  1. That obiter dicta may have bee influenced by the introduction of free agency, it being assumed that players are not locked into endless contracts at the best of the clubs.
  2. probably just picturing himself in black and white...
  3. Hawthorn are net beneficiaries in this new world order; Lake, Gunston, Burgoyne. These EPL-type clubs just have to wait for the apples to fall from the tree. It's no longer a competition, just a profit-building exercise by media-rights holders. Melbourne are being royally screwed.
  4. The 2000's have just been the icing on the cake. Being a Demon supporter since the time of the Kennedy assassination, Cassius Clay defeating Sonny Liston, and Beatlemania has been one hit after another....
  5. Age reporting channel 9 saying that Clarke's comeback WON'T be with Melbourne: http://m.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/mitch-clark-eyeing-afl-comeback-20140907-10dkpu.html
  6. Has brought the Geelong style to Essendon, no doubt about it. Just like Barassi took the Melbourne style to Carlton...
  7. In soccer that would be an automatic red card. In Aussie Rules it's a few cheap laughs on the footy show. Both acts (ie King and Merrett) were dog acts.
  8. i think we had several players out injured or 'rested' for that game?
  9. The people on this site keep blaming our club culture and our woeful players for our place on the ladder. It is the AFL that is killing off our club, year by year, and it is using our own supporters and media acolytes (Wilson, Quayle) to hasten the process. Our club culture would change overnight if AFL rationalisation (not equalisation) was stopped. I for one would not follow a code that gifts year on year premiership success to four or five clubs, just so we can copy england's pathetic footballing code. who cares if the afl basks in record $$$ and tv rights deals if the price is watching a host of fake franchises being given the best footballers, and with the essendrugs hawthorns and geelongs of the world hoovering up all the free agent players.
  10. Smith gets bad reviews on this site, but he has come out firmly in favour of a priority pick for the Mighty Dees: http://www.theaustralian.com.au/sport/afl/afl-must-bury-demons-by-moving-melbourne-out-of-the-mire-of-mediocrity/story-fnca0u4y-1227029891115
  11. I would have Townsend, Vagg and Jungwirth in there too.
  12. No mention of the Boston Demons Aussie Rules team. Someone caught with their sox down: https://usafl.com/clubs/boston
  13. Hadn't the Swans kicked thirty in each of their last two home and always?
  14. Bourke had a great spring and could take a high mark.
  15. ...mates protecting their 80's buffoonery hitmen.
  16. Is Gustavo Fring on the MRV? Just checking.
  17. Yeh, the 70's. That's when Alves, Keenan and Wells went for glory and $$$'s to North and Carlton.
  18. in The Age, before they got it: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/probe-on-dees-48-flag-ebay-sale-20140723-3cfz4.html
  19. Reported on ABC radio this morning. Some guy trying to sell it on EBay apparently. For $80,000.00.
  20. Play a great brand of football and have stayed near the top despite the draft. They have kept the AFL product afloat in an era of fake franchises, thuggish head-hunting teams and rolling mauls. Was it Mitch Duncan they got at 29 (when we got Scully at 1?). A team to be admired. IMO, a far better team than the essendons, WCE's, Hawthorns, Carltons of the world.
  21. Sorry if this has already gone up somewhere. Thought it was a good read. http://www.theweeklyreview.com.au/well-read/cover-story/9246-the-demon-inside/#.U57afCiJkTA
  22. Slamming Sammy Kekovich has written that we should lose our Monday fixture: http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/north-melbourne-team-of-the-century-kangaroo-sam-kekovich-lashes-out-after-boring-queens-birthday-blockbuster/story-fnelctok-1226949749620 This weekend in the FIFA world cup, will see Australia using the same defensive strategies as Roos, with the whole nation cheering them on!
  23. In Collingwood's right-of-reply period, we only kicked two goals.
  24. For the part of the game Collingwood were awake, we only kicked two goals.
