  1. he'd be excellent senior player depth to bring in
  2. north's backline make-up is interesting that combden is clearly going to be the #1 key defender going forward, corr has had a nice bit of kanga superannuation in his final years as an afl player, and luke mcdonald is a battler currently they're playing their future midfield - sheezel and wardlaw, plus mckercher when he's fit - down there how that helps develop their backline i do not know
  3. definitely no mfcss today because, quite frankly, we should be a significantly better side it would require something very strange happening for us to lose this one
  4. he'll take a guilty plea you'd imagine it'd start at 4 weeks
  5. whatwhat say what replied to rpfc's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
this is quite common these days, depending upon which industry you are in
  6. who took the kick-ins with tomlinson not playing?
  7. just get it done and get it over and done with
  8. dimma lost the first, what, 9 games of his coaching career? that worked out orright
  9. throwback to their colours from 1915-22
  10. bedford's field kicking has been diabolically bad
  11. harmes has been good for the dogs
  12. didn't see any of this game - but wanted to comment on this which was accidentally posted on another thread... based on amw's seasons as a forward previously, he didn't apply that requisite pressure at least as a running half-back he is routinely getting involved in overlap play i'm not convinced his skills are good enough for him to make it at afl level, but he's only just learning the role this season
  13. who? i've seen james jordon win a flag already...
  14. petty or plugger mac will need to ruck as required, i guess?
  15. couldn't agree more it will open up space on the field, but i wouldn't do it in conjunction with a reduced quarter length i would however make it so that you only play every team once in the home and away season; ironically that would be easier to achieve with the introduction of a 19th team and the necessity of a bye
  16. well, sort of if he didn't play well, he wouldn't hold his spot they offered him opportunity to cement it that we couldn't; chandler is a better player imo
  17. i'm almost certain attendance at games has minimal impact upon a club's bottom line it's tickets sold, corporate functions, sponsorship dollars, control of the gate, ownership of the hoardings... attendance? looks good in a press release
  18. seven actually you forgot about spargo in opening round
  19. i understand people wanting to 'bring players back via the vfl' but the history of this current football administration simply doesn't do it they've clearly made the determination that a 'best team' player is better off getting run through their legs at the highest level, not the lower i think you'll find that's more the norm for modern afl clubs than not so feel free to pine for that older mentality of 'bringing players back via the vfl' i would argue it simply doesn't happen in modern sport at the top level
  20. the biggest complaint from coaches is that it turns the game into 18 vs 17 on field a statue on field is a waste of a player hence why so many - which, again, bevo started, i think? - push back the 5m from the mark so that they're not really 'on the mark' but instead guarding space
  21. playing in darwin must be just exhausting
  22. and i of course mean maccadem, salam, and fallerton
  23. hopefully positive lingers is okay i think it'll be mcadam, salem, fullarton in
  24. i used to watch meth coke in the flesh every time they came to sin city to play the bloods; it was during their golden period of close contests (akin to ours with the baggers) cox was every bit as influential around the ground as max is, but in more of a ball-winning ability max's marking and leadership sets him apart for mine
  25. i'm convinced the '6-6-6 rule' was brought in to curtail the likes of goodwin who played two off the back of the square, double diamond wing set-ups, and all sorts of differentiated tactics to do different things with structure the 'stand rule' was a direct response to bevo's tactic of having players move off the mark before the umpire called play on i think there was another coach who had a player 'shepherd' the man on the mark to allow his teammate to play on as well? plus of course there was the 'ruck nomination' rule, which was to stop jordan lewis being third man up under clarko the worst one i think is the playing on from the goalsquare rule - players routinely run 30m out of the square; it's absurd
