  1. Not so random Dappa. We have a culture of 'he's a CHB or a CHF' a la Miller and there's no option. A lack of imagination has stifled this team for too long. Rivers is a great kick, loves a goal, takes a strong grab and finds space. A natural CHF. In the best of worlds a young Frawley or even Petterd could play CHB the way the Dorks are blooding players with an eye to the future. What have we got to lose?
  2. Stop [censored]-footing around. Miller is doing nothing at the moment. No place for him. The future forward line should include Bate, Dunny, (Newton if proven), Sylvia and Rivers. Miller's best and last chance will be being groomed as FF when Neitz retires. Other than that, he has no chance.
  3. Gee! Matty Bate had a good game. What a surprise. A top draft pick at under-age. Get off his case you morons who expect a blinder from him every time he steps onto the field. He's a genuine talent. Keep in mind: He's young, he's learning the game and he's getting used to playing against more experienced and mature bodies. We start dissing our young after a few poor games and we'll go backwards fast.
  4. The end is nigh for Clint. There's no way he'll be offered another contract. I'd much rather see Chip being played in the backline when he's fit as part of our sudden 'youth policy'. The Bizz has never recovered from his injury, no fault of his own, but you don't want to get that at the latter stage of your career. Time for new blood and a new broom.
  5. Another couple of sterling posts from Yze Not So Magic. Always good entertainment on a Saturday night after a good curry out. 'We have the two best young midfielders in the comp'. Simple question. Where's the evidence to date? 'The best young list'. I don't think so by any stretch. Again, where's your evidence? Currently the Lions, Hawks and Dogs, even the Dons, look better placed than us in this regard. I appreciate your blind optimism but a little reality check wouldn't go astray.
  6. The father/son rule (allowing for its revisions) is one of the continuities that makes our game what it is. It's part of our heritage, culture and expectations. It's luck of the draw, so be it. PS. I hope your boys are big strapping KPP's Gary.
  7. You're the gutless wonder Yze Not So Magic. The worst supporter/troll on this site I've ever come across. If you have a bi-polar disorder I apologise and can understand the erraticism of your posts (to an extent). Regardless, keep taking the medicine and level out. Your hysterical reactions are becoming very boring.
  8. One of the great stupid posts. Well done Boy, and 'boy' is the key word. Grow up. We're all disappointed with what's happened but what's the point of your post? Have you actually got anything constructive to say or do you simply want to see your name in lights and get responses from more informed posters than yourself. Until you make an observation worth considering your opinion is fool's gold and a waste of cyber space.
  9. Calls for ND's head before the season is over are naive in the extreme. One thing Paul Gardner and the board have tried to do, and successfully, is to bring some emotional and financial stability to a club that has a recent history of imploding when things go pear-shape. ND may well go at season's end. But that will only happen if the Board has done its homework and have identified someone else who could do a better job. There probably is, exactly who I wouldn't know right now, but there won't be a sudden rush of bloodletting by sacking the coach mid-season that will sink the club deeper in the mire. There is nothing surer than ND coaching the season out.
  10. And on his wrong foot! There's always a positive.
  11. You mentioned Brock already, my mistake.
  12. And Brock and Col and Jared not far away either given that scenario. Who knows? We might actually have a second half resurgence and carry it through with a succession of wins. Then again, starting from something like 2 out of 7/8/9 might make that immaterial. It's the next few weeks that count big time to state the obvious.
  13. Regardless of whether Sautner is on our list or not is not the most important point here. Sandy is a club in its own right, has its own constitution and makes its own decisions in its own best interests. There is no way the Sandy match committee would ever get a phone call from the MFC requesting a permanent position move a la Sautner so one of our listed players gets tried out in a position we might like to see him in. The relationship simply doesn't work this way. Sandy aren't our seconds which some seem to assume. The relationship between the two clubs is regarded as the best in the AFL/VFL. Bell, Bate, CJ etc etc cut their teeth and played against men at Sandy and benefited from it. Sandy isn't doing much wrong. Three flags in a row says it all.
  14. Who cares? We now have a diminished leadership group and not a lot to draw on. Regardless, Bruce is a cert to be El Capitain next Sunday. It's of little consequence anyway because if the mid-group of players don't stand up he's suddenly captain of the Titanic. And we know what happened to him.
  15. Here we go again. Another whinge, another whine from Yze Not So Magic, aka YNSM. Buy earlier you twerp and put extra dollars into our club pre-season and don't wait until the last minute. Is there nothing you don't have an urge to comment on? Tough [censored].
  16. Carn The Dees, it's Happy Hour! Every twit, unconsidered opinion gets aired post-game usually by relatively new posters or a few oldies (ie YNSM) with axes to grind. Ride with it and look for more thoughtful posts later on.
  17. 'PJ's 28 hit-outs' reads better than it was. Unfortunately he's not up to AFL standard at the moment and seems to be treading water since his injury against the Swans. He will not be part of our best potential premiership line-up unless he re-invents himself. He'll never be a key ruckman who is adaptable around the ground unless he imposes himself more on the contest which a man of his size should be able to do.
  18. This post is simply naive and dumb. A troll maybe? 'We know Neitz can be effective at full back'. Since when? Try CHB . And ever heard of Chip Frawley? Recruited specifically for the backline. Not to mention Rivers, Bell, Clint and CJ. Idiot.
  19. Col needs to grow a footy brain. He's got unproven potential but still plays like a kid in the U14's. Go for the speccy and show off a bit. He's got to learn to be a team player. I can just see it. Col and Fergy are playing for Sandy. Ball floats high towards the flank. Write your own script.
  20. It's already been changed. The new one is YNSM. Yze Not So Magic.
  21. For goodness sake. It's the 9 network! Eddie's baby. It's the dumbed down Footy Show. If you lot are naive enough to believe that Hay's Oprah grab was unpaid and unsolicited then you are dumber than I gave you credit for. Wise up to how the media works and manipulates. Bring on the footy.
  22. As an aside, does this mean we're friends again YNSM? Here's hoping for a big Friday night.
  23. Congratulations to Chris Johnson. A just reward for a great pre-season and a particularly good praccy match against the Tigers. He's going to be a regular and hopefully just as good as his dad
  24. Interesting discussion. My first reaction was that if you don't contribute in some way financially - either membership, merch, raffle tickets or having a beer at the Leighoak etc - then you can't call yourself a supporter. However, for what it's worth, the Penguin English Dictionary, (the Oxford's in the kitchen for some reason), has as its primary definition ' one who supports or maintains'. The secondary definition includes 'defender, partisan, adherent' which would cover all Demons fans. The other obversation is that I know a lapsed member and he's a Dees follower. God knows I've tried everything to get him to re-sign but no result yet. What he has done however, believe it or not, is to take some Mongolian post-grad students to a couple of Melbourne games last year. The result - they loved it, thought it was sensational. Two new Melbourne members for this year. The point is that while he's a lapsed member, he's actively promoted the club and deserves to be called a supporter. As someone pointed out, there's more than one way to support your club.
  25. I'd just like to thank Aquarius Dreamtime for being a sponsor of this site. Nothing comes free and AD has been a great supporter of the Dees and Demonland. If you had fish big enough to fry, I'd have been a great customer AD. Thanks for your support.
