WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES
beelzebub replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not particularly one way or other here but i would observe that Dawes has had a rather lackluster year and id say he has no favour with Bucks. He does have a bit of upside should he come on song. You would have to think Brown and Neeld would know his real value here. Im not overly excited by Martin. Not sure he has a big enough pallette of tricks. Dawes aiding Clark...thats the 64 q. Hes not a class act CD.Nor is he a spud as some suggest. Hes just not achieving . Arent underachievers with some upside who CAN fulfill a role, bought at a good price the very essence of the moneyball thinking ? -
well put Red.Seems some have a strange set of values....and some have none really to speak of for what they do speak of has NO value !

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES

The only thing i can actually agree on is that in all probability Dawes is on the move. Re-signing Cloke and now adding The Glove ( they now have a pair of gloves lol ) means no room for CD. Id say they (filth) are more desperate to unload Dawes than we are to get him. Id place all valuations on that footing. Am a bit underwhelmed personally. -
but then we werent ever interested in Lynch were we ??

I suppose we may as well discuss the FA compo picks as the origin of this thread seems dead. Its ofter the way whereby people with a sniff want the whole cheese. The purpose o FA agency is to restore some right/determination to the individual as to their place of employ. Keep in ind this was borne out of the AFLPA. It was the players wanting to redress the lack of ( in their eyes) power in bargaining process especially later on in their careers. In many respects this really isnt about the clubs themselves though in order for it to proceed there had to be some form of compensation allocated, but its not really about the compensation its about players being able to negotiate and move in an unrestrained manner. Some might argue that the club already gets a form of relief in that they get salary cap back again. Thats true but its not really a compensation its more of a resulting situation , rather than by design The currency of compo is in effect quite weak and is effectively diluted before it hits the table. No one actually knows the formula for all of this and as been mentioned ( often now ) the actual pick is based upon the resultant loss to any club. i.e Losses - Gains. Obviously nett gains carry no compensation nor do they carry a penalty. Again it might be argued a pseudo penalty of sorts is the added burden to any club in their cap in order to accommodate the newly acquired FA's I have a suspicion there will be a weighting, a handicapping , in effect of any of these compo picks The League would need to be mindful of not diluting the value of existing picks, especially first round ones As such I reckon the highest any compo pick will get is to be tagged to the end of the first round and then allocated downwards there after As such I think even if our nett loss was Beamer and Rivers then we might get an end of rnd 2 as our solace. I can hear the howls now.,..lol

then again...too much fibre just gives one the sh!ts !! -
tis all a tad moot apparently as the club supposedly isnt interested in the Glove.

Really ??? You really think so ?He denigrates us at every opportunity. I cant remember teh last time he wrote anything balanced or remotely insightful about what were trying to do about our mailaise and our reconstruction into a winning club. No...hes purely inciteful these days,,,,,,, hardly supportive.

You know, if Feral had simply suggested teh low of 2012 was the passing of Jim Stynes i would have concured. But thats not what Shitzen is about these days. He and his little band of ferals, or is that feral band of littel men, seem to do nothig more that rake muck about the MFC. Its pathological, something happens other there >>>> to some other club and they all rein it back in and refocus it in some manner as beig some abject failure of the current incarnation of the Melbourne Football Club. Id dearly like to know if that sh!t stirrer is still a member. If he is Id love McLardy to take him aside, revoke his membership and ask him in no ambiguous manner to f*#k off and annoy some other club; we're tired of it.

Im not surprised at teh passing on Goodard, Cloke Tippet etc. They arent what we require. I am however suprised and a little annoyed if we havent looked seroiusly at Lynch. I suggest he's exactly what we need at this present juncture of development ; i,e anothe strong target to ably help Clark and provide some meaningful addition to the scoreboard. We DO need to taste some success. Q woulnd be a long term addition but a 2 year effort to help lift us off the bottom rungs wouldnt go astray. I agree with the suggestion that hopefully the war-chest isnt squandered. Im a bit concerned. its seldom in this game you get to claim all your goodies. To forego a shot at some seems folly. A littel bit of faith just melted for me -
I think its foolhardy not to look at any other sporting background. The ultimate success is always down to the indidual. Stynes is legendary as a gaelic football convert.. Pyke a recent foreign rugby player. How well they can learn the nuances of the game I feel comes down again to the individual and probably how early they can come to the game. Not all will succeed , such as Collingwoods recent foray into US recruiting, but that in itself ought not preclude from looking, indeed inviting various sportsmen from varying backgrounds into the. Theres a whole world out there.

I suspect Rivers will be swapping the Yarra for the Barwon.

Its a , now familar, cheap shot from an obliously bitter and past his date hack. The MFC took hige strides in the reformation of a club. This was always goinv to take some time to not only start taking effect but manifesting as results on the field. Feral Mike takes great pleasure in his warped reporting of events. He obviously has some personal gripe as his agenda surely indicates. What a sad pathetic impersonation of a man he has become.

Golly.sky falling again

keep in mind Carlton are after a primary forward first up...thats Tippet.. Lynch isnt a #1 forward. Carlton wanted Cloke... Tippet will do them fine.

stardate -171753.42269152726 Captain Archer reports a decaying radio broadcast of unspecified origin but believed to be that of relayed message sent from the once existant AFL headquarters timestamped to the era of the Republic of Oceania's reign pre that of the United Confederations. approx late 21st Century ( pre-stardate ) the message is deteriorated but the words "the investigation into tanking is ongoing " can be made out. According to Starfleet data this refers to an ancient enquiry that apparently led to no conclusion and was eventually given away as a waste of time and resources. Take us to Warp No 1 !!

From my perspective we have no problem but Moloney has one. If we are , as is likely, to have a dip in the well then the real value to us is the space and affordability of another player. Any net result or windfall from FA( comp pick ) isnt going to , in our case be that much anyway. Resultant pick was never going to be world shattering. Am not particulalry concerned. No one should be
