Goal scoring blitzes and comparisons with older games eg 1972 GF are irrelevant I was there in sixties and seventies. No one knew about zone defence or patterns or any of those extra features. Coaches drill all their players today in manoeuvres and plays to stem the tide. Tsunami - no hope.

I was at Vic Park that day with about 100 other Dees. Our last ever match there BTW. Only kicked 2 goals in last Q, both in time on. Chopper and Sean Wight. Won by 9 points. But if I had to take one goal to my grave - Viney’s toe poke to Luke Jackson and running handball to Clarrie at full pace.

Never in dreams when PJ and Roos come on board did I think we’d be live for the finals 64 games later in 2015. Carlton thumped us. For 2019 didn’t even have us in the eight.
