  1. Rance has signed up with Tigers - four year deal on pretty big coin from all reports. We were never a shot to land him, but it might rule Tiggas out of a chase for anyone else.
  2. velvet sledgehammer was taken as a priority pick - the equivalent of jesse hogan - as a 16 year old. was considered a super-rare talent. walker was a nsw academy selection from broken hill, i'm pretty sure?
  3. I know that Gus and Hulk, alongside Cripps, are the faves to win it, but I think Saad up at GC17 should be a shoo-in. He's having a ripping first season.
  4. Fair dinkum.
  5. what a disgusting state of affairs.
  6. Straight from the H-S that yarn. How did Warner get access to the report?
  7. Lumumba, Grimes, Garland, and Howe (who I think is far better value in defence than up forward) can all effectively play the same way - rebound half back flank turnover merchants. Once Salem comes back we need two of them at the most. We don't need all four. The first two are, I believe, under contract, Garland is an unrestricted free agent, whereas the latter is a potentially valuable commodity. If we get a pick tied to our second round pick for Garland, ripper. He's not worth a pick 20-25 I'd say, but it's hopefully what his value will be, and hopefully he'll get to be a chance to be a premiership player - he won't be around when / if we get to that level. If Howe was worth pick 7 last year from GWS, I struggle to see him being worth pick 7 this year. More like a second rounder or bundled with our second rounder to upgrade to an opposition's mid-first round.
  8. Once Mummy was out of it they capitulated.
  9. the likelihood is both clark and stanley won't play. they'll have blicavs with probably kersten probably offering a bit of support in the ruck (it was his role once stanley was crocked against port), with hawkins and walker as the kpp's up forward, given that it's likely both stanley and clark will miss. pedersen is gone - likely a broken wrist. dawes straight back in. riley doesn't impact the play and turns it over. michie turns it over. one of them will go. anb and stretch both looked a bit behind the pace of afl, i'd expect one of them will go. i was hoping newton might show some strength in the contest and tackling intensity at casey level, but from reports it sounds like he copped a nasty concussion, so i imagine will miss. i'd prefer matt jones and bail were nowhere near selection, but what other options are there? i don't think we need fitz against a smaller geelong forward line.
  10. he was good. his composure with the ball was more assured, his ability to create was better, and he started to find space in traffic - which was really exciting to watch, because once he's created his own space he, like watts, tends not to waste possession. unfortunately, his direct opponent - with a decade and around 200 games greater experience - sealed the match for the opposition. that'll happen. if he models his game on montagna we'll be happy.
  11. One of the worst games of football I've seen in the flesh. I've seen some almighty maulings over the last 8 years in particular, but it's pretty rare for, in perfect conditions, to see two shocking sides battling away to see who could stuff up the least.
  12. Super average sides battling away to see who can stuff up least and snatch the win.
  13. AFL is a bit quicker than VFL, hey ANB? Twice he's been caught now. Riewoldt is killing us. Two games in a row McDonald has been smashed.
  14. If someone could explain to me why when kicking in we go to the opposite pocket that our ruckman is in - y'know, the one that Longer is in - that'd be great. Dumb, dumb football.
  15. We are really looking super poor defensively. Not working back nearly hard enough.
  16. andrew moore another dominant performance for the port adelaide magpies. i hope we're into him in a big, big way.
  17. that should seal the carnival for vic country. when was the last time three talls were picked with the first three picks? schache, weitering and francis a very good chance in 2015.
  18. he who will not be named is having another very good game. now that he's about 7th midfielder down the ranks he's really starting to play well. the little so-and-so. gws should be miles up against the filth but they keep wasting opportunities.
  19. also doesn't help that a lot of top 10 prospects are out injured currently.
  20. jkh is another who is probably a natural 'midfielder' but at afl level he is more of a push-up 5 / 6 half-forward type. i imagine he'll get a run around in the vfl seniors next week, potentially at the expense of newton if he has hurt his hand? i'm still confident that jkh is going to be a quality afl-level player. he reads the play really well, just needs to stay involved when not in the contest.
  21. Fairly solid rumour floating around that Carlisle for Yarran is a goer.
  22. you could argue that at the start of the year next year: B: Jetta - Dunn - Garland HB: Howe - T. McDonald - Salem C: vandenBerg - N Jones - Vince HF: Watts - Dawes - Kent F: Frost - Hogan - Garlett Foll: Gawn - Tyson - Viney I/C: Trengove - Brayshaw - Petracca Sub: JKH is our best 22... (cross presumably having retired.) easily arguable that if not best 22, those injury list players would be in our top 25.
