Like you I've been toiling over in my mind what would (as opposed to should ) get all this to happen. If as a starting point we assume the club wants both Pedo and Ray then it had in all likely hood assigned two picks to do this; the oft mentioned 49 and 63 or such. The stumbling point is Nths ignorance of the real market combined with desperately trying to get its own deal for Jacobs done. In simple terms Nth comes up short and wants US to ante up for their empty larder. I can't see the club falling for that but with the intriduction of a Martin or even Martin+Gysberts trades then we should get a pick somewhat higher but would you use that pick in itself to get Pedo across the line. It does work I suppose ; ray for 33 Pedo for 49 leaving us with 63 and 70 but down a player. The nett for that is ray, Pedersen +63 for the loss of 33,49 and Martin ! I'm not convinced that's value. We aren't likely to even use pick 70 on current tracking. I'm absolutely intrigued as to how this will,or won't, pan out -

Hell get the regulatory newbie buzz-cut -
An interesting start...Tiges and Roos. Depends if anyone takes the comp seriously but will be a good yard stick probably to how the team is gelling .

North are verging on desperate... Their trade etc hasnt accomplished a hell of a lot really. Just shufflings. They WANT Jacobs. or theyll be exposed in the ruck. Dont beleive anything about 2nd thoughts keeping Pedersen, hes still not THAT answer Dont blink Melbourne -
I agree the 24 looked very much the keeper.if this was essentially an aside to garnering Redersen and ray I wouldnt mind it so much. Trims the sails and reloads with a hit in the draft. I dont hink Neeld is that adverse to it either. In so much as hes seen what we have and might be happy to do a bit of spring cleaning. He'd already have plugged many a hole and gets to have a free shot at another quality kid. I actually quite like this scenario. Make it happen football gods !!

you might be quite correct that the thinking was as a result of some form of stroke !!

Prismall and a useless pick is just someones idea of having a lend of us.

Im curoius a bout this rumour of Brissies 24 for martin and gys. Its the pick 24...where does this fit into things.. thats seems mighty high for us to on trade, well considering whom we've been tracking . curious

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DAVID RODAN
beelzebub replied to Demon Head's topic in Melbourne Demons
The idea (whomevers) of Rodan as a specialist sub type player is quite interesting. He's no bunny, no spring chicken either but he's got a good footy brain. We're definitely thinkingoutside the box as a club these days. That's good -
Of the outstanding this is the deal I WOULD like to see happen. Ray will walk in a help straighten out the midfield from day 1. Pedo handy not necessary. Someone like Ray IS a needed addition? We need some experience .

This is the crux. Greed, or in another view, overreaching. North have only themselves to blame should this trade falter. They set their own bar essentially with the HMac deal. Pick 36. By any litmus or comparison of value Pedersen is a good round below that in trade parlance. We're not talking player ability or role value, just trade value.49 from us , if indeed true is magnanimous. In my thinking that's overs and feel in reality 63 or 70 is what it's worth. Sometimes you have to suffer and grin and bear it in order to move forward. So to do that maybe 49 is the magic pick? Rumors abound for trades involving Martin, and even Martin AND Gysberts for 33 and 24 respectively. Either of those picks is worth something far greater than Pedersen and is way above the bar values even set by North. North have backed themselves into a few corners with trades they want but seem to want others to pay for them. Brayshaw, there's a Mr Kerrigan on the line for you !!! -

I wouldn't mind him, I'm sure many would be happy for him to come across; but only for a realistic swap and for mine even 49 bordered on overs. Glad to see we too are realistic as a club and can play hard ball too. North are playing with themselves Still, I think it will still get done at trade ends knocking on the door. But to our terms or nothing. -
Boy wont the draft be a hoot!!! Pick 4...then home !! Lol

Sorry i started lol

In a fashion you might be contradicting yourself. I'll explain. You CAN lose potential.. After all potential is the level to that which you have no achieved ( in the context of players ) A players ability can be broken down into sheer physical ability and skillsets. if after an injury or series of injuries your physical ability isnt that which it might have been before then your potential will have dropped. Taking time to recover and get up to full speed is not necessarily tied or dependent upon the players potential. Conversely a players potential rarely increased. This is why some players , even seasoned ones when they return arent quite what they used to be and if theyre still developing they may now NEVER be what they might have been. It sounds convoluted but theres a simple and irrepressible logic to it.

been a lot of waffle on that chat though. All candy floss imho

Yes, will be very interesting to see the synergy of a fit Jamar and an 'able' midfield
