  1. Great to hear from you Romey and have a fantastic honeymoon. Thanks for posting about the Broadbridge Education Centre, good to hear it's thriving. I remember the photos of the then Dees helping out with its initial construction post tsunami. Neita and Millsy going hard at it. Top effort from all the lads/lassies who were there. For anyone who hasn't seen it, the Demons v. Bombers game Rnd.1 2005 is an absolute fitting tribute to Troy as I've mentioned before. Hard to keep the lump from the throat. And we win. (One of the few match dvd's I've got, but this one is a beauty). If anyone wants it, it should still be available from AFL Name a Game. Again, great to hear of Troy's legacy on Phi Phi.
  2. 'Backwoods' more like it. Again, no offence. Seasons Greetings to all posters. Keep the faith!
  3. Justin.tv and then see what happens. It can be tricky but I've watched live matches from WA on a Saturday arvo for instance. It's a mixed menu, whether he pinches the AFL draft I wouldn't be so sure.
  4. Good luck to both Jimmy and Liam. Channel 7, next time send an experienced journalist who can actually put a cogent report together. That was a mess. Was that about Jimmy, Liam, the indigenous community? Got to love the closing line, along the lines of he has an exciting future. Talking about Liam whilst the focus had been on Jimmy. Typical tripe from people who don't really care.
  5. And for Aus and international cricket, we have another of the great world sports writers, Gideon Haigh. What a surprise! He doesn't write for the Herald-Sun. If you want current and accurate cricket news check Chloe Saltau and Gideon with a little acerbic occasional comment from Roebuck in the Age. No contest.
  6. The next best at quick hands and sharp delivery to a player in position would have to be Diesel Williams out of the centre. Not often mentioned but a tough, very smart footballer.
  7. If I ever see another post with the word 'thoughts?' as the first, last or the only word in your case... "I'll rip your bloody arms off!" (With apologies to Auntie Jack).
  8. Forget Ball, if we get him it maybe be a good result, if we don't there's enough excitement in the 2010 list to keep us happy regardless. Ball's an each-way bet but I'm not losing any sleep over it. So what? Thorp is a different kettle of fish. More than one observation has him pinned as a DSW (first word dead) who has tickets on himself and was generally on the outer at the Hawks because of his self-opinion and anti-social attitude. The Hawks got rid of him for a reason and it can't simply be because they've got a stacked forward line. His injury history didn't help but if he's been invited to train with us then you can downgrade that reason. It might be a case of wait and see how his body heals and develops though. The major reason we got him for pre-season I reckon is to put a latent talent into a youthful enthusiastic training environment with an eye for the future. It's his last chance. If the guy's got any gumption and commitment now's the time to show it. Expect DB and CC to be in his ear big time. But like Ball, it's 50/50. Who knows.
  9. No wonder catholic boys play up come end of the schooling year. Hail the pope! god's man on earth, don't see a woman as pope btw. Why? Don't even go near previous pope's histories. One warped belief system.
  10. So where does Jack W. play? I would've thought that was the ultimate position the FD was planning for. CHF. As for bulking up, some players metabolism simply doesn't allow it, no matter how many pastas they eat and weights work they do. Down the track, the skinny one will play a number of roles and a fixed, dominating position player is least likely.
  11. Well we shouldn't be that desperate to get Ball. Keen, yes. He'd be very handy from a couple of perspectives but no great loss if we don't get him. It certainly won't be the end of the Demon world as we know it.
  12. Try this as an omen. Both my son and my partner shared the same birthday on the weekend. She's a Sainter (born to it unfortunately, but don't mention the GF) but my son is rabid MFC, and more power to him! Off for the big celebration on Saturday night. Nice Spanish meal, many vinos and later it came time to order the cabs home. We'd been talking footy as you do to get the conversation back onto something approaching rationality late in the evening. As there were six of us, we had to order two cabs. No maxis available for at least an hour. We booked under Scully and Trengove and decided (under the influence of course) that whichever cab arrived first would be the no. 1 pick. I got Trengove. Scully turned up first and was whisked away. 5 minutes later the taxi for Trengove arrived.
  13. "Sorry title grammer is wrong". Was that deliberate?
  14. And you can thank Jimmy Stynes for playing a critical role in the realignment happening.
  15. Personally I'd put Essendon and Hawthorn above the Pies in terms of teams I have little time for. (And that view is not based on GF's.)
  16. Love this stuff at this time of year. Keep it up guys! We all live in hope.
  17. ABC radio commentator said Trengove is probably the outstanding player on the ground so far and no wonder he'll be highly sought after in the draft. Quite a wrap for an 18 yr. old.
  18. Right on the money there Jack7. DB's on the right track regardless of what some impatients or trolls say on here occasionally. You only have to look at the collective games experience of today's granny to see what's required.
  19. "Someone in that midfield had to go.. Brock drew that straw." We got Moloney, same straw Geelong sucked.
  20. You either follow the team or you follow individuals. Brock didn't cut it for whatever reason. I suport the team. A very smart decision by the MFC. Enough sentiment. Let's get serious.
  21. As an aside, it'll be interesting to see what merchandise comes with the membership package for 2010. As other posters have pointed out previously, I've got enough scarves that I've given most away which isn't necessarily a bad thing if it gets someone uncommitted on board the Demon bandwagon. From previous years the most used thing has been the fridge magnet with our season's games listed. Simple but effective. The biro was a shocker and should never be repeated. It was big, clumsy and against every ergonomic principle. And it broke. The MFC tie I've used on a few occasions and happy to have it in the wardrobe when required. The lapel pin from a few years back I really liked. Small, subtle, can wear it to work and it hasn't broken yet. We don't need a showbag of goodies, we need one decent quality product each year. Why not throw in a polo after x years of membership? I'll wait with interest to see what pops up in the letter box.
