i can't quite understand the sense of victim persecution and character assassination going on in this thread she's reporting that, in all likelihood, all bar the most senior of the assistant coaches is gone at the end of the year, the head of footy will go, and that the board have thought about contingencies in the likelihood that they do make a cut in goodwin's contract as well that's a big story in itself, but she's also saying that - if he wasn't so busy - that a former player and head of the mcc would like a run at the presidency this is not her having a grudge; this is journalism it's hardly unexpected that the footy dept is going to undergo upheaval - we all want that, i think? - but the smith thing has been kicking around for years, so it's not like it's new news, but it's the sort of political machinations within football clubs that is caroline's bread and butter

board and admin doing their job over to the footy dept...
-
if we let jack go and sign williams as a free agent then there is no compo hopefully we've learned from the mistake of losing rivers as a free agent and then giving away any compo by signing byrnes as a free agent

i would presume if it's this public that discussions are a long way down the track

Geelong CEO Brian Cook has confirmed the Cats have spoken to Melbourne star Jack Viney’s manager, but insists he is one of a number of players the club has enquired about heading into the off-season. A Herald Sun report earlier in the week linked Geelong to Viney, who is a restricted free agent and out-of-contract with Melbourne at year’s end. Speaking on K-Rock, Cook confirmed an approach had taken place. “There’s truth in the fact we’ve spoken to his manager,” he said. “But gee whiz, our club has spoken to about 20 managers about whether there’s people available. It’s not as though we’ve picked him and said he is the one we want and away we go.”

ratkins is going to gc17 so forget him not sure how much room we can in our cap to entice the likes of williams in without shedding one - or more - of viney, brayshaw, and t mac in an ideal world we'd be adding at least two of williams, witherden, polec, cumming, narkle

i don't see either crouch as skilled or fast
-
can't see us getting close to gw$ regardless of how trash they've looked for the majority of this season god i hate that franchise
-
i only know a few - whereas it feels like every second person i know goes for the filth - but they just constantly rag on their players; castagna and rioli cop a lot of heat, as does jack riewoldt this year i tell them to just ENJOY being a powerhouse i think they're terrified they're not going to win and really cement their dynasty
-
they are really very, very good yet their supporters that i know still do nothing else but criticise sigh it must be so nice to go for a side that is genuinely GOOD
-
also, is bartlett any less melbourne than peggy is richmond? she moved to melbourne from overseas and adopted a local team; so did bartlett (if you consider wa another country, not another planet), except he had a bit of a football background every time i have heard him speak he sounds passionate about us
-
pretty much agree with everything you said as far as i can tell the board and admin are doing a stellar job footy dept needs to lift i do wonder, what is the investment in football in 2020 as opposed to 2017?

Great effort from the supporters, the members, the admin Footy dept letting the whole show down! They look great and good to hear all names are present and accounted for -
tigers are just so good should be triple premiership team but they got big cox'd in 2018 could get that third premiership this year
-
stuart dew is rated pretty highly and prefers others to wright, who has been fit all year and can't get a run in the gc17 side cos he's slow, timid, and doesn't work near hard enough
-
Nothing in there remotely surprised me Smith has been angling to be on the board for some time
-
if we jettison both then our inside mids will need a complete rebuild
