  1. goodwin now has a 99-1-70 record, so a 58.73% winning percentage those with more than 100 wins as a coach and a better record than him: leigh matthews - 58.79% david parkin - 58.89% phonse kyne - 59.46% john worrall - 59.86% ken hinkley - 60.08% jack dyer - 60.81% reg hickey - 61.02% norman clark - 61.21% mark thompson - 61.71% alan joyce - 61.84% allan jeans - 62.15% john longmire - 62.93% tom hafey - 64.75% frank hughes - 65.08% john nicholls - 66.06% dick reynolds - 66.99% chris scott - 68.5% that's some serious company
  2. six tackles, as many as any other player on the ground (viney), and four of them were i50
  3. no, i was at the game, so no interest in match day threads - i only go on those when i'm watching on the teev
  4. the hanrahan's will declare otherwise, of course
  5. yes, it's simply ghastly still being a top four side year in and year out
  6. Hope all the Hanrahan’s moaning pre game were happy with that performance
  7. No change if no injury Otherwise, it’s Jefferson for Petty
  8. 6: Gawn 5: McDonald 4: Salem 3: May 2: Petracca 1: Viney
  9. so judging by the stats at the start of the 3rd quarter kalani is yet to take to the field
  10. Yeah…toey
  11. They would require him to mention the oppo; this, unlikely
  12. tigs having a dip but peptides are a better side and will pull away as the game goes on, you'd expect
  13. no, jackson netted us the the picks that became jefferson and windsor; the latter is already a key member of our (possible) top 4 side in 2024 from a player personnel perspective, i'd say grundy was the replacement for jackson; grundy didn't suit our structure as he was unable to play anything other than as starting ruck / robbed gawn of his ability to be the #1 ruckman in the game; subsequently grundy was effectively replaced by fullarton - one vfl player in 2023 replacing one vfl player in 2024 - albeit at a salary cap saving of probably ~$400k per annum schache replaced weideman - one vfl player in 2022 replacing one vfl player in 2023
  14. not really - you said we 'let forward players go to other clubs, and replaced them with inferior talent' well, no, we didn't the only true forwards who've left us are hogan and bedford; we replaced them with may, sparrow, and pick 44, which was on-traded with our 2nd ruckman to bring in pick 13, 2023 first rounder, and 2023 second rounder even accounting for jackson as ostensibly being a forward, we got windsor for him, so... inferior talent? no
  15. i don't think you make any sense at all
  16. so yr referencing one player - a 2nd year skinny tall forward - as evidence that we replaced a host of players with inferior talent? may is better than all of those who have left, as evidenced by his all-australian selections and premiership player status
  17. alternatively, win tomorrow and we're back in the top 4 it's neither blue clouds nor rainshowers it's a long season tho...
  18. who? hogan; got may and sparrow instead bedford; we preferred chandler as a small pressure forward jackson; got jefferson and windsor when he wanted to go home
  19. would love to poach finn callaghan
  20. not necessarily mfc, but i imagine at some point the lure of home and a big contract will bring him back to melbourne the city star in the making
  21. not to mention the fact that his twin brothers will, if they're also talented, likely join him at the dees in future years i note with interest that jeff says those boys have elected NOT to join the gc17 academy
  22. also what people said about the dees 2007-2010
  23. if we finish top 4 this year it'll be four years in a row we're still there, thereabouts
  24. i for one loathe going for a side that has finished top 4 three years in a row for the first time in my lifetime and for the first time the club has done so since the 1960s
  25. the splooging over everything mac andrew does is going to annoy me for the next decade plus
