  1. Only Keef and Mick left now who have played on every Rolling Stones album.
  2. Well we always wish for the best don't we. Premiership, Brownlow medal and Rising Star. Dare to dream.
  3. 1. Clayton Oliver 2. Ollie Wines 3. Marcus Bontempelli Melbourne.
  4. When it comes to repelling the Demons, there's only one word that matters - it's "exorcise". I'm pretty sure they're already well-exercised. But point taken...Petty will need to be on his game if that's the match-up.
  5. I haven't done the research, why bother, but I'd bet most teams have a particular player, (or two), who's happy to regularly milk a free kick if the situation presents. New AFL rule in the off-season - only one rubber ducker allowed per team.
  6. Thirteen years old, Bay 13, up against the wire fence just down from the bars in what is now the Southern stand. Equipped with torn up phone directories to toss in the air every time we scored. Great vantage point to watch Gabba's run and fumble. Froggy's goal came from nowhere, up went the paper! The rest is a red and blue haze.
  7. "I did mistakenly suggest that we hold AVDB back until the PF. Let him cut loose now if he's fit but within limits. Hit a few hard in the meantime. Have a few games. But save his best aggression for the GF if not suspended. Just like Essendon did to us." Earlier post from this year.
  8. When I first started listening to live radio broadcasts back on a Saturday arvo, the term "playing in the pivot" was still in currency. Those were the days when all VFL games were played on a Saturday and you could grab a freshly-printed Sporting Globe outside Richmond station on the way home.
  9. He led an interesting life, (to say the least).
  10. Whichever way you look at it, it was dumb football.
  11. Maybe, but we won't go deep into the Finals without him in the team.
  12. At a wild guess, I reckon this is a follow-up to the face palm post. Happy to oblige.
  13. The bleeding obvious question now is will Jack make it back into the team after his suspension?
  14. Sad news indeed. Still got his signature in my old autograph book and I loved watching him play. He always gave everything to the team and to every game he played.
  15. It'll be interesting to see which Carlton side turns up on the park tonight given this development.
  16. Well, when the coach says post-match "I'm not worried one bit" you can understand the concern.
  17. The classic line from Breaker Morant. "Shoot/kick straight you bastards".
  18. Passing shower, I'm ever the optimist. Slippery, not soaking. Hardest at the ball will win. And use your brains when going forward. Nothing fancy, a boot off the ground will do. As long as it's in our forward fifty most of the night.
  19. The BOM may have got its original forecast a bit wrong. There's rain a'coming for sure but it's light to medium according to the current radar images. And no mega front by any stretch. Fingers crossed for reasonable conditions tonight.
  20. Re the Collingwood coaching appointment. The name that keeps bobbing up in the media (as a side-bar admittedly), as a strong candidate, is Adam Kingsley. He's currently at Richmond and well regarded. As an aside, I'd think Collingwood would be the last place Clarkson would want to end up.
  21. Rain easing, a few light showers during the evening. It's rained a bit during the last few hours so condition of the ground will depend on how fast it soaks it up. It'll be slippery nonetheless.
  22. So he's fourth in line for the throne then.
  23. And they're best mates who'd love to knock the granny out of each other given the chance. Two hard nuts. I may be wrong here but wasn't Ollie Wines Jack's best man at his wedding?
  24. Well go figure. If Mark's doing ABC commentary, including pre-match, I'll always listen. Of course he'll stumble and contradict occasionally. I'd rather listen to his individual take on the game than the AFL endorsed blather spouted by most of the other commercial commentators. He's a breath of fresh air compared to them.
