If the AFL have either the temerity or short-sightedness to punish us then i have the sense all hell will let loose. Once this is put to bed those traitors within the club ought be identified and espunged . Cards marked not welcome..EVER. who made you boss, or anyone for that matter as to what we see/saw as a priority at that time for the playing group.Seems youre in that group that seem to think the goal IS to win every week regardless. Do we particularly remember the path to success : the failures, the learning, the development ?? Ultimate success is a consequence of being prepared to LOSE even if thats not the ultimate objective. Is there some absolute regimen of how any club /team/ etc can or cant learn ? Surely the sufficient punishment for losing is losing itself. Im sure Thomas didnt relish in stuffing up and I bet he didnt think he was. He was just educating himself and arming himself with better knowledge and resources . Given the Authoritive body instructed and rewarded its constituents via a bizarre code of handouts then its surely incumbent upon them ( the AFL ) to wear the consequences of their actions. We cant have cheated, we only followed the guidelines given.

The essence of the whole debacle is the notion that the goal of any teams season is to win each and every game at what ever cost whether it be advantageous or detrimental to the clubs longer term or overall strategy of winning a flag at some juncture when its "window" peaks. Any competition will have events or fixtures that simply dont suit every competitor to go flat out at every opportunity. Footy is no different. if you arent at the point of jump off, yo dont suit up. Any event or sport requires you to pace. You "go" when it suits. Yo dnot do it to advantage every one else do you.

Actually you provide an argument whereby the AFL itself can be accused of draft tampering as its lopsided and biased fixture provides for an uneven attempt at true competition. Would or should they reinvent the level playing field then teams' position come end of season might well be different and as such result in a different draft order.Ultimately the AFL must carry the baby for all eventualities as its created and promoted the distortions. The DNA for any invention or experimentation by any club was in reality the creation of the AFL's meddling and mischievious antics at game control.

I can see what youre saying and in a perfect world id agree but we're dealing with some knobs who wont abide by reason , logic or common sense. Thye are agenda driven, a multiplicity thereof but some congruence of efforts.Theyre like scrub fires. These you need to step on..and step on until the fires tire. thanks rjay thats the essence. The AFL cant actually commit anyone to the sword as its a situation of their own doing and encouragement ( essentially ) They handed over guns and bullets and suggested you go "play"..

Trying not to be biased but I thought we did at least a B if not B+ given what we had, and what we were actually trying to accomplish. About the only thing we didnt do was get Ray. we pruned heavily and added some experience and integrity to our on field ability. Some may view it as all rather workmanlike in appearance but workers get jobs done. Really cant see how Richmonds period was better than ours. All somewhat subjective. proof will come with results

I totally agree BH.. Melbourne needs to come out and hit. Demand the accusers put up or shut up and be prepared for the defence from Hell.. They need to start attacking some of these crap journos and put them back in their box.

Ill clarify..they want to stagger where some of the ages and contracts fall. they dont want all starting finishing at the same times. By picking martin hell finish a year later than anyone from the draft this year its a kind of stockpiling. They ( GWS ) wont get the same look in next year to the draft etc.
