopt some very "grey" pactices when developinig its "asusredness of remaining meaningful in the competition" Many lambast the Carlton practices, theri arrogance of pushing ahead for the Greater Carlton Good. The adpoting of "ambassadorial" roles to supercede the brown-bagging. We must do exactly the same. We have a network of people associated with this club from the Monied end of town. This must be used in any way which pushes available means of doing things "right" to the maximum If this club wants to retain the services of its 'star' brigade it will need to get inventive. Its not a case of flouting the rules... as its obvious there are none really anymore.
-
I concur.. all players need to earn the right to play. NO walk-ins. Especially after an extended injury break a player needs to be eased back. Davey's no exception. Maybe after a full recovery he'll feel more "inclined" to participate at hs prior levels
-
hmm....suddenly feel a bit old !! lol
-
YE of little faith ) Well done coaches box !
-
A little backbone you lot!! They've jumPed us but we' ll settle and take them. Coaches box has it's work cut out

When I grew up all games were played on a Saturday afternoon. The scoreboards all had their codes for all the other games and it was part of the days past-time tolisten to the 'trannie" and watch the scores progress at other grounds by seeking the keys to teams via your copy of the record. Thats all gone. Hardly a game is played on a Sat afternoon in Melbourne any more. My how this game has changed. And yet a small vestige may still exist and it will do so thi safternoon at the G. I speak of course of a Tradition game of rivals. Yes Melbourne and Richmond are rivals and it was born the day those interloping bastards took up residdency having moved "uptown" ( from across the lawn ). We need to remind these trespassers that this is OUR ground and we reign. We need to beat them. But also we need to re-establish this particular fixture back in the mindsets of all Melburnians, i.e Football on a Saturday at the G. Heres an opportunity to make this particualr event OURS. Happy to share teh day with Richmond and hope they enter into the spirit of this , now rare, event A good ol game of footy at the best place in town , the way it ought to be played. What say others ?
-
Havent you heard.....Richmond is the new Black !! Theyre the new up and comers !! weve done our dash with many being so up and down who can blame many. Damien's Darlings are the talk of the town Those who bet against us are truly playing Russian roulette

We can talk in warm fuzzy generalities or we can be brave enough to acknowledge realities. Whilst I find Aussie very entertaining and when on song dynamic, a little bit of the ol X there , overall he is just another player on the list. This list is developing and there is , for Aussie, a very real danger he wil simply be overtaken and made redundant. Time waits for no man they say. hes no different. I truly feel for the lad. Hes torn, hes unsettled and a littel bit all over the place and no fault of his own its just the cards thats been dealt to him. I empathise with his loss. It can and does weigh heavily. A reality of playing at the elite level that is AFL is that to do so , consistently , you need your head in the right place, your body fit and give 110%. If you dont , someone else will I think its most magnaminous of the clubn to afford him the offer of holding the door open but there will and must be some time limit on this.We arent a benevolent society were a football club. Yes one with a heart for sure but there are very real and commercial pragmanities that covert such generosities. Im sure his name wil remain on the list til seasons end at which time the club must ask for a commitment. I wish Aussie all the best whether it be in Red and Blue at Melbourne or at home amongst his family. Good luck mate

took too long..lol... all on same page.. Thanks Toiges !!!

Jordan McMahon says Hello !!
-
The bedazzled youngster is turning into quite the capable man , with a little bit of mongrel. He now well and truly believes he not only is capable of being out there but that he 'belongs" He's trusting in himself. Self belief accounts for so much in life and especially in a game where much is played between the ears. Hes probably still shy a good 5 kg but more muscle will come in time, stronger core strength will develop and he'll be quite the complete player. Hes not quite there but when he is hes going to take teams on and rip them apart.. Some where along the line hes going to rebuff some idiots' attention by ploughing them into the turf with a classic" dont argue " , get out of my way !! Thats the day he wil have truly arrived Well done Jack

I think youll find this sycophant was never really ON the wagon
