  1. we're merging with caaaaaaaaaaarlton; there's no such thing that visy can't 'fix'! also, jake niall has published this: But the biggest question of all will be the future of the 18 clubs. Had this calamity happened before expansion, there wouldn't be a Gold Coast or Greater Western Sydney and it's unclear whether AFLW would exist either. A couple of Victorian clubs, too, would be in danger of disappearing or being relocated to Gold Coast/Tasmania. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/amid-the-afl-s-great-depression-who-takes-the-hit-20200326-p54e56.html
  2. and jack martin, for those who stressed about missing out on him... B: Jetta - May - Weitering HB: Docherty - Lever - Salem ? Walsh - Cripps - Langdon HF: Petracca - Curnow - Martin F: McKay - T Mac - Betts Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney I/c: Marchbank - Melksham - Petrevski-Seton - Pickett ?
  3. no, i don't think it's the best model, just the 'best model' that the afl might be look at
  4. because they weren't expecting covid-19 to cut a swathe thru the world economy?
  5. unfortunately it very well may be needed in an ideal world a 12 or 14 team national afl competition would be the ideal 'model' with 22 or 26 games - and doing away completely with the pre-season rubbish - allows everyone playing home and away sadly, those thinking that we'd be part of that need to think again 16 min quarters plus time on will be here to stay as well
  6. the prospect of clubs being forced to merge as a result of this crisis is real - the senior reporters are all running with that at the moment, so i personally would rather our senior personnel don't run with the 'we'll be okay' narrative of the likes of north, saints, and gc17 because, quite simply, you really can't be that confident
  7. giving the great jakovich a bad name
  8. He wanted ridiculous money that only Carlton was prepared to pay him
  9. Won’t work; too poor by foot and doesn’t run defensively
  10. That 50% pay cut is only til June
  11. i imagine it was a difficult circumstance to play in, but that doesn't exclude the lack of effort and basic skill execution, not to mention the complete lack of cohesive game plan and structure if the season ever resumes, it will be interesting to see how we come back - after a seemingly positive pre-season, that was a massive let-down we did play the team that is likely to be right in premiership contention on their home deck in warm and extrezzo unusual conditions but my goodness...we ain't good
  12. our players pick and choose when to run and when not to do so laziest club in the competition
  13. nothing has changed bog ordinary player, massive disappointment
  14. saints turn to resemble witch's hats in the third quarter
  15. north look terrible
  16. very similar in size and shape to fritsch, melksham tho? he's had a very good first tho for sure
  17. nah, he was a supercoach favourite for d8 spot cos he's a cheap def / mid dpp option starcevich from the bears replaced him for most by friday evening
  18. doesn't need to be; just needs to be 6 foot 11 and kick straight! they've still got treloar and stephenson to come back in, and unfortunately for them their langdon looks like injury might curtail his career pendlebury has been such a brilliant player for so long now hard not to see them in the top four along with tiggas, meth coke, and gw$ - that sort of win against a potential finals team gives them a juicy percentage boost to start the season too
  19. so far, i don't mind the lack of crowd noise; muting the dreadful commentary from the ch 7 crew would help raise enjoyment levels, but i'm enjoying hearing the 'sounds of the game' sans audience participation thought the dogs would be far, far better than that - they completely looked incapable of winning contested footy, not what i expected at all they're going to have to do well to recover their season - in what's already a truncated year that is likely to be further reduced, that's the sort of hammering you really can't afford to have grundy showed once again why he's the second best ruckman in the game; bad kicking is bad football
  20. Mr Bungle, FNM, Fantomas, Tomahawk, or warbling Italian opera version?
  21. The Burgess effect? https://www.portadelaidefc.com.au/news/579184
  22. dogs still can't perform outside
  23. slobbo has taken a look at gus https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/expert-opinion/mark-robinson/who-is-the-real-angus-brayshaw-the-2018-version-or-the-2019-version/news-story/bd91a2dc61495f2e97e789f0a8beaaee i'm not a particular fan of brayshaw - too sloppy in his disposal, jogs from contest to contest - but i'm hoping that he bounces back big time in 2020
  24. that's 6:40pm melbourne-time, i believe so 3:40pm perth time
  25. iT's TrAdiTiOn!!
