  1. i think we're doing some things well - attack on the ball, and the ball-carrier - and other things poorly - disposal, kicking to the 'right' spots, being the favourites of the maggots, etc.
  2. some seriously tough conditions - will be tough for anyone to mark it, let alone ol' iron fists.
  3. look at their age and experience profile and carlton should be there or thereabouts in terms of a spot in the 8. in truth, they're about the same as us - 2-3 games off - but in our favour is talent in youth as opposed to theirs in experience. what bolton has done brilliantly at is getting them super-organised and super-disciplined. we do it intermittently - which to be honest may be to be expected given the youth of the side. we're getting there and are more sustainable than them i feel. but the way bolton is getting the best out of their group is to be commended. meanwhile, peter wright looks a serious talent. only signed til the end of 2017. suitors will come thick and fast next year.
  4. interesting that barrett thinks he'll get picked up by another club. i personally have my doubts. the poor bugger is in the wrong age demographic for rebuilding sides, and not good enough for the good sides. it's such a shame what's happened to both grimes and trengove.
  5. what do you mean "he also stated the Bombers would get a 12 month ban about a week before CAS handed down the penalty" - i presume you mean the current 12 month ban and not a further one?
  6. either that or he requests a trade at the end of this season. optimists see: hogan is re-signing within the next 6 months! yay!! pessimists see: hogan will request a trade at the end of this season! tears!!
  7. Jesse Hogan says he hopes to make decision on his Melbourne future ‘sooner rather than later’ choice quote: “There’ll be a time where I’ll want to sign, or whatever the case may be, and that will hopefully be sooner rather than later,” Hogan told Fox Sports News’ AFL Tonight. “Hopefully over the next six months, or whenever it happens to come about, I can get it done.”
  8. Gee Michie has been a disappointment. Really expected him to be best 22 when he came over from Freo.
  9. The rule is that a team needs to use two first round picks in a four year period. In theory as we used two in 2015, we don't need to make another first round selection until 2019 if we so choose.
  10. naismith is a name that is being thrown around a lot. if we are to get him, i wonder what his cost would be. i have no idea why he'd come to us as opposed to a team that needs a starting ruckman - he doesn't strike me massively as someone who can also play forward. big blokes get so overrated...and then you hope they turn into zac smith, but at least he had runs on the board as an afl-level player. hibberd - 2016 second round pick 2016 second round pick from adelaide - anb prestia - 2017 first round and 2016 second round pick from anb trade naismith - 2017 second / third round pick possible best squad of 25? B: Neville Jetta - Tom McDonald - Sam Frost HB: Michael Hibberd - Oscar McDonald - Jake Melksham C: Bernie Vince - Nathan Jones - Dion Prestia HF: Christian Petracca - Jack Watts - Dean Kent F: Ben Kennedy - Jesse Hogan - Jeff Garlett Foll: Max Gawn - Dom Tyson - Jack Viney I/C: Christian Salem - Angus Brayshaw - Clayton Oliver - Jayden Hunt Emerg: Aaron vandenBerg - James Harmes - Sam Naismith meanwhile, strong talk that tom mitchell to hawks is going to be the news of the trade period...serious offer thrown his way
  11. I'm going to take a slightly opposing view - I think he's going to be a good player, not a great player. Hope I'm wrong. Looks like McLean and Trengove prior to their injury woes - hopefully a good 200-game foot soldier who'll have the occasional outstanding game but will never be consistently outstanding, if that makes sense. Needs to play consistently tho, something that McLean and Trengove were never able to do.
  12. If someone wants to offer it it's what he's worth. As they say, costs 20% more to bring a player in. Is T Mac worth $550-580k a year to us? Absolutely, in my book.
  13. still reckon we need this guy in our side if it can be done. he runs and spreads, provides defensive pressure, and kicks goals...when he's able to get on the field.
  14. the game was lost in the midfield. i still think we need more quality in there than another back flanker.
  15. pretty tough effort to cast 6 votes this week. 6 - viney 5 - vince 4 - tom mcdonald 3 - petracca 2 - gawn 1 - jetta gawn was beaten, again, by hickey, petracca was a cameo performance only, and jetta was well down on his usual expectation.
  16. Those most under pressure should be Grimes, Matt Jones, Kennedy, Garlett, White, vandenBerg and perhaps Wagner.
  17. It's sad what's happened to both he and Trengove. Neither of them look up to snuff as AFL level footballers.
  18. It's interesting - we look better with three tall forwards, but Dawes is a non-entity as that third tall. It's a conundrum!
  19. We really play dumb football. The lack of front and square positioning at contested situations has cost as least four or five goals.
